Chapter 18 His Gift
the next day.
When Si Tang woke up, he subconsciously turned over in bed, slowly opened his eyes, and suddenly saw someone sitting beside the bed. Si Tang was startled.
Fan Yi sat there, propping up his face, staring at her for who knows how long. His expression was unclear in the dim light, but he didn't shy away from her gaze when he saw her wake up.
That was no longer the way he looked at "food" in the past, but Si Tang couldn't describe it for the moment.
He wrapped his arms around her, "You're awake."
"Why are you here?" Si Tang asked subconsciously, then was stunned.
This was his territory, so it was a strange question, but he never showed up at this time. And besides her bed.
Weird, indescribably weird.
Before Si Tang could sort out his thoughts, Fan Yi pulled out a gorgeous dress from his sleeve as if he was taking out Doraemon's pocket.
The skirt was light blue, and it shone brightly in the candlelight, as if broken diamonds were scattered on it.
The skirt fell gently in front of Si Tang.
"After getting up and having dinner, I'll take you to see the butterflies." Fan Yi said.
Si Tang nodded immediately upon hearing this, his eyes full of anticipation. He hadn't left the cave for a long time and was almost bored to death every day.
This time, Fan Yi left on his own accord without waiting for Si Tang to expel him.
Si Tang waited for him to leave, took the skirt and put it on, sighing with emotion.
It was so beautiful that even Si Tang, who had a wide range of knowledge since childhood, could not help but be amazed.
The skirt is ankle-length, transitioning from crescent white at the collarbone to deep sea mist blue at the hem. The shoulder straps overlap in the shape of coral branches, and two strings of teardrop-shaped aquamarine hang down at the end. The ethereal sound is tapped with each step, as if the lingering sound of ancient chimes coming from the depths of the underwater temple.
Si Tang couldn't tell what material it was made of.
It doesn't look like something made by humans at all.
Si Tang changed into her skirt and cautiously lifted it to leave the inner chamber of the stone cave. When she walked through the long stone path and arrived at the cave entrance, she saw Fan Yi sitting at the long table in the center, seemingly waiting for her to eat.
At dawn, the sunlight outside the cave pierced through the morning mist, scattering across a dreamlike landscape. Unknown flowers blossomed freely, a swing entwined with vines swayed slightly, and a remarkably handsome man sat quietly, gazing at her.
If it weren't for his previous bad behavior, if she hadn't been "imprisoned" here, she would definitely think that this was a beautiful dream that she only wanted to never wake up from.
Fan Yi's gaze fell on the newly emerged Si Tang. He felt she looked like a lost spirit, even more beautiful than any goddess he had ever seen. Her dark hair fell unadorned to her waist, and her unpainted oval face revealed a hint of innocence. Yet, he knew how cunning she was.
But she seemed distracted, and Fan Yi felt a surge of irritability rising from the depths of his heart, stronger than ever before. However, he quickly concealed it.
Here we go again, what is this human thinking?
Si Tang sat opposite him in a daze, and his gaze moved down to her bare feet.
Si Tang suddenly felt her ankle being grabbed. She looked down in shock and saw Fan Yi holding a crystal slipper in his hand.
"I forgot."
Before Si Tang could react, he had already put it on her.
He quickly let go and walked back to his seat as if nothing had happened, as if what he had just done was a very ordinary thing.
Si Tang is still petrified.
So, are these the privileges of being a “friend”?
Si Tang touched the tip of her nose. Since he didn't mention it, it would be even harder for her to bring it up.
Even if you say the word "ambiguous" to this fish, he won't understand.
After Si Tang finished breakfast, Fan Yi took her out of the cave.
The wind is clear and the sun is bright.
Si Tang took a deep breath and felt the long-lost freedom, even if it was short-lived.
Suddenly, a slender jade-like hand stretched out from her side, palm facing upward. Si Tang looked over and saw Fan Yi signaling to her.
"Tangtang, follow me closely."
"Um?"
She tilted her head slightly and wanted to ask something, but her hand was suddenly held by him forcibly. Then he exerted a little force, and Si Tang fell into his arms.
