Chapter 71 He was locked up.
"What are you doing?" Xiao Sui smirked, approaching her step by step. "Tell me first, what are you doing?"
Ning Qi had never seen him like this before. His demonic energy was chaotic, and his eyes were gloomy, as if he was accumulating immense anger, which was about to explode.
"Let me explain..." She unconsciously took a few steps back, her knees quickly touching the edge of the bed, leaving her with nowhere to retreat. However, Xiao Sui did not stop. The tip of his shoe pressed against her shoe, trapping her between him and the bed.
His expression was terrifying. Ning Qi could feel his demonic energy surging wildly and unstablely around her. She would believe it even if he killed her with his demonic energy the next second.
Ning Qi's adrenaline surged and her hair stood on end with tension. She hurriedly said, "I had no choice but to do this. That female cultivator just used a curse on me, forcing me to do things for her! I didn't want to save them at all!"
After saying that, she thought of the antidote pill she hadn't taken yet, and was overjoyed. This was strong evidence. She raised her hand to take out the pill, but halfway through the movement, she suddenly realized that she was now a complete stranger to Xiao Sui. Even if she had her reasons, it wouldn't change the fact that she had saved Yan Chongyan. If she took out the antidote pill, he might just crush it and end up like that poor key.
"Why did you stop?" Xiao Sui leaned down, his hot breath pressed against hers.
They were so close that Ning Xi could count the number of his raven-feather-like eyelashes. She backed away and plopped down on the bed.
Xiao Sui grabbed her wrist and pressed his other hand against the bed beside her, sinking deep into it.
She was shrouded in his shadow, as if a tight, airtight net surrounded her, making it hard for her to breathe.
"What? Are you afraid to take out the Demon-Slaying Powder?" Xiao Sui questioned her through gritted teeth, his eyes reddening. "You poisoned me to save him."
"I didn't poison you," Ning Qi hurriedly explained. "It was just a sleeping pill, it won't harm you at all, and you're fine, aren't you!"
"Even if it's poison, I'll take it," Xiao Sui said softly, his voice almost instantly dissipating into the air.
Ningxi still managed to capture it.
Wait a minute, she thought for a moment and realized that his words were strange. She looked up and saw his aggrieved look, and suddenly a possibility occurred to her, and her heart started to pound.
Fearing it was just her imagination, she cautiously asked, "Do you know me?"
Xiao Sui remained silent, and the room became extremely quiet, with a suffocating atmosphere that seemed to press against Ning Qi's chest.
She waited for an answer, her breath almost stopping.
Suddenly, Xiao Sui gave a self-deprecating laugh and softly repeated her words, "Do I know you?"
He gripped her wrist tightly, and Ning Xi felt her fingers go numb. She struggled for a moment.
Xiao Sui forcefully pulled her wrist to his chest.
She looked at his hand and noticed that he was gripping it so tightly that his knuckles were white and his hand was trembling slightly.
Ning Qi looked up, puzzled, and met Xiao Sui's eyes.
"You actually asked me if I know you?" Xiao Sui laughed loudly with his head down, and only looked at her again after a long while.
His eyes welled up with tears, and Ning Qi inappropriately thought of a puppy with wet eyes.
As the candle hissed and crackled, he parted his lips and uttered a name that was all too familiar—
"Princess."
Ning Qi felt her blood run cold and stared wide-eyed in disbelief.
Her heart pounded like a drum in her ears, giving her a momentary ringing in her ears. Dizzy, she asked, "Xiao Sui, you recognized me?"
“I recognized you from the very beginning.”
“How is that possible…” Ning Xi shook her head. She had changed bodies again, how could he have recognized her from the very beginning!
The demonic energy enveloped her entire body, replacing his fingers as it gently caressed her eyebrows, nose, and lips.
“Princess.” Xiao Sui leaned forward, his hair falling on her, rising and falling with her breath.
He said with a tender expression, "I know all your expressions, the movements of your cheek muscles, the curve of your mouth, and your body's reactions."
Ning Qi stared blankly at him as demonic energy reached her earlobe, carrying a damp, cold sensation, like an icy tongue licking at her.
She instinctively shrank her neck, and Xiao Sui's warm fingertips replaced the demonic energy as he gently rubbed her ear. "You see, you really like it when I touch you here."
Ning Qi was completely unable to react.
"That's how I've always felt about you." Xiao Sui's voice trailed off onto her earlobe.
The familiar tingling sensation assaulted Ning Qi's senses, goosebumps rose from her skin, and she unconsciously curled her fingers.
Xiao Sui's demonic energy and lips entwined on her cheeks at the same time.
The air was filled with heat, and Ningqi was completely absorbed in it.
No, she desperately tried to regain her composure, turning her head away from the heat source. "So you recognized me all along, but watched me drug you and run to the dungeon?"
"Yes," Xiao Sui stepped back and admitted.
"Why do you do this?" Ning Qi asked him, puzzled.
Xiao Sui stared at her with deep eyes, "I want to see what you want to do after you come back to my side."
No wonder she had such a smooth journey. She lured the demons away as she pleased; it was all at Xiao Sui's behest.
She was a little angry. "I told you, I've been bewitched."
“You could have told me about this, and I would have helped you resolve it.” Xiao Sui tucked her hair behind her ear, his demonic energy brushing across her cheek, leaving a cool sensation. “Why do you always abandon me and give up on me? Ten years ago, and today.”
Ning Xi's goosebumps hadn't subsided. She felt that Xiao Sui seemed to have gone mad; he was no longer the obedient servant who followed him by his side ten years ago.
