Chapter 13 How is he going to face her?
"You're saying the princess pushed Junior Sister Xie down?" Yan Chongyan frowned as he looked at the maid, then turned to Ning Qi. "Is that so?"
"No," Xie Xiyue grabbed her maid, "She's mistaken."
Ning Xi knew it was time for her to perform again, so she pretended to be unwilling and said, "Yes! I pushed her! I was just jealous that she could joke around with Brother Yan. You would never do this to me!"
Yan Chongyan was stunned and couldn't say a word for a long time.
The system said in my mind: "Ding, infatuation value increased by 10, current score 1825, progress 91%."
Alright, with the points in hand, Ning Qi didn't say anything more and had Qian Yu help her to the guest room to change her clothes.
The voice of Bai Yueguang came from behind, "Senior Brother Yan, don't blame the princess. Actually, she didn't push me. I slipped and pulled her down."
"Stop talking." Yan Chongyan interrupted her rudely, took a few steps toward Ning Xi, then stopped in frustration and said to her back, "Princess, after you've changed your clothes, let's talk."
Ning Qi nodded reluctantly, suspecting that he was preparing to lecture her.
Last time she waited for him to get sick, he nagged her for a long time.
A maid from the Xie family found a set of clothes for Ning Xi, and it fit her perfectly. Even the color suited her well; it was a flamboyant red.
"That's strange. You and Miss Xie are clearly not the same height, so why does this dress seem to be tailor-made for you?" Qianyu asked, expressing the same question as she helped her put it on.
She was indeed shorter than Xie Xiyue, "maybe it's because of the clothes she made a few years ago."
“But this isn’t the color Miss Xie likes.” Qianyu said softly, helping Ningxi fasten her belt and smoothing out the fine wrinkles on her shoulders and collar. “Alright, Princess.”
Ning Qi stepped out of the house, and a gust of wind made her head feel a little dizzy.
She thought to herself, "Oh no, I'm probably going to get sick again. I need to go back and drink some herbal medicine, then wrap myself in the blankets and get a good night's sleep."
“Princess.” Yan Chongyan had been waiting in the courtyard.
Ning Qi responded, feeling a chill run through her body, and frowned uncomfortably.
Yan Chongyan walked towards her with a stern face and said, "Please don't do anything that lowers your status like this anymore. It will bother me a lot."
Ning Xi cracked her knuckles, trying to distract herself from the dizziness, and looked up, saying, "You're my fiancé, we're engaged, yet you're laughing and joking with other people, while giving me the cold shoulder. Have you ever considered my feelings? I'm just jealous of her, so what if I want to embarrass her?"
Yan Chongyan was somewhat taken aback. After a moment, he frowned and said, "Next time, you can take it out on me. If you have any anger, please vent it on me. Don't involve innocent people."
That sounds alright, but her persona is that of a spoiled, willful, and unreasonable person. Ning Xi raised her voice: "You're still protecting her at a time like this!"
Yan Chongyan sighed helplessly, "I don't want to argue with you. You've caught a cold, so go back first."
"You think I'm being unreasonable? Fine, I'm leaving! You can go and joke around with Xie Xiyue!"
With these words, Ning Xi's performance was finally over. He quickly patted Qian Yu and asked her to help him leave the Xie residence. They then boarded a carriage and used the teleportation array to return to Hua Guang Sect before sunset.
Zhizhi came out to greet them and saw that Ningqi had changed her clothes and even taken off her head ornaments. She immediately asked, "What happened?"
As Qianyu spoke to her, she helped Ningxi back to her bedroom, helped her lie down, and then went to prepare a warming soup.
Ning Xi lay down in bed, drank her medicine, and drifted off to sleep, not even noticing that Xiao Sui hadn't come out to greet her.
She woke up that night from the cold, her body shivering uncontrollably, and even wrapping herself tightly in the blankets did not help.
"Qianyu." Her voice was hoarse and she could only utter a weak sound.
She heard soft footsteps beside her, and turning her head, she vaguely saw that it was Xiao Sui walking towards her.
"What's wrong?" he asked softly.
Ning Qi's vision was a little blurry, but hearing his voice made her feel a bit more at ease. She said with some grievance, "I feel unwell."
Xiao Sui's hand landed on her forehead.
“You have a fever,” he said. “I’ll go get someone.”
Xiao Sui touched the table inside the room, then quickly went out and called Qian Yu over. He couldn't help her much, so he stood alone in the corridor.
In the pitch-black world, only the light of candles could be barely seen. The sounds of maids walking back and forth could be heard, along with Princess Hexi's soft groans as she refused to take her medicine.
A gentle breeze blew across his body, and his thin clothes gave off a chill.
He just stood there, unable to understand why the person who saved him and the person who harmed him were siblings.
My memories of this princess are few and far between; I know nothing about what she looks like.
He never cared about anyone in the sect, nor did he interact with anyone. He only knew about her title because Master Jingyan had mentioned it a few times.
He couldn't help but wonder what the princess would do if she knew that the person he wanted to kill was her own brother.
They probably won't send him to those filthy places, but they'll at least punish him severely and regret saving his hands and feet.
Xiao Sui clenched his fist, and his wrist throbbed with pain.
He chuckled self-deprecatingly. Just as Master Jingyan had said, he was destined to be a solitary and cursed person, and those close to him would ultimately be harmed by him.
“Young Master Xiao, Miss wants you to come in,” Qianyu said to him.
Xiao Sui let go of the door and touched the door frame, wanting to go back into the house.
Qianyu called him back and whispered, "Miss has been wronged today, please comfort her."