Si Tang felt Fan Yi holding her waist tightly.
“Huh?!”
She screamed in surprise, her eyes blurred and a sharp wind blew past her ears. Si Tang couldn't help but close her eyes tightly because of the strong airflow.
She slowly opened her eyes after her feet touched the ground.
This small island actually has a lake in the middle of it. Milky white mist covers the emerald water, and millions of blue morpho butterflies create a dreamlike variation.
The glass butterfly's wings trembled, like a waterfall of stardust.
Falling into Si Tang's astonished eyes, she exclaimed in amazement at the beautiful things.
“So beautiful!”
Seeing her happy look, Fan Yi curled up the corners of his lips.
"And these."
He opened his palm, a white light flashed, and several monarch butterflies woke up in his palm, with golden lines on their wings, and they spread their wings gorgeously and flew between the two of them.
If Si Tang remembered correctly, this monarch butterfly was clearly nocturnal.
"How many did you catch?" Si Tang sighed.
He probably caught all the butterflies from several small islands.
Fan Yi did not comment.
Si Tang thought for a moment and continued, "Let's put them back home later."
Upon hearing this, Fan Yi lowered his eyelashes and looked at her, "Why? Tangtang doesn't like it?"
He was completely shrouded in shadow.
Si Tang didn't know if it was an illusion, but he felt the air turn cold. Looking at those deep blue eyes, Si Tang felt a little scared. Si Tang didn't know what was wrong with what he had said just now.
"I like it, I like it." Her voice gradually lowered.
"Then why not keep them all?" He slowly curved his lips and spoke softly, as if it was a matter of course.
Si Tang pondered for a moment and said to him, "But if so many butterflies were to stay here, it would disrupt the ecological balance. Some of them wouldn't be able to adapt to the ecological environment here, and many would die."
"Oh?" He stroked his chin, as if thinking seriously. After a pause, he said, "I understand."
Si Tang: “?”
"I have a gift for you tomorrow morning." He reached out and touched her hair with a cheerful expression, as if he had solved a difficult problem. "You'll definitely like it."
"?"
However, his skillful head-patting action made Si Tang mistakenly think that he was a pet for a moment.
If Si Tang knew what gift he would receive tomorrow, he would definitely not answer that he liked butterflies when he was asked what he liked.
At that time, she was still in a good mood and appreciated everything that seemed like a fairyland.
In the sunshine, the girl ran and twirled among a swarm of butterflies, her aquamarine skirt gleaming brightly in the breeze. Her brilliant, pure smile caught Fan Yi's eye, but he simply watched quietly from a distance.
A swarm of swallowtail butterflies flew around the arc of her raised hand, making the girl look particularly beautiful.
Si Tang seemed to have forgotten everything, forgotten the identity of the person in front of him, and forgotten that he was trapped on a deserted island.
Until his wrist was caught, Si Tang looked up at him in confusion.
"Are you going back?" She said in a lost tone.
Fan Yi shook his head and said to her with a curved lip, "Want to play?"
"What?"
"Take you flying."
As soon as he finished speaking, a trident flew out from the bottom of the sea. Fan Yi held her and turned over and stepped on it. He held her from behind. The trident became as big as a boat and carried the two of them towards the center of the lake. Butterflies fluttered between them. Si Tang couldn't help but open his arms and smile.
Fan Yi quietly lowered his head and looked at the girl in his arms, his narrow eyes becoming deeper and deeper.
Finally, he slowly bent down, leaned close to Si Tang's ear, and spoke in a gentle and clear voice.
"Tangtang, will we be friends forever?"
Upon hearing this, Si Tang kept smiling and answered without thinking.
"Of course! We're friends forever!"
At this moment, Si Tang just wanted to settle the score. From now on, she and the mermaid would be friends. And when she left this place, she would not forget that Fan Yi was her friend.
When the man behind him heard this, the smile on his lips deepened, and it was deep and meaningful. He lowered his eyelashes and looked at the girl in his arms, as if he wanted to lock her in his sight forever.
Yes, Tangtang, we are friends forever.
