Chapter 12 I Have a Master

"President Mo, there's no need to be so polite. You see, my skills are so weak. I'll be satisfied with just passing the beginner alchemist exam," Dongfang Mian waved her hands repeatedly.

“It’s better for you to cultivate on your own than for a guild to provide you with cultivation resources,” Mo Qinghe and the seven elders advised him in unison.

"Well, okay, to be honest, I have a master, but he doesn't allow me to tell anyone," Dongfang Mian said helplessly, unable to refuse any longer.

Mo Qinghe, with an "I knew it" expression, laughed and said, "I wonder who your master is? If you can become an elder of the Alchemist Guild, your master will surely be proud of you."

“My master said I can’t reveal his name,” Dongfang Mian suddenly said in a low voice.

"Why?" the crowd asked, puzzled.

“My master said, if he said it, someone would die,” Dongfang Mian said in a barely audible voice.

"Is your master a Spirit Emperor level expert?" Mo Qinghe was shocked.

Dongfang Mian did not answer, but simply shook her head and pointed upwards with her finger.

Does this mean above the Spirit Emperor?!

Mo Qinghe felt an invisible hand suddenly clench his heart.

Above the Spirit Emperor, what level is that? There probably isn't one in the entire Tianwu Dynasty. Mo Qinghe looked at Dongfang Mian with awe in his eyes again.

Concerned about Dongfang Mian's master and reluctant to give up her talent, Dongfang Mian finally agreed to become a nominal elder after Mo Qinghe's repeated entreaties. Mo Qinghe could use her example to enhance the reputation of the Alchemist Guild, but he could not expose her situation.

Mo Qinghe then led the elders in swearing that they would not reveal that Master Mu Bai was a powerful figure above the Spirit Emperor level, nor would they investigate Mu Bai's whereabouts. They only asked that she occasionally show her face at the Alchemist Guild and refine a pill for them to use for publicity.

Dongfang Mian readily agreed, and Mo Qinghe, in a great mood, immediately gave Dongfang Mian the badge of an intermediate alchemist. Upon learning that she did not have her own alchemy furnace, he also gave her a valuable alchemy furnace.

Satisfied, I left the Alchemist Guild, only to find that it was already dark when I stepped outside. I hurriedly ran to Linglong Trading Company, just in time to find Jin Xiaoer preparing to close up shop after failing to complete a transaction.

Upon seeing that it was Dongfang Mian, who had been playing tricks on him for half the day, Jin Xiaoer slammed the door shut in annoyance, but Dongfang Mian blocked it with one hand.

Just as he was about to unleash a torrent of curses, a gleaming gold badge was thrust right in front of him.

"I've finished the alchemist exam. Have you packed the pills I asked for?" Dongfang Mian said, stuffing the badge into Jin Xiaoer's arms.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, six dazzling stars shone on the alchemy furnace of that badge. This, this is a six-star intermediate alchemist.

Jin Xiaoer felt like crying. Didn't they say it was just a joke? How could they take it so seriously and make it this big?

Unable to bear the pressure of the badge, Jin Xiaoer remembered that he had almost slammed the door on Dongfang Mian's face just now, and knelt down decisively.

Phew~ It's definitely much more comfortable to talk while kneeling down.

"What are you doing? Get up and get me some pills. I'm in a hurry to get home," Dongfang Mian said, both amused and exasperated.

Jin Xiaoer respectfully returned the badge to Dongfang Mian, welcomed her into the house, closed the door behind him, and hung up a large sign that read "Closed for Business".

After waiting for a while, Dongfang Mian saw Jin Xiaoer come out with a full box of Spirit Gathering Pills, accompanied by Qian Duo, the owner of Linglong Trading Company.
