"Alright, alright, you're a divine beast, so may I ask you, divine beast sir, where are the wolves around here?"
"I disdain associating with those inferior demonic beasts," the orange cat said with an arrogant expression.
"Alright then, I'll go find it myself. See you again, my divine beast master," Dongfang Mian waved and was about to leave.
"Hey, hey, I haven't finished speaking yet, where are you going?" the orange cat called out.
"Didn't you say you didn't know where the wolves were?"
"I didn't call you here to discuss where those stinky wolves live. Come here, I need you to help me break the seal here."
"What if I don't go?" Dongfang Mian thought to herself, how come she hadn't noticed how annoying this big fat cat was?
"I am an ancient divine beast, I can smash you into a meat patty with one slap," the orange cat said, showing off its sharp claws.
"Smack!"
Dongfang Mian made a move, slapping the orange cat against a tree not far away. The chubby orange cat slid down the tree trunk.
"Smash it into a meat patty, like this? Hmph, you can't even beat a Great Spirit Master, and you call yourself an ancient divine beast? You're just a talking cat," Dongfang Mian said disdainfully.
"You! If I hadn't been sealed away for so many years and my strength hadn't been greatly diminished, you, a mere Grand Spirit Master, wouldn't even be enough to fill my teeth."
"Hehehehe..." Dongfang Mian made a face at the orange cat and said, "Then, my divine beast, you should continue to wait here for the next destined person."
"Hey, hey, don't go!" Seeing that Dongfang Mian was really ignoring him and walking further and further away, the orange cat got anxious and shouted loudly, "Come back and help me, I'll help you get the treasure in this mountain range."
A figure suddenly appeared from afar. "What treasure?"
"You're such a materialistic woman... I can't tell you what treasure it is right now. What if I tell you and you run away? Who will I go looking for then?"
"Then I'll help you get out. What if you don't tell me and you run away? Who am I supposed to look for then?" Dongfang Mian had a look on her face that said, "Don't try to fool me."
The orange cat said speechlessly, "Okay, I can only tell you that this treasure fell from the sky some time ago. Many spirit kings and spirit emperors came looking for it, but only I was able to enter the place where the treasure was."
It fell from the sky? Could it be the one I saw that night? Dongfang Mian couldn't help but believe it a little more.
“Alright, I can help you,” Dongfang Mian nodded, extending her hand. “Come on, let’s sign the contract.”
"Contract? What contract?" the orange cat asked, looking completely bewildered.
"A beast-taming contract? You, a divine beast, surely know something about that? I've just thought about it, and this is the safest way. Although you, fat cat, have a bit of a temper, you're still much cleaner than a wolf. This way, we don't have to worry about either of us going back on our word and running away halfway through. Isn't that perfect?"
It's probably better for you to be alone...
"Impossible. I am an ancient divine beast. How could I possibly sign a contract with a lowly great spirit master like you? If you were to die one day and implicate me, I might as well just stay here," the orange cat refused without hesitation.
"Alright, you can stay here then, I'm leaving first," Dongfang Mian said without hesitation.
"Hey, don't go! Let's talk some more! You have to let me refuse a few more times, okay? Hey... baby, baby, don't you want me anymore?"
"I don't want it anymore."
Seeing Dongfang Mian leave so gracefully, the orange cat panicked. It was uncertain how many years it would take to find a destined person to release it. It had been trapped here for tens of thousands of years, and if it remained trapped any longer, it would be worse than death.
Gritting his teeth, he shouted loudly at Dongfang Mian's almost disappeared figure, "Hey, come back, I promised."