"Who could possibly make the princess suffer?" Xiao Sui thought sarcastically.
Back inside, the air was thick with the smell of herbs, which smelled bitter.
He groped his way to the bedside, squatted down, and called out, "Miss."
"Xiao Sui." The blanket was pulled back with a soft sound, and a hot hand grabbed his wrist. "Give me your hand, I'm so cold."
Xiao Sui obediently reached out his hand, and was suddenly pulled into the warm quilt by her.
His heart felt as if it had been touched by something, a light and soft sensation enveloping him. Xiao Sui felt it in a daze, and slowly grasped Ning Qi's fingers.
"I'll stay with you," he said solemnly.
As for what happens in the future, we'll think about that later.
Ning Xi turned over, her soft breath brushing against his cheek. The bitter smell of medicine seeped into his skin. Her head had somehow moved closer to his chest, her fluffy hair brushing against his neck, making him feel a little itchy.
He heard her mutter softly, "It's still so cold, come closer."
Xiao Sui thought for a moment, then took off his shoes and socks and pulled her into his arms through the blanket.
The princess gave a satisfied hum and finally calmed down.
——
Ningxi had a dream in which she was walking on the eaves of a house, and her hands were shaped like steamed buns.
A chubby male tabby cat jumped up from a short distance away, raised its tail to greet her, but she was annoyed and hissed at it a few times to chase it away.
This time, no one bothered her. She carefully turned her head to look at her furry body and confirmed that she was a very beautiful little calico.
She lightly jumped off the roof and landed steadily on the ground. She surveyed her territory, then entered the largest room with practiced ease and jumped onto the bed.
There was a bulge on the bed; to be precise, a person was lying on it.
Ning Xi couldn't see his face clearly, but he seemed used to her actions. He only let out a soft gasp when he was woken up, and then pulled her into his arms.
Her claws landed on the man, pinching him to confirm that it was the same man whose chest she had pinched last time.
As the top of her head was gently stroked by fingers, Ning Qi squinted her eyes and nestled comfortably. Suddenly, she caught a glimpse of the metal plate on the man's neck out of the corner of her eye.
She didn't know what it was, but she had a bad feeling about it. She opened her mouth, bit down on the metal piece, and tried to remove it from the man's neck.
The man seemed to be awakened by her movements. He chuckled, put his index finger into her mouth, stopped her teeth, and said in a deep, slightly hoarse voice, "Don't bite this, it's bad for your teeth. Didn't I make you a new teething toy?"
As he spoke, he heard a rustling sound; the person seemed to be groping for something.
Ningxi persisted in gnawing on the metal plate on his neck, meowing twice, trying to tell him that she wasn't trying to grind her teeth, but that the thing was broken!
Ning Qi's head was suddenly nudged, and she opened her eyes to find that she was not only biting a piece of metal, but also a finger.
She was stunned for a moment, then looked up and saw Xiao Sui's handsome face so close to hers, and was startled.
What's going on?! She suddenly let go, backed away on the bed and wriggled twice, almost bumping into the bedpost.
How could she be lying next to Xiao Sui! And she even bit his neck!
Upon closer inspection, one could see that Xiao Sui's index finger was still covered in her glistening saliva.
Oh my god!
"What's going on?" she asked.
Xiao Sui stopped groping for something and suddenly came to his senses. "Princess, you caught a cold yesterday and are feeling chilly. I'll warm your bed for you."
"Wait a minute." Ning Qi's surprise subsided, and she turned her attention to something else. "How did you know my identity? Did someone tell you?"
Xiao Sui pondered for a moment, just about to speak, when a voice came from outside.
"Miss Xie, our princess is still sleeping, you can't go in."
“Then I’ll wait here for her to wake up, and then I’ll go see her.” Bai Yueguang’s worried voice came from behind. “The princess fell ill because of me, and I have to see her before I can put my mind at ease.”
“You… well, you just wait.” Zhizhi’s voice rang out.
Ning Qi listened intently, finding it all quite intriguing. When did this "white moonlight" become so concerned about her? Besides, wasn't it Ning Qi who caused her to fall into the water? She really didn't know what Ning Qi was thinking.
Is it just for show? But the male lead isn't here, and she won't go out and say good things about him. Who is she putting on a show for?
The heat source beside her disappeared, and a cool breeze blew by. Xiao Sui had already gotten off the bed, bent down, and squatted beside her bed. "Was it that woman outside who made you sick? Do you need me to get rid of her for you?"
As expected of a villain, he tries to eliminate the white moonlight right from the start.
Ning Qi felt that such a thought was inappropriate and quickly stopped him, "No need, we are all fellow disciples, let's not fight and kill each other all the time."
Xiao Sui pursed his lips and remained silent.
Xie Xiyue's voice came from outside again, "Zhizhi, is the princess still not awake? I can hear some noise inside, why don't you go in and take a look?"
"Oh dear, she's quite persistent," Ning Qi cleared her throat and said, "I'm already awake, but I'm too weak to see guests. Zhizhi, please take Miss Xie back."
"Please go ahead," Zhizhi said.
"No, Princess, I won't feel at ease if I don't go in. I'll just sit here and wait until you want to see me, then I'll go in."
Ning Xi: "?"
Why is she so insistent on seeing me?
She glanced at Xiao Sui beside her. The main reason was that she wasn't in a good position to be seen right now. If she found out that she was keeping a man in a secret place and went around spreading the word, and the male lead found out, she would definitely lose all her points.
Xiao Sui seemed to understand her thoughts and said, "Princess, I'll hide in the wardrobe first."
