Chapter 74 Zhu Wenqin Returns Home
As Zhu Wenqin listened to Jing Siye's words, the grievances that had been suppressed for a long time suddenly burst out like a flood.
"...Qin'er actually missed the prince a lot these days,"
Zhu Wenqin sobbed and spoke with a strong nasal tone.
"Every day I look forward to seeing the prince sooner, and I count the days with my fingers. Qin'er also learned to cook from her uncle and the third prince, and wanted to make some of the prince's favorite dishes by herself to give him a surprise."
At this point, his voice became more choked up, and after a long pause, he continued in a sobbing voice.
"But when I returned to the palace, I saw that the prince was taking a concubine. Qin'er's joy was suddenly dashed. I was so sad. I felt like my heart was broken..."
Upon hearing this, Jing Siye once again held Zhu Wenqin tightly in his arms, as if he wanted to rub him into his body.
"Qin'er is the best. It's my fault. I failed Qin'er."
Jing Siye's voice was low and hoarse, full of guilt that was about to overflow.
"Qin'er, if you give me a little more time, I will definitely handle everything and will never let you suffer any injustice again. When the time comes, I will let Qin'er stand by my side gloriously and become the happiest person in the world."
Zhu Wenqin hadn't eaten for a day and a night. Nangong Ling was afraid that Jing Siye would come after her, so after much thought, she decided to bring in lunch herself as an apology.
As soon as he entered the room, he saw Jing Siye wiping away Zhu Wenqin's tears with a handkerchief. Zhu Wenqin was still hiccuping, looking so pitiful.
Nangong Ling secretly complained: Jing Siye is usually so cold and arrogant, but he is actually a master at coaxing people. He coaxed his little guy so quickly.
"Is it not the right time for me to come? You guys should continue eating something to fill your stomach first."
Jing Siye didn't even raise his head, and said anxiously: "Hurry up and bring the lunch. Qin'er hasn't eaten for a long time. She doesn't even have the energy to cry."
Nangong Ling brought a bowl of bird's nest porridge and a few of Zhu Wenqin's favorite dishes and placed them on the table.
Jing Siye held Zhu Wenqin and sat next to the table. Zhu Wenqin was about to take the bowl of porridge, but as soon as he stretched out his hands, Jing Siye stopped him and took both of his hands in his arms.
Jing Siye brought the bowl of bird's nest porridge, scooped a spoonful and blew it at his lips, then brought it to Zhu Wenqin's mouth.
Zhu Wenqin raised her eyes to look at Jing Siye, her eyes were still slightly red from crying and there were traces of tears on her cheeks, but the corners of her mouth lifted slightly uncontrollably, and then she obediently opened her mouth and accepted the food.
Nangong Ling supported his chin with one hand, watching the scene with great interest, and couldn't help but make a "tsk tsk tsk" sound, with a playful expression on his face becoming more and more obvious.
"Oh, this is really touching! The dignified King Zhaonan actually personally fed the little guard porridge. If this gets out and those who write storybooks know about it, they will definitely make a hot story, and the storybook sellers will definitely make a lot of money!"
Jing Siye still didn't look up when he heard Nangong Ling's words. He continued with what he was doing and spoke in a calm tone:
"There's nothing for you to do here, go and do your thing."
Nangong Ling curled her lips and muttered:
"Okay, got it. You're going to destroy the bridge after crossing it, right? I won't bother you any more."
Just as he was about to reach the door, Jing Siye suddenly spoke:
"Wait a moment, help me prepare a carriage."
Nangong Ling paused and turned back helplessly:
"I know. I know."
When he was about to turn around, he heard Jing Siye calling him again:
"Nangong Ling."
He turned back impatiently, his face full of doubts:
"What's the matter?"
Jing Siye paused for a moment, shifted his gaze from Zhu Wenqin to Nangong Ling, with a serious expression and a sincere tone:
"Thank you very much."
As soon as these two words came out, the room suddenly became quiet.
Nangong Ling widened her eyes, the expression on her face changed from confusion to shock, her mouth opened wide, and it took her a long time to come back to her senses.
He looked at Jing Siye in disbelief: "What? What did you just say? Did I hear it correctly? King Zhaonan thanked me?"
As he spoke, he rubbed his ears vigorously, as if to confirm whether he was hallucinating.
His exaggerated reaction made Jing Siye glance at him again. He said nothing more and lowered his head to continue feeding Zhu Wenqin porridge.
"Ever since Guard Zhu entered the palace, you have repeatedly made me recognize you again."
Nangong Ling sighed: "I'm so envious..."
He said as he walked out.
——
After the carriage stopped at the gate of the palace, Jing Siye did not get off the carriage first. Instead, the scarlet curtain was slowly lifted by a slender and powerful hand, revealing Jing Siye's cold yet somewhat gentle face.
He looked at Xue Nian who was standing beside him and ordered in a low voice:
"Put the bench in place and raise the curtain."
Xue Nian responded quickly, and quickly placed the stool steadily next to the carriage, and then carefully lifted the curtain.
At the moment the car curtain was lifted, Xue Nian saw Zhu Wenqin quietly nestling in Jing Siye's arms, sleeping soundly. There was a hint of weariness on his little face.
Jing Siye gently moved his arms and carefully adjusted his hugging posture. Then, he straightened his back, took steady and powerful steps, and walked down the steps of the carriage step by step.
He stared at Zhu Wenqin in his arms, his eyes full of pity.
It was only a short distance of an incense stick from the cloth shop to the palace, but the little guy slept so soundly. I guess he must have been too sad last night and didn't sleep all night.
Thinking of this, Jing Siye leaned over slightly and placed a gentle kiss on Zhu Wenqin's smooth forehead, like a feather brushing past, full of endless tenderness and apology.
After the kiss, he hugged Zhu Wenqin tightly, quickened his pace, and walked straight towards the main courtyard.
Along the way, the servants of the palace all stepped aside and saluted respectfully, but they dared not make any sound, for fear of disturbing the person sleeping in King Zhaonan's arms.
Stepping into the bedroom, Jing Siye walked carefully to the bed, half squatted down, and gently placed Zhu Wenqin on the soft bedding.
Zhu Wenqin rubbed the pillow subconsciously, smelled a familiar scent, smacked her lips, turned over, and fell into deep sleep again.
Looking at the little guy's peaceful sleeping face, Jing Siye finally felt relieved. He breathed a sigh of relief and then walked towards the study.
