Chapter 4

As soon as he entered the door, Zhang Lei saw a skeleton standing in the corner, and some snakes and spiders scattered on the ground, all of which were cheap props.

He couldn't help but feel even more contemptuous in his heart. The layout of this haunted house was not even as good as the one in his hometown.

However, as he watched, he suddenly realized something was wrong.

There was no other light in the room, only a red candle on the table provided the light source. He stood facing the table, and the shadow should have been behind him.

But now, the shadow was on his left.

When he came to his senses, Zhang Lei frowned and stared at his own shadow, suspecting that he was seeing things.

At this moment, Shadow suddenly raised his hand and touched his hair.

Zhang Lei took a step back in shock, a cold sweat breaking out on his back. He he he... he didn't move, but his shadow moved on its own?

The shadow slowly lowered his hand and put it behind his back obediently.

The room returned to silence and Zhang Lei took a few deep breaths. He couldn't even find any technical flaws in this damn haunted house!

Just as he was thinking, a small window opened above the door, and Gu Wang's voice came: "I forgot to tell you, there are three levels in the haunted house. You can get out after passing all of them. If you encounter any difficulties, you can shout for help from the director, and I will take you out."

The small window closed again, and Zhang Lei breathed a sigh of relief. There were only three levels, and he should be able to get out soon.

He had forgotten about citing the newspaper.

He casually glanced at the motionless shadow and began to look for the entrance to the second level.

However, as soon as he took a step, he froze.

Shadow still stood obediently with his hands behind his back, but now he had his arms hanging down at his sides.

My back was once again soaked with sweat. Was this the effect of a mechanism? Or was there something else...

He swallowed hard, comforting himself that the haunted house would definitely not dare to let anything happen to him! There couldn't be any real ghosts!

But when he thought of the staff of the haunted house who were watching his miserable appearance through the camera, Zhang Lei became more and more angry and looked more like a frog.

After hesitating for a while, he finally decided to go on. It would be too embarrassing not to pass the first level.

Purposely ignoring his shadow, he carefully searched for the entrance to the second level. However, after searching the room of more than ten square meters three times, he still couldn't find the extra door.

The shadow was still silent, but every time Zhang Lei looked at it, he had a feeling of being watched, as if there was a monster living inside, quietly observing him.

In the silence, he could hear his own heartbeat.

At this moment, he had an idea. This was the only unusual place in the entire room. Could it be that the entrance to the second level was here?

Thinking of this, he plucked up his courage, stretched out one foot, and carefully stepped into the shadow.

My feet felt like they were being put into a freezer, and a damp, cold, and sticky feeling came over me.

Suddenly, a sharp laugh was heard in the room, and the candlelight began to flicker. All the shadows in the room grew teeth and arms, and they started waving their claws and fangs on the walls and the ground, just like monsters rioting in an online game.

Zhang Lei widened his eyes in horror!

This extreme fear made the blood gather in his head. His forehead was buzzing with pain and the word "help" was already on the tip of his throat. Suddenly, his feet felt empty and he slid down the tunnel into the second room. The first level was passed.

He stood up dizzy, and before he could figure out where he was, he heard a faint cry.

The crying sound was exactly like the typical sound of a female ghost in a horror movie. Zhang Lei's hair stood on end, and he looked around wildly with wide eyes, "Who! Who's there? Stop playing tricks!"

Suddenly, his voice choked and his pupils dilated in horror!

In the corner of the room, a woman stood with her back to him. Her black hair covered her back and hung down to the ground. On the ground... she had no feet!!

Outside the haunted house, the sun was shining brightly and the air was filled with the scent of grass.

Gu Wang moved a stool and sat at the door of the haunted house. He heard a scream from inside, followed by a series of "Help—Help! Wuuuuuuuu help… There's a ghost!! Female ghost! Ahhhh!! Don't come over—"

He yawned lazily and continued to bask in the sun. The code word was "Director, help me!" Whoever asked for help didn't care about him.

In the haunted house, Zhang Lei crawled to the corner farthest from the woman in a panic. It was not that he didn't want to ask for help, but mainly because he was so scared that his mind was numb and he forgot that he needed the secret code.

The faint sobbing continued, interspersed with a few lines: "You unfaithful man, why do you want to kill me? I am still pregnant with your child..."

Zhang Lei's pants were soaked, and he cried in an extremely ugly manner: "Wuwuwu, it's not that I don't have it, I haven't slept with a woman yet, wuwuwu..."

Guiku paused strangely for a moment, as if he had not thought of how to respond next.

The lamp shadow lady approached the candle girl and whispered, "Isn't he scared silly by us?"

The Candle Girl also whispered, "No way, he didn't even say the code. Is he too immersed in the role?"

Lantern Shadow Lady couldn't help but nod, "That makes sense. It's said that these young people come to the haunted house just to be scared."

The two ghosts looked at each other and decided to satisfy the guests so that the adults could see their skills!