"I..." She opened her mouth, wanting to explain, but she couldn't mention the system, nor could she mention Zhizhi's claim of having ten women a month. What if he got angry and punished Zhizhi?
Just as she was caught in a dilemma, Xiao Sui pressed his finger to her lips, his face dark and inscrutable, his pupils devoid of any light. "Princess, now that he's dead, will you finally look at me?"
Ning Qi hurriedly grabbed his sleeve.
Yan Chongyan's death would mean leaving this world, but he cannot die.
But if she were to say it, it would be like adding fuel to the fire.
Xiao Sui looked at her hand, as if he understood the meaning in her expression.
He chuckled softly, "I understand."
Ning Qi felt the demonic energy on his body become chaotic again. She was horrified to feel the demonic energy that had been swirling around her face move to her chest and seep into her skin. Her heart quickly began to heat up.
Xiao Sui wanted to kill her? Because he thought she was only thinking about Yan Chongyan?
No, she didn't feel any pain at all. Instead, her chest felt like it was soaking in hot water, warm and very comfortable.
"What are you doing?" Ning Qi asked.
"Cleanse the poison from your body."
The demonic energy drew out the antidote pill and poison from Ning Qi's arms, causing them to float lightly onto the table.
“This antidote pill has side effects,” Xiao Sui said coldly. “If you don’t believe me, you can continue to take it.”
Ning Qi glanced at the things on the table, not understanding how the person who was just fierce had suddenly become stern and helped her remove the curse.
The demonic energy receded from her chest and returned to Xiao Sui.
Xiao Sui half-squatted down, looking up at her as before, his tone resolute, "Princess, I will obey your orders and not kill Yan Chongyan, but I will not let you leave me again."
"……What's the meaning?"
"That means from now on, you can't leave this room. If you need anything, just tell Zhizhi, and I'll prepare it for you."
Ning Qi's eyes widened, and she stood up abruptly. "You're planning to lock me up? On what grounds?"
"Because whenever I see you standing with Yan Chongyan, I can't help but want to kill him."
Xiao Sui gripped the edge of the bed tightly with his fingers, and black mist swirled around his eyes, making his face look extremely gloomy.
Ning Qi had no doubt about the truthfulness of his words.
Despair was evident in Xiao Sui's eyes. "If you want him to live, he must stay by my side."
Ning Qi was stunned.
He had already stood up and walked out of the house.
Then came the clear sound of the door locking.
Ning Xi then realized what was going on! Xiao Sui recognizing her only made things worse.
Ning Qi walked around the room. There were two suites, one inside and one outside. Although the room was big enough and the lighting seemed to be good, who could stand being locked up here all the time?
She tried again, but the window couldn't be opened wide enough for anyone to squeeze through.
She lay dejectedly on the bed, wondering how things had come to this.
As she was thinking, she was probably too tired and fell asleep.
Is it her?
"The Demon God was furious yesterday. She tormented that man, turning him over and over in the water, almost killing him. It gave me a huge fright. Was it because of her?"
“That’s right, it’s her. I told you long ago, she looks just like the princess. I feel a familiar aura about her.”
Ning Xi felt like there were eight hundred voices in her ears, and she almost thought she was sleeping on the street. She covered her ears and turned over.
"Your sleeping posture was a bit off."
"Watch your words, or the Demon God will throw you into the water dungeon too."
Ning Qi couldn't take it anymore. She kicked off the blanket, sat up, and opened her eyes to see the somewhat familiar black mass.
Xiao Sui has arrived? She looked around but didn't see any familiar figures, and there was no one else around, so she turned her attention back to them. "Can you talk?"
"Yes, yes, yes." Three or four voices rang out at the same time.
"Stop!" Ning Qi was annoyed by the noise. "Send a regiment to talk."
After a brief rustling sound, a mature voice cleared its throat and said, "Hello, young lady. I am the only demon group whose name begins with 'one'. I can answer any questions you may have."
"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" Ning Xi asked.
The creature with the first character said smugly, "We are consciousnesses formed from demonic energy. We came to visit you because you and the Demon God's former lover, Princess Xi, look almost exactly alike, and we are quite curious about you."
Ning Xi raised her eyebrows, quite surprised, "How do you know Princess He Xi?"
“I not only know her, but I also spent some time with her,” said the person with the first character.
"Huh?" Ning Qi was full of questions. Had she lost her memory, or had another Princess He Xi appeared in the world? How come she didn't recognize this arrogant demon group at all?
"Unfortunately, the Demon God and she were destined to be apart and could never grow old together," Ichiji said thoughtfully.
"always?"
"Well, last time Princess Hexi died, the Demon God went mad, and I became twenty years younger. This time, Princess Hexi died, and the Demon God is almost insane. If it weren't for your appearance, I might have gone back to life, hahaha!"
"W-what last time?" Ning Qi pressed, finding it hard to understand.
“There was one time,” the one-character said, “but I can’t remember the specifics. My brain is getting worse and worse.”
“You don’t even have a head,” another small voice said, and several other voices immediately echoed it.
Then these voices drowned out the first syllable: "Don't believe it, it's delusional."
"Yes, it often makes up stories."
Ning Qi frowned and called out to the system, "Do you know what it's saying?"
The system pondered for a moment, "Perhaps there have been other mission takers before us."
"Oh, then go to the God System and retrieve the records. I want to see them."
"Uh, host, I don't have permission," the system said.
Ning Qi narrowed her eyes; this damned system was hiding something from her again.
She looked at the black figure and asked, "Does Xiao Sui know about this?"
The black mass twisted.
She quickly added, "The first ones to speak."
The voice came out, cleared its throat, and said, "He should know. It was after he saw my memories that my mind started acting up."
