Chapter 12: Even without chicken nuggets, scrambled eggs are delicious

The pheasant received the 'reminder' and flew up with a flutter.

Fu Dabai and Fu Sanbai missed their targets and crashed into each other.

The pheasant didn't know whether it was frightened for a moment or felt that the big fool who informed it was reliable and could save it from the iron pot, so it flapped its wings and dived into Fu Erbai's arms.

After all this operation, even the rabbit waiting by the tree would exclaim: Wow!

Fu Erbai took advantage of the situation and hugged it, grabbing it by the wings and holding it in his hand, smiling excitedly:

“What a fat chicken!”

Fu Dabai: Silly... Silly people have good fortune?

Fu Sanbai: Will the lost brain eventually return as a pheasant?

Fu Sibai patted his second brother on the shoulder and exclaimed: "Second brother, you are really amazing!"

Fu Sanbai didn't know what to say.

Fu Dabai squatted down and searched the snow where the pheasant had just been lying, and there were six or seven pheasant eggs lying on it.

One of them was accidentally kicked a little by the two of them, but fortunately it didn't break.

There was no time to criticize this pheasant for being stupid. It actually ran to the busy road to lay eggs.

Fu Dabai quickly asked Fu Sibai to bring the grain bag over and carefully put the eggs in and hid them.

They were afraid of being seen by passers-by, not because they were afraid of being robbed, but because every family was having a hard time these days, and it was inevitable that some greedy people would want to get a share. Living in the same village, they would feel uncomfortable whether they won or lost if they quarreled over such things.

The chicken was fluttering around and was not obedient, but it was going to be put into the pot anyway, so I just twisted its neck and stuffed it into the grain bag.

The four brothers hurried home.

This time they found a good job in the county, helping a newly moved family renovate their old house, although the work was hard in the middle of winter and the time was tight.

But what they gave was a lot, twenty cents a day, which included two meals, two steamed buns and a bowl of boiled cabbage for each meal. Accommodation was also provided, and each person could get two liters of brown rice every day.

Although it is brown rice, it costs at least five or six cents to buy it.

Originally, the family gave the rice because they were afraid that the workers would be tired from working and would eat a lot, and they were afraid that they would not have enough to eat. But they were reluctant to give it away, so they saved up half a bag of food and took it back to their family.

During the few days I was out, I earned four hundred and eighty coins, half a bag of grain, a pheasant and six or seven eggs for free.

They will go back and look for work, so they can get through this period. When spring comes and wild vegetables sprout, they can go up the mountain to try their luck, and life will be much better there.

The four brothers could all imagine the joy on the faces of their family members.

The four brothers had smiles on their faces and pushed the door open.

A row of people at the foot of the wall all raised their heads in unison, with their hands in their sleeves, their eyes empty and their faces grim.

Greetings from the 'Paper Refugees'!

The four brothers’ smiles froze and they covered their chests with their hands, almost frightened to death.

"Mom, what happened at home? Why are you here? Is it Daddy…"

Fu Sibai was only nineteen, an age full of emotions. When he thought of the possibility of something bad happening, his eyes suddenly turned red.

Old Futou, who had just gone out to drink water, came out of the big house and angrily cursed:

"I'm fine! I've never seen anyone basking in the sun! Why are you crying so sadly? It's bad luck!"

After saying that, he sat down again without saying a word, and his presence decreased again.

It was when other people gathered around and talked to them that the courtyard seemed to have some liveliness.

"Have you found a job in the county? What kind of job? Are you tired?"

Old Mrs. Yang asked her eldest son gently, patted her third son and ignored her other two silly sons.

"No, it's not tiring. This job is good. We help people repair their houses. We also provide food and lodging. We get 20 cents a day. We did a good job. When we left, the family even gave us half a bag of food."

Fu Dabai spoke with a thankful tone, as if he had gotten a great bargain. He did not mention that the grain was saved by them, but only said that it was a gift.

After listening to this, Mrs. Li raised her eyebrows and wanted to say something, but when she saw her husband's look, she had to hold her words back.

When Fu Sibai heard Old Yang's question, he quickly squeezed over and showed Old Yang the pheasant he had caught on the road as if he was presenting a treasure.

I have to describe it vividly and add one more sentence at the end:

"Big brother, the third brother couldn't catch him, but the second brother caught him as soon as he stretched out his hand. The second brother is really amazing!"

Fu Dabai and Fu Sanbai: ...Why do you ask for a beating so much? If you understand it, just learn it here!

The joy on old Madam Yang's face suddenly faded a little. Then she looked at her stupid second son, who was holding the new daughter in his arms and looked so happy. It was obvious that he had no idea how this new daughter came to be.

Old Yang's expression suddenly turned cloudy, and she said coldly:

"The eldest son's wife froze the chicken and sold it later. I fried some eggs with it and had an extra meal tonight.

Second son and his wife, come on in."

After saying that, he led the way into the big house, and I guess he got at least a scolding.

The pheasant and the eggs were taken away by Li, moving further and further away.

Fu Baoer in Fu Erbai's arms pouted his little mouth and made two unhappy sounds. After a while, he started to spit bubbles again, but no one noticed the baby's fleeting emotion at this moment.

Several sisters-in-law of the Li family happily talked about their own husbands, and mentioned how Xiao Yang secretly raised a child and was beaten up by her stepmother and taken back.

Yuan and the children at home were drooling at the eggs.

Scrambled eggs are delicious even without chicken nuggets!
