Chapter 90: Burying the Maid

"Okay, well, will you bury her when she dies?"

Lin Jiuxi thought to himself that even if she was a slave during her lifetime, she would end up in a grave after her death.

Nangong Jing said unhappily, "They are just lowly slaves. For someone like this who made a mistake and was beaten to death, it's good enough that they weren't sent to a mass grave. Who will bury her?"

When Lin Jiuxi heard this, he felt a little touched.

She absolutely couldn't believe that it was already difficult for a person to live in this world, but there was not even a grave after death.

This kind of class slavery made her very uncomfortable.

But now she was powerless to change it. After all, she had traveled through time for so long, and she had already gotten used to being served by others. What qualifications did she have to judge others?

But Lin Jiuxi couldn't sleep that night, still because of the death.

Nangong Jing did not notice anything unusual about Lin Jiuxi. There were many stars in the night, blinking in the sky. Lin Jiuxi looked at them and fell into his own memories. Yes, he suddenly missed modern life.

But there was a voice in her heart telling her that she could never go back.

An idea flashed through his mind. Lin Jiuxi thought for a while, went back to the house to find a cloak, and left the mansion in the night.

I went around the mansion and went straight to the corner gate. Before I got close, I saw two people coming out of the corner gate, one of them was dragging a sack.

There was a carriage parked at the entrance of the corner gate. The two men put the sacks on the carriage and drove away immediately.

When Lin Jiuxi saw this scene, he thought to himself that the maid who was beaten to death must be in the sack.

Seeing that the carriage was about to go away, Lin Jiuxi chased after it regardless of everything. However, when passing the corner gate, he smelled a faint smell of blood in the air, which made Lin Jiuxi even more certain that he was not wrong.

The carriage stopped in a very desolate place. Lin Jiuxi didn't dare to follow too closely for fear of being discovered. He could only watch the two people dragging the sacks from a distance. He simply threw the sacks at a place, clapped his hands and left.

Lin Jiuxi looked around and made sure that no one was around before she sneaked forward and untied the sack, revealing a blurry head from inside. She screamed in surprise, then covered her mouth and looked around in horror, thinking to herself that this was a close call.

Only after dragging the whole person out of the sack could we see clearly that there was no injury on the head, it just looked scary because of the bleeding. The scary part was the maid's buttocks, which was so bloody that it was impossible to tell.

Lin Jiuxi trembled as he put his hand under the maid's nose, but she was no longer breathing. He couldn't believe it, so he put his ear to the maid's chest to listen for a heartbeat.

But Lin Jiuxi was very disappointed, and his heartbeat stopped.

She had confirmed that the maid was indeed dead.

For some reason, a feeling of sadness spread through Lin Jiuxi's heart. She believed that she was not a saint, but a living life just disappeared like that. She felt indescribable pain. Although this person had nothing to do with her, she still felt sad.

After a while, Lin Jiuxi wiped away the tears that had fallen from his face, buried the woman simply, and went back again under the cover of night.

In fact, Lin Jiuxi didn’t know that everything she did was seen by Nangong Jing.

From the moment she left the mansion, Nangong Jing followed her and watched her.

When he saw Lin Jiuxi burying the girl, he was shocked and wondered if Lin Jiuxi had some hidden relationship with the maid. But he immediately dismissed the idea.

He believed that Lin Jiuxi was not that kind of person.

When Lin Jiuxi returned to the mansion, it was almost dawn. Perhaps because she had buried the maid with her own hands, she felt much better. She also felt tired all of a sudden, so she yawned and went back to sleep.

She never thought that what she did would be discovered. Nangong Jing followed her and naturally knew everything. Surprisingly, he did not ask her to eat. Lin Jiuxi naturally slept well and did not wake up until the evening.

The army was ready to go. It turned out that Nangong Jing was going to take a part of the army to the next city. After hearing about it, Lin Jiuxi immediately rushed over.

General Zhang Yan was discussing this matter with Nangong Jing in the study. Lin Jiuxi saw that the door was closed and tactfully did not disturb them, but waited quietly at the door.

When it was completely dark, as soon as light shone through the door, they had finished their discussion.

Lin Jiuxi's feet felt a little numb.

"General, have you finished your discussion?"

"When did you come, Princess?"

"I've been here for a long time. I saw the door was closed and knew you were talking about something, so I've been waiting here."

"Why don't you come in, then?"

Zhang Yan felt that since Lin Jiuxi was the princess and was now with the prince, it was nothing for her to hear about such things.

Lin Jiuxi didn't know what he was thinking of. He shook his head and said, "I don't have anything to do. Where's the prince?"

"It's inside, please, Princess!"

After watching Zhang Yan walk out of the courtyard, Lin Jiuxi entered the study.

Nangong Jing saw Lin Jiuxi coming over, so he asked casually: "Have you had dinner?"

Lin Jiuxi was a little surprised, but still nodded: "I have eaten."

Nangong Jing saw that her face looked okay, but thinking about her behavior last night, he felt like there was a thorn in his heart.

But he pretended that nothing had happened and deliberately asked, "I have slept all day, but I can't sleep at night. What should I do?"

These words immediately surprised Lin Jiuxi, but she didn't dare to say anything. She also felt strange when she woke up just now. She slept too soundly all day.

When Nangong Jing asked, she realized something was wrong. It turned out that the other person was so kind as not to disturb her and let her sleep well.

Nangong Jing waved his hand and asked Lin Jiuxi to sit next to him, and his voice was indeed much quieter.

"What did you do last night? Even if you don't tell me, I know what your relationship is with that dead maid."

Nangong Jing originally didn't want to ask about this, but he couldn't help his curiosity. This was also the first time he was so curious about a woman's behavior.

Lin Jiuxi didn't expect that everything he did was seen by Nangong Jing.

She immediately wanted to slap herself twice. She thought she had done it very secretly, but she didn't expect to be discovered anyway.

Seeing Lin Jiuxi remained silent, Nangong Jing became more and more curious, "Do you know that maid? Or do you know the origin of that maid?"
