Chapter 28: More Communication is Needed

Tang Song's inner thoughts gradually faded away, and Zhu Hao breathed a sigh of relief, slowing her pace as she went upstairs.

My phone vibrated twice.

Zhu Hao took out his phone and glanced at it; it was Geng Ying.

Geng Ying: [Have you gone back yet?]

Zhu Hao's lips twitched; it seemed Geng Ying really had a lot of opinions about Tang Song.

She replied as she went upstairs.

Best wishes: [Back in the dorm now, don't worry (?????)]

Geng Ying: [Okay.]

Geng Ying: [Location sharing is now disabled]

Back in the dorm, my other three roommates were there.

As soon as I opened the door, I was met with strange looks from them all at once.

Zhu Hao paused, gripped the backpack strap tightly, lowered her head slightly, and used her hair to cover her face.

He skillfully placed his schoolbag on the outermost desk and closed the door behind him.

He pulled out his toiletries from under the small desk and walked towards the bathroom.

As she passed the other three people, she had to step over a series of messy boxes.

Every box was full, clothes were spilling out, some hanging on the ground.

The three of them had so much stuff that it not only blocked the road but also filled up the open space around her.

However, she didn't care much, since she didn't have many things and didn't need much space anyway.

*

10 PM.

When Zhu Hao came out of the bathroom, the three people who had been chatting animatedly immediately fell silent.

Zhu Hao pursed her lips, dried her hair, and walked towards her desk.

Knowing that Zhu Hao was deaf, they spoke loudly without restraint.

Zhu Hao tried his best not to look at their lips, but the dormitory space was so small that no matter how much he avoided it, he could still catch a glimpse of them out of the corner of his eye.

She saw one of them opening and closing his lips, each time uttering the word "man".

For some reason, Zhu Hao stopped what she was doing and looked at them.

They didn't realize that Zhu Hao was watching them.

“I’m telling the truth! I really saw her get into a black Rolls-Royce! And I came back earlier than her tonight, didn’t I? When I went upstairs, I saw her standing downstairs with a man in a suit. The man didn’t look like a student, he looked like he was working. He must be the one who drives the Rolls-Royce.”

"Could it be her boyfriend?"

"How could that be? She has a boyfriend and he doesn't take her out to live with him? He drives a Rolls-Royce! He could easily settle her down by just spending a little money."

"It's not appropriate to make assumptions, after all, she is disabled."

"I didn't guess anything, I was just stating the facts."

"If that man is her boyfriend, he should consider her feelings and offer her a place to stay so that it's convenient for everyone. Doesn't he know that her situation is special?"

"Yes, yes, it's really awkward living with her. I don't know if she's doing it on purpose. I've wanted to tell her countless times, 'Can you not get up so early in the morning? It's so noisy!' The sound of her washing up is so loud, I feel like I could flip the sink over. But when I think about how she's deaf and mute, I don't feel comfortable saying it. After all, she probably doesn't even know how loud she is."

"Yes, yes, me too! I always feel like I'm bullying her if I say it, but which college student gets up at six every morning, whether they're in class or resting?! It's really too torturous, and she can't hear me. Her phone alarm is on vibrate, and it feels like my bed is vibrating along with her phone. I'm about to have a nervous breakdown!"

"That's alright, isn't it? Doesn't she always wake up as soon as the alarm vibrates and then turn it off? Less than two seconds, right?"

"But I've already been woken up! And you know about the vibration! Weren't you woken up too!?"

"...No, I didn't sleep."

"..."

As soon as she finished speaking, the chestnut-haired girl who had just complained about being woken up looked up and met Zhu Hao's clear eyes, her throat tightening.

She forced a stiff smile, managing to pull at the corners of her mouth.

It's really embarrassing to say bad things about others in front of them and then get caught.

The two of them simultaneously looked away, as if on cue.

The dormitory quieted down, and the three people who had been gathered together just moments before dispersed back to their seats.

I wish you well as you carefully navigated over piles of boxes and squeezed yourself into that cramped space.

