Make money, make money

The whole family celebrated New Year’s Eve and the Spring Festival as ordinary days.

Just didn't forget to burn some paper money for my aunt.

After Fubao ran away, A Yuan stopped having dreams, probably because the victims of the bad things Fubao did now were not members of the Lao Fu family.

Yuan originally wanted to play with Sister Li every day, but he can’t do that anymore.

The family thought that their luck was not very good, but the children were lucky.

He used to be sick all the time, but now he’s much better. It’s impossible for Fubao to be so unlucky, but... maybe the children’s luck will improve.

So recently the adults have squeezed out some time to take them to find yards that are ready to be rented out.

They couldn't afford to hire a dentist, and although they asked their neighbors to look for one, they were afraid that they wouldn't be able to find a suitable one, or that they would be cheated again, so they decided to try their luck themselves.

Today it was Li's turn to bring Yuan out.

It's already January 26th, and they still haven't found the right one.

What they could find were either the people trying to rip them off because they were outsiders, or their houses were so dilapidated that it would cost a fortune to repair them.

Yuan squatted in an alley and sighed: "What should I do?"

It would be nice if Li knew. She looked around and saw no one, so she squatted down.

"We'll have to sleep on the streets if this continues!"

Yuan advised: "Not really. At the very least, we have to find a bridge hole to make do with."

Li was speechless: "Yuan, if you don't know how to persuade others, don't make it difficult for yourself. Every time I hear you persuade others, I feel upset!"

Yuan thought about everyone's reactions and felt that what his mother said made sense.

The mother and daughter were worried for a long time, hoping that someone would open the door and tell them that the house they had was good and cheap.

But there is none!

Humph, they really don’t have that ridiculous luck!

The mother and daughter passed away sadly. The family went around Changlefang for the past few days but couldn't find them.

He went to the nearby Dayefang and Kaimingfang to look for a place, but finally, with the introduction of the abusive Aunt Fang, he rented a yard in Anyifang, far away from the East Market.

Two taels of silver a month is not expensive, but there are all kinds of people around, so it's a bit chaotic.

Hu Tou Hu Nao and Niu Wa have to get up very early to go to school, but there are many job openings here, so it is much easier for Fu Dabai and others to find work.

Finally, the family decided to move there temporarily. However, when they left, they took a cabinet with them in front of the landlord to calm their anger at being cheated.

The waiter didn't come, and the landlord surnamed Li hesitated for a long time before he uttered, "Why don't you take the box as well?"

But paying back the money was obviously impossible.

I don't know how long these two pieces of broken furniture have been used. They can be used for makeshift purposes, but no one would buy them if I sold them. I'm afraid they wouldn't be worth even a penny.

The family held their breath but still did not forget to take the two things away. The only good news recently was that old Mrs. Yang's eyesight had improved.

When leaving, A Yuan said goodbye to the beautiful Sister Li reluctantly and couldn't help shedding tears.

Li Tian comforted her with a helpless smile and said that she would visit her when she had time. Only then did A Yuan walk away, looking back every step of the way.

The new home was not much different from the original one, except that there was no vegetable garden, which made the family feel extremely regretful and sad.

Only work that makes money can comfort their sad hearts.

As usual, the three brothers of the Fu family could only find manual labor and errand running jobs because they were a little older. However, since they could read and write, they could take on more jobs and earn quite a bit.

Dalang and Erlang worked as waiters in pubs and inns.

Zhao, the most talkative of the three daughters-in-law, also found a job selling cloth.

Li's cooking skills were pretty good, and she became a cook in the tavern where Dalang worked as a waiter.

Wang was a quiet woman, so she stayed at home to take care of household chores, the children, and the old Yang couple.

A month passed like this, and by March, the family's life became much better after they received their wages. They could barely squeeze out three taels of silver to give to their teacher as a tuition.

However, Mr. Chen returned two taels of silver and gave them a list of books. He did not recommend them to buy any of them, but instead suggested that they buy more pens and ink, and when they had time, they could go to the bookstore to write down the names and then copy them at home.

After reading the book, everyone realized that although people were allowed to read in bookshops, they were not allowed to copy books in the shop, unless the copied books were to be sold to other shops.

Of course the Lao Fu family couldn't afford it, but they could still copy it, and Mr. Chen really wanted them to practice their poor handwriting!

Mr. Chen has always disliked their handwriting.

After knowing that the whole family could read and write, the teacher would sometimes let other people do the homework for Niu Wa and the others, and then Niu Wa and the others would bring it to him for review.

There’s nothing else to say, except that this family’s handwriting is so frustrating that I’m always reluctant to practice it.

It’s not that I’m reluctant to put in the effort, but that I’m reluctant to put in the ink and paper. From big to small, everything I write looks so ugly.

He can still teach and fight his three disciples, but he has no way to deal with those wild disciples!

It is possible to ask them to practice on the board with water, but not only will the feel be different, the fact that they have to use a pen alone is enough to make them feel bad.

So instead of collecting money to pay his tuition, he decided to practice calligraphy. He felt that these three disciples were very likely to be successful, and his status as their master would naturally rise as well.

Although this is far away, some things’ success or failure must be planned early. It doesn’t matter if you can’t learn it. Since their family members can learn it, it’s naturally better to learn more.

It would also be good to spread the news later, so that my background would not hold back some of my disciples.

The old Fu family obediently bought pens and ink, but still asked the children to use more of them, and the adults were still reluctant to do so.

