Chapter 1

Chapter 1

"Would you like some hot water, sir?"

The young man took the cup of water handed to him by the staff and thanked him politely.

This is a private psychological counseling agency with a warm-toned design and soothing and pleasant music playing in the lobby.

Because it was a holiday, the number of people coming for consultation was twice as many as usual, and some looked worried or anxious.

Compared with them, the quiet and peaceful young people seemed a little out of place.

After the staff member had finished serving everyone else, he returned to the front desk and noticed that his colleague's eyes were always on the young person, so he patted her.

The colleague came back to his senses and said in a low voice, "Mr. Wen is really handsome."

Another person who had just finished filling out a form looked over when he heard this.

The young man was wearing an apricot-colored quilted windbreaker on the outside and a simple long-sleeved shirt underneath, with his slim and smooth lines extending all the way to his waist.

The wind blew past the window, causing the dead leaves to rustle. He tilted his head slightly, revealing his delicate cheeks.

It is indeed very pretty, the man thought.

Sitting on the sofa next to the young man were a mother and daughter; the child looked no more than six years old.

From the moment she came in until now, the mother has kept her head down, tightly holding the child's wrist, without saying a word.

The child licked his slightly dry lips and reached for the hot water on the table.

Her arms were obviously not long enough, so she couldn't reach the cup of water. She looked to the side for help and saw her mother with a gloomy face. She moved her lips but didn't say anything.

Just as she was struggling, a bony hand reached out from the side and handed her some hot water.

The girl was stunned for a moment, then met the young man's calm gaze and said thank you in a crisp voice.

The little incident between them was seen by the front desk staff, who felt a little regretful for a moment.

How could such a handsome and gentle person have psychological problems?

After handing the cup of water to the girl, Wen Xin sat back quietly.

After a while, he heard the front desk calling him.

"Mr. Wen, it's your turn."

This was not the first time Wen Xin came here. He found his way to the consultant's office with ease, and the previous consultant had just come out.

He knocked on the door, heard someone say "Come in", and went in.

The consultation room is warmly decorated, with warm yellow wallpaper, green plants swaying in the wind by the windows, and even two big plush bears on the sofa.

Noticing Wen Xin's lingering gaze on them, the counselor smiled and said, "You can hug it."

Wen Xin didn't hesitate and held the plush bear in his arms.

The tentacles were covered with fine, soft fur, which was quite different from the black balls he had touched before.

The hairs on the black ball are like sharp barbs, slightly hard and can prick your hand quite a lot.

The counselor opened Wen Xin's file and began to record.

Psychological counseling usually takes about an hour, but Wen Xin only needed half an hour because he was very cooperative and would basically answer truthfully whatever the counselor asked.

Except for family-related issues, they will keep silent.

Wen Xin had no bad habits, because he was even-tempered, not competitive, and there was almost nothing that made people dislike him.

But he has always been quiet and has difficulty establishing close and friendly relationships with others. The counselor guessed that the problem may lie in his family.

To this end, he encouraged Wen Xinduo to interact with soft, cute and harmless small animals, and if conditions permit, to try to raise a pet to please his soul.

Wen Xin listened.

During one of his previous visits, he mentioned to the counselor a pet store near his home, but in subsequent visits, he talked more about a stray black cat that had just appeared in the neighborhood.

Seeing people showing interest in the cat, the counselor also encouraged him: "If you are sure it is a stray cat and it does not mind your approach, you can take it home."

As autumn arrives, the weather turns cold rapidly. Stray animals are more likely to get sick, and in serious cases their lives may be in danger.

In addition, there are many psychopaths in this world who enjoy abusing animals. Since the law prevents them from harming humans, they turn around and kill unattended stray animals, making the living environment of stray animals even more severe.

These words made Wen Xin alert.

The black ball rarely let him get close to it. Only once did he touch its hair, which was covered with dried and coagulated blood clots.

Wen Xin wasn't sure if there were any wounds hidden under the thick hair.

There are people coming and going in the community, and most of those feeding the cats are retired elderly people, so it is impossible to tell who did it.

He considered raising a cat more seriously, and the last time he came, he had already made up his mind to do it.

The counselor asked him a few routine questions, and then asked with a smile: "Last time you said you wanted to take Xiao Hei home, how did it turn out?"

Winsington paused, shook his head and said, "I talked to it, and it wasn't very willing."

The counselor immediately had an image of a man and a cat meowing at each other in his mind.

He coughed lightly and continued, "So how do you talk to it?"

Wen Xin: "I asked it if it wanted to go home with me."

Because the other person was so serious, the counselor thought that he was just as serious when he asked the cat the same question, and he couldn't help but say, "Pfft."

Wen Xin: “?”

The counselor quickly concealed her smile.

He didn't expect that the other person was quite childish.

Cats can't understand human language, so how can they give an answer?

The counselor didn't point it out, but just said: "Human promises are still too vague for animals. They can't feel it. You can use some more practical invitation methods."

Wen Xin pricked up his ears and humbly asked for advice: "For example?"

