The bald chief designer's forehead was covered in sweat, which glistened under the incandescent lights of the interview room. Under Tang Song's deep gaze, he spoke cautiously.
"The previous nine interviewees couldn't even last ten minutes in the open-ended Q&A, but this one has already been going on for over half an hour..."
He swallowed hard, feeling the coolness of his beard. He instinctively raised his hand to touch it, glancing at the interviewers beside him for help.
The design director, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, trembled slightly as he met Zhu Hao's anxious gaze. He softly reminded her, "The interview is over. Go back and wait for our call."
Zhu Hao paused for a moment, then realized what was happening, quickly stood up, bowed slightly, and turned to leave, clutching her temporary work badge.
[That four-eyed guy has no tact! He actually chased away my little one!! I'm furious! I'm going to dock his pay!!]
Zhu Hao paused, her heart tightening, fearing that Tang Song would ask her to stay.
The CEO, who had remained silent throughout the interview, suddenly asked her, a mere interviewee, to stay on the job. Wasn't that a public demonstration that the CEO valued her performance highly?
Zhu Hao bit her lower lip, slowed her pace, and wanted to continue listening to Tang Song's innermost thoughts.
Reassuringly, although Tang Song kept complaining in his heart, he never took any actual action.
Zhu Hao breathed a sigh of relief, stepped out of the interview room, and the door slammed shut behind him.
*
Tea room.
Zhu Hao held the cup and took a small sip of hot water to ease the recent shock.
The sign language interpreter has left.
At the next table sat three people, two women and one man, waiting for their interview results.
Zhu Hao felt their burning gazes, tilted her head slightly, and looked at one of the girls sitting to the side.
Their eyes met, and the girl gave a slightly awkward twitch of her lips, looked away, and lowered her voice, "She looked over here, so she should know we're talking about her."
Zhu Hao paused, realizing that these three people had indeed been watching her the whole time.
However, they didn't know that the volume of their voices wasn't that important to her, because she could read lips.
The boy opposite the girl spoke up, "So what? I heard she's deaf and mute, she can't hear, don't worry."
How did you know?
“The girl who came with her is a sign language interpreter. My nephew is deaf and mute, and he takes sign language lessons from that interpreter.”
"Huh! Really? How can she even come for an interview?"
“Let’s go through the back door. Didn’t you notice that all the people we interviewed before her didn’t stay inside for more than ten minutes? She stayed in there for a full forty minutes. Who can withstand forty minutes of torture? She was probably chatting in there.”
Zhu Hao's eyes flickered slightly. He lowered his gaze to the back of the temporary work badge, took out the black tail hair that belonged to Tang Song, and carefully put it into his pocket.
Her worst fears came true during the interview.
She just wants to work like a normal person, why is that so difficult?
Zhu Hao, feeling dejected, clutched his work badge, stared at his phone screen, and pondered whether to explain to the three people next to him.
The girl who had just made eye contact with Zhu Hao continued gossiping with a complicated expression, "Yeah... but is it really necessary? Do you have to pull strings for an intern position?"
"Didn't I say? She's deaf and mute, so probably no company would want her. That's why she got in through connections."
"Isn't Meiyou known for her fairness and impartiality in the industry? Doesn't the entertainment industry's rules not apply to her?"
"Tch...you actually believe that?"
The girl sitting in the middle, facing Zhu Hao, who had been quiet the whole time, suddenly spoke up, her face full of doubt, "Then what are you waiting for here? According to you, the selection has already been made, there's no need to waste time here, why are you dragging us here to talk about experience?"
The man rolled his eyes and glanced at Zhu Hao disdainfully. "I just wanted to see..."
Click...
The door to the interview room opened, and the three people at the next table immediately stood up.
Following the gaze of the three of them, Zhu Hao caught sight of Zhu Qing standing at the door and stood up as well.
Zhu Qing walked out of the door with a list in his hand. He walked to the door of the tea room, glanced around, paused slightly on Zhu Hao, and then naturally moved away, as if he really didn't know her.
He cleared his throat. "Pu Zhao, best wishes."
"Here!" The girl who had just been facing Zhu Hao raised her hand, her voice filled with excitement.
Zhu Hao glanced back at the girl who had only asked the man one question the entire time, then quickly looked away.
"You two have passed the interview. Come with me to fill out the job application form." Zhu Qing put away the thin piece of paper in her hand and pointed towards the stairs on the second floor.
Zhu Hao's eyes widened in surprise, her still-chubby face filled with astonishment.
He completely forgot what the three people had just said, and all that remained in his mind was the words "I passed the interview".
She really did it!
She passed her first full interview!
All those interview tips and experience posts on that table were totally worth it!
"Okay!" Pu Zhao tried his best to keep his excitement in check, but the corners of his mouth couldn't help but turn up.
Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a gloomy, jealous look on the man beside her. She casually scoffed, "Looks like that girl didn't get in through connections, since I got in too."
The man glared at her fiercely, his fawning expression vanishing instantly. He snorted heavily, kicked a chair, and turned to leave.
Zhu Qing frowned slightly and glanced at the man. "Those who didn't pass can leave."
The man was no longer in sight. Another girl standing next to Pu Zhao asked timidly, "Wasn't it supposed to be two rounds of interviews? How come they signed the contract right after the first round? Wasn't there a second round?"
Pu Zhao paused, then looked hesitantly at Zhu Qing.
Zhu Hao nodded slightly, stared at Zhu Qing with wide eyes, and tilted her head slightly.
She felt a little uneasy. Could it be that Tang Song had canceled the second round of interviews so that she could get into Meiyou?
Zhu straightened his shirt and explained softly, "The interviewers from the second round were also here. The second round of interviews was conducted at the same time as the first round, and the result now is the final result."
The girl lowered her eyes, her face ashen, her lips pressed tightly together, and remained silent.
Zhu Hao blinked slowly before realizing why there were so many professional questions in the first round of interviews—it turned out the two rounds of interviews had been combined.
She puffed out her cheeks, reached into her pocket and pinched the hair in her pocket, her eyes softening.
Pu Zhao's expression relaxed, feeling a sense of relief as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
She quickly stepped forward, passing by Zhu Hao, and stood in front of Zhu Qing, quietly lowering her eyes to wait.
"I'm sorry, you didn't pass the second round of interviews." Zhu Qingchao nodded slightly to the girl at the table. "Pu Zhaohua, please come with me."
As soon as she finished speaking, Zhu Qing turned and left with a serious expression, but out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Zhu Hao's feet and silently kicked away a box that was blocking her way.
Pu Zhao caught Zhu Qing's action out of the corner of his eye, and his narrow eyes widened instantly, as if he had seen something incredible!
This girl named Zhu Hao actually has a connection with the president's special assistant!