Mr. Chen still has to look at those crappy words that give him a headache.

Because the place was too far, Wang would go to see them off every day.

Every time Mr. Chen looked at Wang's naive and honest look, it seemed as if they all looked at him with the same expression, and said to him, "Sir, we want to practice, but we are so poor!"

Curses came to his lips, but he had to hold them back every time. He couldn't think carefully. Mr. Chen was afraid that he would give them some ink and paper for nothing in a moment of impulse, which would be a huge loss for him!

I can only hope that this family can make more money and study hard.

The Lao Fu family agreed with this idea and felt that they would make a lot of money soon.

Only when you live in the city do you realize the benefits of living in the city.

Changlefang is still a little worse, but it is also very prosperous, and this side is even more prosperous.

The advantage of living here is that you can make money as long as you are diligent enough.

There are many wealthy families in this capital city. You can make a lot of money by helping to buy things, deliver food, and carry suitcases for travel. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you can even receive tips from guests.

But you have to spend money everywhere, even to buy a vegetable or get a bucket of good drinking water!

But those expenses can be more or less.

The family calculated that if they did this for two years, they would probably be able to start a small business, or at least set up a stall to sell things.

The adults were busy making a living. Wulang, Liulang, Yuan and Xingzi, when they had free time, would ask people nearby if there were anyone similar to Xiao Yang and Fubao.

There was no news, but the children did become more familiar with the adults and children nearby.

Now that I'm familiar with the streets, I can go out for a stroll again.

However, Wulang and Liulang would rather follow their uncles and help them deliver goods and run errands.

The girl couldn't do this, so she had to stay at home.

The rabbit is addicted to embroidery, while the other two feel a headache just looking at it.

Wang was responsible for all the housework. When the two girls wanted to help, Wang only gave them light work.

Grandma and grandpa never asked them for help in anything. When the situation at home was a little better, they would sometimes give them a few copper coins and ask them to buy food.

In fact, the ones who have the least time are still Yuan and Xingzi.

It's May in the blink of an eye.

The two useless kids were sitting on the steps by the street, chewing on candy figurines, feeling indescribably melancholy.

A Yuan said sadly:

"Kyoko, we can't go on like this, we're useless, we're all getting fat! We're only going to gain weight!"

Xingzi licked the sugar residue on her hands and sighed.

"We're still growing. If we keep going like this, it won't be long before we have to change clothes again! It's so expensive!"

A Yuan doesn't have this worry. Although she grows very slowly in height, she gains weight very quickly!

The eldest and second brothers would always bring back some leftovers from customers in wine shops and inns. They were very greasy, and after eating them for a few months, Yuan's face became rounder quickly, faster than anyone else's.

If she continues like this, there is a high risk that she will become a ball.

"We can't just eat! I decided to find something to do!"

Yuan said this in a deep and affirmative voice, like an adult.

Kyoko: ...

"Or, you should just forget it. I'll find something more reliable to do!"

Xingzi thought about Yuan's stupid brain and his treacherous nature and felt that he was unreliable.

Yuan was touched and said, "Good sister, you don't have to feel sorry for me, we can earn more together!"

Seeing that she was called a good sister, Xingzi silently held back what she wanted to say and changed it to:

"What are you going to do?"

A Yuan said mysteriously:

“I’m going to sell snacks!”

"Where did the snacks come from? Are you going to make them?" Xingzi's face wrinkled. Although the two of them could cook well, they could only cook until they were cooked!

"Don't be impulsive! You will be beaten if you waste food. It's been too long since you were beaten. Are you itchy?"

Yuan rolled his eyes:

"What are you thinking about! The best steamed snack I make is Wotou. I was planning to buy some snacks from Sister Li and sell them at a higher price!

That’s how Xiao Shitou and his friends sell roasted nuts! It’s said that they can sell them just by going around the teahouse or theater twice! Even if they get kicked out, they can still sell them on the street! I’m ready to join them!”

Xiao Shitou lived in the same alley as them. He had an old mother at home who was sick, so he usually sold snacks with a few equally poor kids from the neighborhood, such as melon seeds and peanuts.

Sometimes the leftovers will be given to familiar neighbors. Yuan has eaten it several times and it tastes very good!

Xingzi: "Then why don't we sell roasted nuts? Peanuts smell so good! If we don't sell any, we can bring them back and eat them!"

Yuan: "We should be loyal! There are so many people selling fried food nearby. We'll see each other sooner or later. We're in the same business as each other!"

"That's right," Xingzi nodded, "Then how are we going to get it? Sister Li lives so far away!"

The stubborn and money-hungry spirit that A Yuan had when he was digging herbs and wild vegetables came back to haunt him:

"Tell Fourth Aunt to take us with her when she sends Niu Wa and the others off!

We will also get up at 4:00 am in the future and be back around 4:00 am in the morning, just in time for breakfast. After breakfast, we can go out and sell. We will make money soon!"

Yuan was indescribably confident.

Xingzi: ...It is my blessing to have you, but there is no need for you to trap me to death!

Yuan was so excited that it was ridiculous. Xingzi was too embarrassed to tell her how painful it was to get up early every day.

Xingzi didn't say anything for the sake of sisterhood, but Wang was shocked and touched Yuan's head:

"What's wrong with this idiot? He's not having a fever? Why is he looking for trouble?"

Yuan: ...I don’t care!