So, Zhang Lei, who had finally stopped crying, opened his eyes and saw the woman in the corner slowly turning her head. Her front was actually the back of her head.

Chang Xu shuddered all over, opened his mouth, and let out a scream like a pig being slaughtered, "Help—don't come over here!"

He picked up the red candle on the table and waved it at the female ghost with all his might.

However, he didn't expect that this was the mechanism of the second level. A black hole suddenly appeared on the ground and he fell into it.

The Candle Girl and the Lamp Shadow Girl also hurried after them.

The tunnel was covered with thick blankets, so the fall didn't hurt. But the Candle Lady and the Lamp Shadow Lady were trying their best to show off, and Zhang Lei was in a terrible situation.

The walls, floor and even the ceiling of the house were covered with shadow-like monsters. They pounced on him in groups, biting down with their sharp fangs.

Although he just pretended to bite the back of his hand, the pain was real after all. Zhang Lei broke through the defense, kicked and kicked forward, and rushed out of the encirclement crying.

In the corner, the woman reappeared, holding a red candle in her hand. The candle tears dripped down and turned into blood. The bloodstained female ghost stretched her neck to approach him, her black hair covering her face, and said faintly: "Look at me, look at me..."

He was not frightened to death in the midst of the chaos. Instead, the surge of adrenaline made him give it his all. He slapped the approaching female ghost away and fell to the wall howling.

He didn't know where he accidentally touched, but the door opened and he rolled out like a rolling gourd.

It was bright outside, the sun hanging right in the middle of the sky, and it had been less than an hour since he went in.

Gu Wang, who was waiting at the door, glanced at him and didn't bother to help him: "Congratulations, guest, for passing the haunted house."

Zhang Lei was dazed, still in shock. "Ah? Cleared?"

He was so frightened that he even forgot his own name, so how could he remember that he was in a haunted house?

The sun shone warmly on his body. After a long while, he finally came to his senses. He was still trembling when he spoke, "Is everything in there a haunted house mechanism? It's not really haunted?"

"Of course not. How could a guest think that?" Gu Wang said in surprise, "Our haunted house uses the most advanced technology. Our staff are in full control of the entire process. Just look at it if you don't believe me."

He stretched out his hand and snapped his fingers, and a woman and an old lady walked out of the haunted house.

The Candle Lady and the Lamp Shadow Lady are both hundreds of years old ghosts, so walking in broad daylight is naturally a piece of cake for them.

Zhang Lei took a closer look. The woman was thin, delicate, and gentle. The old lady was only a little over a meter tall, walked nimbly, and looked very strong.

He looked at the feet of the two people and saw shadows, not ghosts.

Since it wasn't a ghost, his face suddenly turned ugly when he thought about how scared he was in there.

Gu Wang said, "Now you see clearly, don't you? Although we're a supernatural theme park, we don't engage in feudal superstitions! You're welcome to bring your classmates and friends. Tickets are only ten yuan, and you can get a discount with a student ID!"

Zhang Lei felt his legs were wet and his face became even uglier. He didn't care what he said and quickly took a taxi and left.

Gu Wang shook his head behind him, "He has evil intentions."

After watching him get into the car, the shadow lady opened her mouth wide, swallowing the two people's shadows, and said with a toothless smile: "Sir, today's trial operation is a great success."

Gu Wang nodded and said, "Your performance is good. I'll give you a credit and give you a bonus next month."

The two ghosts were immediately overjoyed.

After Zhang Lei left, no other guests arrived at the amusement park. Gu Wang looked around for a while and felt that the park was still too desolate.

But he had no choice. A haunted house and a wall had already drained his savings, and this was the result of Boss Lin giving him discounts again and again.

He was truly broke, otherwise he wouldn't have even installed a gate. If he had known there wasn't even a door here, he would have taken the temple's door with him before leaving. That door was a solid wood door he and his master had handcrafted, and it was incredibly valuable.

Just as I was thinking about it, there was suddenly a rustling sound in the room.

"Huh? There's a mouse?"

When Gu Wang pushed the door open, he saw a small black snake with snake skin on its head and snake beads wrapped around its tail. It looked like it was trying to steal and escape but was caught red-handed. It was stiff and motionless, cosplaying as a statue.

Gu Wang didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He lifted the little snake up by its tail and said, "You may not be old, but you have a big appetite. You've only been practicing for a few years, and you dare to covet the relics of a Half-Step Dragon?"

The little snake swung back and forth in his hand like a heartless hemp rope.

Gu Wang picked up the snake skin and snake pill again and said, "Don't steal the treasures. You can come and listen when I recite the scriptures in the future. If there is anything you don't understand..." He paused.

The surrounding scenery suddenly changed.

Flying eaves, vermilion doorposts, green stone walls, a well in the center of the yard... and the solid wooden door he just remembered, is this the Taoist temple where he has lived for more than ten years?
