Chapter 124 Can't Come Every Day

Chapter 124 Can't Come Every Day

Upon hearing this, Huo Lin's tightly furrowed brows relaxed slightly. He walked back to Jiang Huan, his gaze focused and deep.

[A talent show? So that's what she was jealous of.]

"That was nothing more than a petition made by a few ministers on their own wishful thinking."

He paused, his tone becoming even colder, "I have never agreed, and I will never agree."

[In my harem, she alone is enough.]

Those vulgar beauties buzz around like flies every day; I wish I could sweep them all out of the Forbidden City with a broom.

These words were spoken with absolute certainty, leaving no room for negotiation.

He leaned down, placed his hands on the armrests of the wheelchair, and trapped Jiang Huan in the narrow space between himself and the wheelchair.

The ambergris, mixed with the faint spicy scent from before, forcefully invaded Jiang Huan's senses.

Huo Lin's voice was deep and had a captivating magnetism, "From now on, ignore whatever others say."

Just listen to what I say.

He was so close that Jiang Huan could clearly see her reflection in his eyes.

That intense presence made it difficult for Jiang Huan to breathe, and her mind went completely blank.

As the two drew closer, Jiang Huan couldn't help but close her eyes.

Just as their lips were about to touch...

"Your Majesty, the Minister of War and the Minister of Revenue have been waiting in the side hall for some time. They have urgent matters to report immediately." Wang Degui's voice rang out untimely outside the Imperial Study.

As if doused with cold water, Huo Lin's movements abruptly stopped.

It was only a finger's width away from Jiang Huan's lips.

He maintained his bent-over posture, closed his eyes briefly, and when he opened them again, his eyes were filled with suppressed irritation.

These two just couldn't have come earlier or later.

Jiang Huan also snapped out of her daze after this sudden turn of events, abruptly opening her eyes, her heart still pounding wildly.

"I..." Huo Lin began, his voice somewhat hoarse, "have important matters to attend to."

Jiang Huan nodded quickly and gently nudged him.

"I understand, Your Majesty, please go quickly."

Looking at her still flushed cheeks, Huo Lin felt that resentment resurface.

[Upon hearing that I was no longer holding a talent show, they suddenly became so magnanimous.]

No, I'm jealous too.

He leaned down and quickly planted a light kiss on her smooth forehead.

[Let's collect some interest first.]

The kiss was as quick as a dragonfly skimming the water, yet it carried a scalding heat, causing Jiang Huan's cheeks, which had just cooled down, to burn again.

"Dinner..."

Huo Lin straightened up and spoke casually, but his eyes glanced at Jiang Huan with a hint of expectation.

"I'd like something light."

[Please, never again order the Flaming Mountain Set Meal! I never want to see chili peppers again in my life.]

But she should be calmed down by now, right? Since she's calmed down, then tonight...

Jiang Huan almost wanted to turn on the mute button.

The Emperor's chaotic thoughts are dangerous.

“Alright,” Jiang Huan tried to keep her voice calm, “I will make something light and delicious for Your Majesty tonight.”

She specifically emphasized that it should be refreshing and delicious, hoping that Huo Lin would understand the spirit and be more refreshing in the evening as well.

Huo Lin clearly didn't understand. A smile appeared on his lips, and the gloom that had just been interrupted seemed to have dissipated considerably.

She agreed!

[After dealing with these annoying guys tonight, I need to get back quickly.]

Thinking about the evening, Huo Lin's thoughts inevitably began to wander off course again.

She seemed tired last night; I'll be gentler with her tonight.

"Your Majesty, the ministers are still waiting for you!"

Unable to find the mute button, Jiang Huan could only press the pause button, and without thinking, she quickly urged them on.

Then he raised his hand to signal Xiao Zhao to come over, and quickly pushed her away.

Huo Lin watched her fleeing figure, a smile flashing in his eyes.

Only after Jiang Huan's figure disappeared did he turn around and walk towards the imperial desk.

"Let them come over."

"Yes," Wang Degui replied quickly.

This process took all afternoon, and Huo Lin didn't go to Weiyang Palace for dinner until evening.

The small table was filled with exquisite dishes, all of which were refreshing and appetizing seasonal side dishes, and the soups were also light and delicious.

After the meal, the palace servants quietly cleaned up, leaving only the two of them in the hall.

The candlelight flickered, and the atmosphere unconsciously became somewhat ambiguous again.

Huo Lin walked over to Jiang Huan's soft couch and sat down, naturally reaching out to massage her sore waist.

The warm, large hand carried a soothing power, making Jiang Huan close her eyes comfortably.

"Is it still sour?" he asked in a low voice.

"Hmm... much better," Jiang Huan mumbled, like a lazy cat.

However, this warm atmosphere did not last long.

As Huo Lin massaged her, the pressure and location changed. His fingertips began to linger on her sensitive side, and his breathing gradually became hot.

Jiang Huan's body tensed instantly, and she was wide awake.

She suddenly grabbed his restless hand, looked up, and met his deep, soulful eyes that seemed to draw her in.

She was all too familiar with the leaping flames inside.

"Your Majesty," Jiang Huan said, on the verge of tears, "my back is still aching."

Huo Lin paused, looking into her watery eyes, his heart softened, but the fire in his body burned even brighter.

He leaned down and whispered in her ear, his breath hot.

"I'll be gentle, I promise I won't tire you out."

Jiang Huan's face flushed red again; this guarantee sounded utterly unconvincing.

She recalled his outbursts of control last night, and how she felt completely exhausted this morning...

"No, no!" Jiang Huan shook her head vigorously.

Her voice was coquettish and pleading: "Your Majesty, please spare me! This can't happen every day!"

My small frame can't possibly withstand it.

As she spoke, she rubbed her waist, her little face scrunched up, looking aggrieved and pitiful.

Looking at the person in front of him and listening to her accusations, Huo Lin felt as if his heart had been gently tickled by a feather, both itchy and helpless.

[Ahem, it seems I am indeed a bit too hasty.]

He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, trying to suppress the surging desire.

"You heartless little brat."

He sighed softly and finally released Jiang Huan, but his arms still held her waist possessively, keeping her tightly in his embrace.

"Then we'll sleep together tonight, okay?"

Jiang Huan leaned against Huo Lin's firm, warm chest, feeling his suppressed desire and clumsy compromise, and quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

"Mmm," she responded softly, snuggling closer to him and finding a comfortable position.

The candlelight crackled softly, illuminating the two people embracing.
