Chapter 8 How do you act like a brother?
After Bai Shian got on the carriage, he lifted the curtain and took another look.
Not far away, the short little girl was standing obediently at the door of the rice shop. Obviously, she noticed his gaze and smiled with her little face tilted up.
The little boy's eyes were distinctly black and white, and he looked at people with great sincerity, as if saying to Bai Shi'an, "Don't worry, Fourth Brother, Sui Ning will definitely wait here obediently."
"She is not my sister." Bai Shian lowered the curtain and forced himself to ignore the uneasiness in his heart.
After returning to the general's mansion, he rode a horse and went to the suburbs by himself.
When we set out, the sky was already a little cloudy, and it started to drizzle when we arrived at our destination.
"Shi'an, here!" Someone called him from a distance.
This group of people are almost all twelve or thirteen years old. They don't like to study, but are proficient in riding and archery. They are considered to be famous playboys in the imperial city.
"The rain seems to be getting heavier. Can we still ride? Will it be dangerous?" Someone couldn't help but complain.
"Are you scared?" Lin Qingxuan, the son of the Ding'an Marquis, said nonchalantly, "If you're scared of a little rain, how can you fight for the country in the future?"
He was the organizer of this event. He turned to look at Bai Shian and asked, "How is it? Shian, are you afraid?"
"You're joking, my prince." Bai Shi'an was naturally not afraid, but he suddenly remembered something. It was raining, so that dumpling...should have gone back to the Li family? Even if he didn't go back, he should have gone to the rice shop to avoid the rain, right?
"Shi'an, what are you thinking about? Let's go." Someone pushed Bai Shi'an.
When Bai Shian came to his senses, he saw that Lin Qingxuan and others had already mounted their horses and were ready to set off.
He remembered the little girl's warning, so he jumped on his horse and couldn't help but remind everyone, "The mountain road is slippery in the rain, everyone must be careful."
"It seems that our Shi'an is extra cautious today." Lin Qingxuan couldn't help laughing at him. He kicked the horse's belly, and the snow-white BMW under his crotch was the first to rush into the rain.
The others did not hesitate and rushed out one after another.
Bai Shian was at the end. He shook his head, knowing that such a mountain road was indeed dangerous and he couldn't be distracted.
The rain got heavier. The leading prince of Ding'an seemed particularly excited. He turned around and shouted to the crowd, "Whoever reaches the top of the mountain first will be rewarded handsomely."
"Great! Go! Go!"
The others immediately cheered and rushed up the mountain with all their might.
Bai Shian frowned and couldn't help but think of Xiaotuanzi's warning: No, this is too dangerous.
"Everyone, slow down and be careful." He shouted to the front while speeding up to catch up with Lin Qingxuan. "Prince, this is too dangerous. The rain is heavy and the mountain road is too slippery."
Lin Qingxuan laughed, "Shi'an, Shi'an, don't you boast that you've been on the battlefield twice? Are you even afraid of a mountain road in the rain?"
"Prince, you'd better be cautious." Bai Shi'an advised again.
If it were in the past, he would definitely be the first to reach the top of the mountain and win applause, but today, that guy had been chattering all morning, and those words kept echoing in his ears, forcing him to be careful.
"Stop talking nonsense. If you want to persuade me, take first place first." Lin Qingxuan squeezed his horse's belly again and rushed forward at an increased speed.
Bai Shian had no choice but to grit his teeth and chase after him.
The two men's horses were one white and one red, both of which were first-class Arabian horses. In the rain, they were like two phantoms, surpassing everyone else one by one.
As they were about to reach the top of the mountain, Bai Shian was about to overtake Lin Qingxuan. Just as he was about to make the final acceleration, he suddenly heard a scream behind him.
One, two... He quickly tightened the reins and wanted to look back.
But the rain was too heavy and the horse was going too fast, so he suddenly slowed down and turned around. The horse was frightened instantly and raised its front hooves, trying to throw him off.
Bai Shian slid down most of the way in an instant, but he reacted incredibly quickly, grabbed the saddle and stabilized his body.
However, just as he was about to get back on the horse, he found that Lin Qingxuan in front of him had also been thrown off the horse and fell to the ground, and was about to be trampled by the horse at any time.
If Lin Qingxuan died, these children from aristocratic families would all be in trouble.
Bai Shian had no choice but to give up struggling and fell off his horse in an instant. His knees hit the ground and he felt a piercing pain.
He had no time to care about anything else. He took out the dagger from his boot, swung it hard, and flew towards the white horse in front.
The attack hit the white horse, and it quickly fell to the side. Blood mixed with rain water flowed down the mountain.
When Lin Qingxuan saw that he was rescued, he breathed a sigh of relief and fainted.
Bai Shi'an was also frightened. He calmed himself down and limped down the mountain. He saw that there was chaos behind him and many people had fallen off their horses.
Some people broke their legs, some had blood all over their faces, and some... He suddenly remembered what Xiaotuanzi said in the car.
What's going on? Is this a coincidence?
At this time, someone had to go back to the imperial city for help, but the few people who were not injured were frightened and did not dare to ride horses to go back.
"I'll go back." Although Bai Shi'an had an injured leg, it shouldn't affect his riding, so he couldn't delay any longer.
He explained some things, found his horse, and immediately went down the mountain to the general's mansion.
The rain was getting heavier, and he felt more and more uneasy. After entering the imperial city, he couldn't help but think of Li Suining at the door of the rice shop.
"Forget it, let's go take a look!" Bai Shian quickened his pace and headed towards the rice shop.
After an incense stick of time, the rice shop came into view, and he vaguely saw a little guy standing at the door.
He couldn't help but hold his breath, and hit the horse's butt hard to speed up. When he got closer, he saw Li Suining still standing there.
"Fourth brother?" The little guy was soaked all over, with the cold rain penetrating into his clothes. His face was pale and extremely weak, but when he saw Bai Shian, he showed a particularly happy smile.
Bai Shian was stunned on his horse. Before he could utter any words of accusation, he saw the little guy fall into the rain.
He immediately jumped off his horse, endured the severe pain in his knees, and picked up Tuanzi. "Li Suining? Li Suining?"
The owner of the rice shop came out holding an umbrella and demanded at the top of his voice, "Is this your child?"
Bai Shian hesitated for a moment and nodded.
"Are you his brother?"
Bai Shian nodded again.
The rice shop owner looked at her with a reproachful expression, "How can you be a brother? Why did you come to pick her up only now? It's raining so hard, and I called her to go in, but she refused. She said she promised me to wait for him here, and she was afraid that he wouldn't be able to find her if she went in."
Bai Shian's eyes turned red instantly, and he felt extremely guilty.
At this moment, he suddenly felt the little ball in his arms move. He looked down and saw that Li Suining had opened his eyes and his little mouth was opening and closing, as if he was saying something.
He hurried over to listen.
"Fourth brother, have you gone horseback riding?"
Unexpectedly, at this time, this guy still cared about whether he went horseback riding.
Bai Shian wiped his face and smiled, "Fourth brother didn't go. Sui Ning said he didn't want fourth brother to go, so fourth brother didn't go."
"That's great!" The little guy grinned again, tilted his head, and fainted completely.
