Chapter 11 Night Visit to the Prison
When Jing Siye stepped into his bedroom and cast his eyes towards the ear room, the cold aura around him instantly subsided.
He tiptoed towards Zhu Wenqin's bed, only to see that he was soundly sleeping, with his small body stretched out unrestrainedly on the narrow bed. The pillow that had been neatly placed under his head had now been pushed to the ground.
Jing Siye's eyes were tender: Your injury has healed a little, but you are so restless when sleeping. I'm afraid you will cry if you roll over at night.
Thinking of this, he leaned forward, picked up the pillow that had fallen to the ground, and gently placed it back under his head.
Then, he stretched out his hands, gently lifted up Zhu Wenqin's body, and moved him towards the inside of the bed little by little.
Zhu Wenqin smacked his lips twice in his sleep, and then continued to sleep soundly. His naive look made people laugh.
Jing Siye stood beside the bed, looking at him quietly. After a long time, he turned and left.
——
In the sky prison, a jailer who was delivering food came to a death cell with his head bowed very low, carrying a worn food box in both hands, and walking hurriedly but deliberately lightly.
"General!" The jailer's voice trembled slightly and he almost lost control.
Deep in the prison, a man in white prison uniform heard the shout and slowly raised his head.
A trace of confusion flashed across his eyes, and then he widened his eyes in disbelief, his dry lips trembling slightly:
"Three... Why are you here so late?"
The jailer in front of him was none other than the third prince Jing Sirui in disguise.
Seeing the once majestic general now so haggard, his eyes instantly turned red, and his voice was filled with deep heartache:
"General, you have lost a lot of weight."
The moment Li Xiao saw Jing Sirui, his eyes were filled with undisguised excitement, but in a moment, his gaze suddenly cooled, and he said in a deep voice:
"Thank you for your kindness, Your Highness. I'm afraid this dirty prison will stain the soles of your shoes. Please leave as soon as possible."
Jing Sirui shook his head stubbornly: "I don't want it, General, I finally met you, I want to talk to you more."
"I dare not, Third Prince, there is nothing to say between you and me." Li Xiao turned his head away and no longer looked at Jing Sirui.
Jing Sirui took a step forward, his voice a little aggrieved: "What's wrong? General, how can you say that?"
Li Xiao took a deep breath and said, "I'm sorry, Third Prince, I don't understand what you mean."
Jing Sirui was anxious. He quickly stretched out his hand. There was a red string tied around his wrist, and a small and exquisite jade bead was hung on the string.
"This is what the general gave me on my birthday. How can the general say he doesn't understand it?"
When Li Xiao saw the jade bead, his eyes froze for a moment, but soon returned to their cold and hard state.
He knelt down with a plop, his forehead pressed against the ground, and said in a dull voice:
"I don't know what I did to cause the Third Prince to misunderstand me. I am guilty. I just saw that the Third Prince was about the same age as my nephew, so I just gave him the gift. I hope the prince won't think too much about it."
Jing Sirui's tears immediately flowed uncontrollably:
"No, you didn't do it casually, General Li, you lied to me, just say you lied to me."
"Third Prince, please go back." Li Xiao gritted his teeth and said word by word, his voice revealing unquestionable determination.
At this time, another jailer who had been standing next to Jing Sirui looked around in panic and spoke quickly:
"Third Prince, it's almost time, let's leave."
After saying that, without caring about anything else, he reached out and grabbed Jing Sirui's arm and pulled him out with force.
While struggling, Jing Sirui looked back at Li Xiao, shouting, "General, General..."
Li Xiao didn't get up from the ground until the footsteps of the two people gradually disappeared.
His eyes were bloodshot, his fists were clenched, and his heart was in unbearable pain...
Jing Sirui returned to his Qinghua Palace feeling depressed and did not sleep all night.
The next day, he got up early with dark circles under his eyes, walked to the pond with unsteady steps, and kept throwing stones into the pond.
"Damn Li Xiao, I have been worried sick since you were imprisoned. You actually told me you have nothing to say, even though you tied the rope on my hand yourself."
"Stinky Li Xiao..."
"Rui'er." A gentle voice came from behind. Jing Sirui turned around when he heard the voice and saw the pregnant Concubine Chen standing not far away. Her figure looked a little bloated, but the gentle temperament radiating from her inside out was not diminished at all.
"Your son greets your mother."
Jing Sirui quickly straightened his clothes, stepped forward and saluted, with a look of depression still lingering on his face.
"No need to be so polite."
Concubine Chen walked lightly to Jing Sirui's side and could see at a glance that he was unhappy.
She took Jing Sirui's hand distressedly and asked softly:
"What happened? Who made my Rui'er unhappy? Tell mother and I will take care of it for you."
Jing Sirui felt warm in his heart after hearing this, but when he thought about what happened in the prison, he felt guilty. He lowered his head and stammered:
"No, Rui'er just feels bored. Mother, please come in and sit down."
Concubine Chen did not believe his words, but she did not ask any further questions.
She smiled and gestured to the maid behind her, who came forward with a tray.
"Mother is here to see Rui'er, and I'll bring you your favorite plum blossom cake."
When Jing Sirui saw the plum blossom cake, his eyes filled with tears.
He remembered his biological mother, who was just an ordinary palace maid of the emperor and died of illness not long after he was born.
During those years, he was neglected in the palace and spent several difficult years in the cold palace. Everything changed until Concubine Chen entered the palace.
Concubine Chen came from a prominent family, was well-educated, kind-hearted, never bossed others around, and was never competitive in the palace. Ever since he was recognized by the emperor as Chen Guifei's son, Chen Guifei has taken great care of him and treated him as her own son.
Over the years, under the careful care of Concubine Chen, he gradually felt the warmth of his elders.
Now, Concubine Chen is fortunate enough to be pregnant with a royal heir, and Jing Sirui is happy for his mother from the bottom of his heart.
Jing Sirui carefully helped Concubine Chen sit down and said:
"Mother, you are in poor health. Don't send cakes to Rui'er in the future. Rui'er is afraid that it will tire you out."
Concubine Chen touched Jing Sirui's head and said with a smile:
"Silly child, if you have any worries, you must tell your mother, don't keep it in your heart."
Jing Sirui nodded, picked up a piece of plum cake, took a light bite, and the soft, sweet taste spread in his mouth, but his heart was filled with mixed feelings.
I wonder if General Li has eaten the meal that was sent to him today? There is the pork elbow that I learned to make these days.
This is his favorite food, and it was also the dish that Li Xiao specially prepared for him in the General's Mansion when he sneaked out of the palace on his birthday last time. Eating food cooked by the person he loved and wearing a bracelet woven by the person he loved, that was the happiest birthday he had ever had.
But just yesterday, that person said it was unintentional. Jing Sirui could no longer hold back his tears and ate them along with the pastries.
Concubine Chen sighed and said to Jing Sirui meaningfully:
"My dear, take good care of yourself so that the one you love can rest assured."
Jing Sirui looked at Concubine Chen and asked tentatively, "Mother, do you know everything?"
Concubine Chen nodded: "Mother only found out on Rui'er's birthday."
Concubine Chen looked at Jing Sirui with a kind look and said in a low voice:
"Rui'er, you must keep calm at this time, don't be reckless, and don't cause trouble for your second brother again, understand?"
Jing Sirui nodded thoughtfully: "I understand, I will follow your instructions."
"Okay, mother is going back, Rui'er, be good."
"I respectfully send my mother off."