This was not the first time the consultant had recommended that someone raise a pet. She smiled with experience and said, "For example, prepare some cat food or canned cat food."

.

It is mostly rainy in autumn, and the sky gets darker faster than in summer.

Wen Xin walked out of the institution and a gust of cold wind blew, ruffling his hair.

There was a thin layer of fog in the sky, and he was worried that it would rain soon, so he quickened his pace and headed home.

When walking into the community garden, Wen Xin found that there were many people gathered downstairs, with noisy voices and everyone looking up at the sky.

He looked over and saw a trembling little hairy head sticking out from the beam between the tall buildings. His expression changed slightly.

The intermittent conversations nearby helped to piece together the whole story.

"…The window was not locked properly, so the cat escaped. The owner called a cat rescue organization, and they came and are trying to save it."

"It was windy upstairs, and the cat was frightened and refused to move. It was also too far from the owner's house, so we had to find a way from the other side. Unfortunately, the owner was away on business."

"What should we do? You see, these people who keep cats don't even know how to close their windows!"

Wen Xin discovered that the cat was very close to his home, just one floor above. Without saying much, he hurried upstairs.

At the door, he ran into the cat owner and people from a cat rescue organization who wanted to borrow his window.

"The beam was too narrow to fit the flight case, so we had to find a way to climb up."

Also, because the beam was too narrow and the wind was strong upstairs, it was difficult for the cat to stand steadily. I don’t know how long the cat can hold on.

The cat owner was very anxious and sincerely said that as long as Wen Xin was willing to help, he would give him a hundred yuan as a thank you fee.

Wen Xin shook his head and refused, then opened the door directly.

The cat rescue organization saw the cat's condition in the video and knew it was not suitable for an airline box, so they brought a safety rope with them this time.

They are experienced amateurs who can try to rescue the cat without taking any risks at this height. But if they are unable to save the cat in the end, they can only call 119.

Seeing the person climbing out of the window, both Wen Xin and others in the house, as well as the crowd watching the excitement downstairs, held their breath involuntarily.

Just at this moment, something unexpected happened.

Thick clouds gathered together, and a faint flash of purple lightning was seen.

Seeing that the situation was not right, Wen Xin hurriedly leaned towards the window. The next second, a deafening thunder exploded in the sky.

"Meow!"

The little cat on the beam was frightened and screamed, half of its body jumped up.

To make matters worse, a strong gale blew up.

Rescuer: "Oh no, cat!"

The cat was blown to the edge of the beam and fell straight down. The rescuers were climbing up, holding on to the railings with both hands, and there was no time to turn back.

The people downstairs opened their mouths slightly, screams already bursting out of their throats.

At the critical moment, a pair of hands quickly and accurately reached out of the window and caught the cat.

“Meow! Meow!”

The cat was frightened and struggled madly with its claws waving. Wen Xin's heart was beating like a drum, and his palms were sweaty. He didn't care about anything else, and rubbed the cat's neck with his fingertips, soothing it continuously.

Perhaps because all four of its feet were on solid ground, the frightened kitten finally calmed down.

It smelled a reassuring scent from the young man in front of it and couldn't help but lick his chin gently.

The cat was rescued!

The stunned crowd suddenly burst into cheers!

"Huanhuan, huanhuan, my huanhuan!"

The cat's owner finally came to his senses. Seeing that the cat was rescued, he almost cried with joy. He rushed over and held the cat back in his arms.

As a result, as soon as the cat's claws moved away, the criss-cross scratches suddenly appeared in front of everyone.

"Hiss." Several people present took a breath of cool air.

Wen Xin has cold white skin and works indoors, away from sunlight all year round, which makes her skin look even whiter and smoother.

The bloody wounds on the skin looked horrible and glaring.

In fact, it was very serious. The kitten was frightened to no end and had at least a dozen scratches on its body.

The cat owner felt extremely guilty and said anxiously, "Yes, I'm sorry, I'll take you to the hospital."

Wen Xin said: "It's okay, I have had rabies vaccinations."

He had looked up information before and found that even if one had never been bitten, one could still get a rabies vaccine, and that effective protection would last for at least half a year. So he got the shot on the day he decided to raise Hei Tuanzi.

But the cat owner was very stubborn and insisted on taking Wen Xin to see a doctor: "You have so many scratches. You have to go to the clinic at the entrance of the community to get them treated at the very least."

When they went downstairs, Wen Xin felt a vague gaze lingering on him.

He looked back and saw the familiar shadow of a cat on the treetop.

Hei Tuanzi usually likes to stand on high places, looking down with his chin slightly raised, looking cold and arrogant.

Only at this moment, its eyes were no longer vertical, but like golden amber, slightly softening towards Wen Xin.

Compared with the other cats, the one he liked didn't look like a stray cat.

Ever since his last invitation was rejected, the black ball has been avoiding him, and Wen Xin hasn't seen it for several days.

He wanted to go over, but saw the black ball leap into the garden and disappeared in a few seconds.

Dark clouds hovered in the sky, and thunder could be heard from time to time.

Tonight will be a rainy night.