It was a bit cramped, so she pushed the chair back, but a resistance blocked her way.

Zhu Hao glanced back and saw that there was another box on the ground.

She was surrounded by boxes, none of which were hers; they all belonged to the other three people.

She didn't know why other people had so many things.

Other dorm rooms also have four people, and in the same space, they don't pile up so much stuff like this.

Sometimes, she even felt that their dormitory was like a garbage dump, but without the stench.

Zhu Hao rummaged through the bag of clothes she had brought back. Inside were not only the clothes she had changed out of at the restaurant, but also the drawing board that Tang Song had used to draw on the car to comfort her.

She pulled out the drawing board, and slightly raised the demagnetizing lever on the magnetic drawing board. The lines on the drawing board would disappear, and the tips of the little wolf's ears would faintly disappear by half.

She raised her fingertip and gently tapped the wolf cub's ear, stroking it from head to tail in the direction of its fur growth.

Then he took out the tail hairs of Tang Song that he had collected today from the bag and counted them one by one.

One, two, three.

Her fair fingertips carefully twirled three hairs and placed them into a small box.

She counted the hairs in the box; there were sixteen, which together made up only a small tuft.

Click.

She closed the box and suddenly stood up as if she had made up her mind.

Looking back.

The three people sitting at their desks were all wearing headphones and typing furiously on their phone screens.

The three of them had an unprecedentedly unified expression—serious, yet simultaneously bursting into laughter.

I pursed my lips, picked up my phone, and typed.

He glanced at the words on the drawing board out of the corner of his eye.

[You can talk to Little Wolf about things that make you unhappy—emotions can affect your physical health.]

Zhu Hao carefully pushed the drawing board into the table, then took his phone and walked up to the chestnut-haired girl.

The chestnut-haired girl's smile froze, and she quickly turned her phone face down to her chest, staring at her in surprise.

Zhu Hao tapped her phone. "I'm sorry, I didn't know I was disturbing your rest. I will move out. However, you have a lot of things that are taking up my space and affecting my normal life. Also, it's wrong of you to make malicious speculations about my private life. Whether that man is my boyfriend or not is none of your business. Please apologize to me."

She gets up so early every day to work part-time to earn her living expenses; the dormitory is just a place for her to sleep.

But they were right. She couldn't hear, so she naturally didn't know how loud she was making. What she thought was being quiet might have sounded like firecrackers to normal ears.

But they shouldn't make malicious speculations about her relationship with Tang Song.

Moreover, Tang Song was right; the dormitory was too crowded, and you would bump into someone if you turned around.

She wants to move out.

The chestnut-haired girl glanced at the screen, her eyes widening in surprise. She lifted her eyelids, looked her up and down, her face flushing red. She stammered, "I...I'm sorry."

After seeing the movement of her lips, Zhu Hao picked up his phone and walked towards the other two girls.

Before leaving, she caught a glimpse of the chestnut-haired girl picking up her phone and frantically typing in a group chat.

On the chat interface, besides this girl, there are two other profile pictures, which belong to the other two girls in the dormitory.

I wish you well, lower my eyes, purse my lips, and grip my phone tightly.

That was a dorm group chat without her. Take a deep breath and be thankful you weren't in the group.

Zhu Hao showed that message to the other two girls, and they both looked very strange, but they stammered and apologized.

Only the one who often stays up all night said, "It doesn't have to be a matter of moving out, does it? It's just a small thing."

Zhu Hao lowered his eyes and said nothing more.

She finally understood why the atmosphere in the dormitory was becoming increasingly strange.

When school first started, everyone got along well, but two months later, the atmosphere in the dormitory became strange. She felt like she was being ostracized for no reason, but she didn't know why.

If she is mute, then the other three people are completely mute.

Zhu Hao, holding her drawing board, lay flat on the bed and secretly decided that she should communicate more with Tang Song in the future.

The words "heat" suddenly popped into my mind.

A blush crept onto her fair face.

It seems... she and Tang Song are communicating a bit too much.
