Chapter 73 Big Brother, Don't Help Me Anymore
Before you see him, you hear his voice.
A nine-ringed, gold-backed broadsword, a foot and a half long, came slashing straight at Chunyu Han's face with a whooshing sound.
Chunyu Han dodged the knife with a swift movement, but the table where Yu Nian had arranged the fruits was unfortunately cleaved in two, the bowls and plates shattered, and a few grapes rolled haphazardly to the rocking chair where Yu Nian was sitting.
Yu Nian swallowed hard, wondering where this brave man came from, daring to be so presumptuous towards Chunyu Han.
Upon closer inspection, Yu Nian realized that this reckless and brave man was none other than her good older brother, Yu Ning, who should still be training in the military camp.
Chunyu Han's face was already frosty. Yu Nian knew that what he was most afraid of was his identity as a eunuch. Yu Nian quickly put on her cane and stood up to block Chunyu Han.
"Brother, what are you doing!"
Yu Nian still respected this older brother quite a bit, even though he was an impulsive, easily angered, and simple-minded hothead.
However, in the original owner's memory, when the Yu family suffered a disaster, Yu Ning used his own body as a human shield to help Yu Nian escape. Even when he was pierced by thousands of arrows, he always protected Yu Nian in his arms and never let go.
Yu Nian didn't ask about his past; she simply respected him as a true man.
"I want to ask him what he's doing! He's ruined my sister's life, and he hasn't even given me an explanation. He just wants to get away with it by asking me to marry him. What girl from a good family wants to be a eunuch's lover!"
I was just about to go find you, and you delivered yourself right to my doorstep. I won't be satisfied until I've stabbed you a couple of times!
Yu Ning was a burly man, standing there in dark red military armor, looking like a small mountain. Compared to Yu Jing's elegant and refined appearance, they were completely opposite. Yu Nian estimated that Yu Ning was at least 1.8 meters tall.
"Brother, please don't bring this up again. It was my own choice, and it has nothing to do with the Regent."
Besides, this is just a baseless accusation. How can Chunyu Han explain himself? He has already confessed his true intentions long ago.
As Yu Nian watched Yu Ning swing his knife, she subconsciously leaned back half an inch. The weapon's sweeping movements were frightening to look at, and she was genuinely afraid that one of his subordinates might accidentally injure her again.
"It's alright? Xiao Wu, don't let him blind you. This matter must be resolved today, otherwise I will never agree to let you marry him!"
Yu Ning was in the military camp, where news was often scarce. When he received the invitation his father had sent, he learned about Yu Nian and Chunyu Han's affair. He immediately sneaked back, not wanting Yu Nian to suffer such injustice for nothing.
"Chunyu Han, speak up! Have you lost your roots and gone deaf too?!"
As soon as Yu Ning said those words, Yu Nian's heart jumped into her throat again.
Is this guy really her teammate? Or did he just come back specifically to sabotage her?
Putting aside who would win if they fought, Yu Nian couldn't even withstand the lingering heat of Chunyu Han's anger.
"Enough! Big brother, stop talking!"
Yu Nian lost her temper and shouted. Although she had her back to Chunyu Han and couldn't see his expression, she could feel the endless anger emanating from the fierce man behind her.
"My injury is no one's fault but the fault of others, and it has nothing to do with adults. If anyone is to blame, it's my bad luck that I don't have the blessing of having children."
Yu Nian's voice was clear and bright, each word flowing like water striking stone.
"Being able to marry you is a blessing I've earned over many lifetimes, and something I prayed for. Even if the King of Heaven himself jumped out to oppose it, it wouldn't matter."
After he finished speaking, Yu Nian could feel the chilling aura of the person behind her dissipate somewhat.
"Little Wu, is this true? But didn't you say you wouldn't marry anyone but the Crown Prince? Is this eunuch threatening you? Don't be afraid, tell your elder brother, and your elder brother will help you!"
A month ago, Yu Nian was still calling him "Crown Prince Brother" all the time. Yu Ning couldn't believe that Yu Nian's thoughts would suddenly change so drastically in the month he was away at the military camp.
Yu Nianzhen was on the verge of tears. Yu Ning's skill in scolding eunuchs was indeed passed down from Yu Huaifeng.
But all Yu Nian wanted to say was, "Brother, please stop helping. I'll really thank you if you keep going..."
Before Yu Nian could speak, a gust of wind lifted the hair at the side of Yu Nian's ear, and a dark figure flashed out from behind Yu Nian, immediately engaging in battle with Yu Ning, who was wearing dark red military armor.
Yu Ning swung his broadsword with a whooshing sound, while Chunyu Han, unarmed, held his own.
But Yu Ning, that reckless man who knew absolutely no sense of propriety, kept slashing at Chunyu Han with deadly blows. If this continued, the consequences would be unimaginable.
No, we have to do something.
Yu Nian took a deep breath, dragged her injured leg, picked up her crutch, and approached the dangerous battle zone.
Yu Nian, who did not know martial arts, could only use the simplest and most direct method to stop them, raising his cane to block between Yu Ning and Chunyu Han.
With a snap, the wooden cane was chopped in two. Yu Nian couldn't even hold onto the remaining half, and it was thrown to the ground. The force was so great that Yu Nian's hand went numb.
"Xiao Wu, get out of the way! I'm going to teach him a lesson today!"
Yu Ning raised the knife in his hand, the tip pointing directly at Chunyu Han's neck.
Chunyu Han's face was extremely gloomy and cold. Yu Nian even felt that Chunyu Han had already decided where to hang Yu Ning's head after taking it off.
Yu Nian gritted his teeth and reached out to grasp the tip of the nine-ringed golden-backed broadsword.
The girl's slender, delicate hands, with skin so smooth it seemed like they could be broken with a touch, produced a bright red liquid the moment it touched the tip of the knife. The liquid slid down her wrist and dripped onto the bluestone floor, standing out starkly.
"Brother, if you insist on hurting him, then chop me up first!"
Yu Nian's hand trembled slightly from the pain, but she still held on tightly.
Upon seeing his sister injured, Yu Ning lost his composure and forgot all about Chunyu Han.
"Xiao Wu, let go quickly, don't hurt your hand."
"Promise me you won't lay a hand on him again, and I'll let go."
After Yu Nian spoke, she felt that she was somewhat like the female lead in a tragic drama.
Yu Ning couldn't persuade Yu Nian otherwise, so she put away her knife and looked at Yu Nian's injured hand with heartache.
Yu Nian didn't have time to be coy. She took a handkerchief, casually wrapped it around her hand, and figured it wouldn't be easy to get things done with too many people around, so she decided to send one away first.
"Brother, you've come all this way and must be tired from the journey. Go and rest for a bit. I'll get Fourth Brother to bandage my wound and then come see you. We can talk later."
Since Yu Nian had gone to such lengths, Yu Ning had no choice but to nod and leave. But before leaving, she didn't forget to glare fiercely at Chunyu Han.
Once Yu Ning calmed down, Yu Nian had to turn around and comfort Chunyu Han.
This person hasn't said a word since Yu Ning came in. Yu Nian sighed inwardly. Yu Ning is really something. She even made Chunyu Han's intermittent muteness flare up.
Before Yu Nian could say anything, Chunyu Han moved to leave, his cold aura forming an invisible barrier that kept strangers away.
Looking at Chunyu Han's aloof and cold back, Yu Nian sighed that she was really unlucky.
Yu Nian was with one leg bent, and someone with two legs couldn't catch up in the first place. In her haste, she accidentally stepped on her own skirt.
Yu Nian lost her footing and fell backward toward Chunyu Han.
