Chapter 109 Spreading Rumors is Shameful

They all woke up just as dawn was breaking.

Chen Siyu, who had only slept for two or three hours, yawned incessantly, her eyes half-open and half-closed. "How come I sleep later than a dog and get up earlier than a chicken every day? This is earlier than 8 a.m. I'm going to die."

Cheng Zhi peered out the window. The rain hadn't let up, and there was no one on the street. She pulled back and said, "If we don't leave now, it'll be harder to leave once everyone wakes up."

Qi Yanche looked at the twin brothers, who were leaning against the wall in a daze, and asked, "What should we do with these two?"

In the middle of the night, they woke up and were shocked again, many times over. Finally, when the rag was removed, neither of them could utter a word; they were probably too frightened to speak.

Xiao Feiran glanced at him and said, "Tie him up and stuff him under the bed. This kind of person is no longer a threat. Let him live his life as a fool."

After they tidied themselves up, Cheng Zhi and Qi Yanche went to take another look at the old woman. As soon as they entered, they smelled a stench of excrement and urine, mixed with a hint of blood.

Cheng Zhi stood at the door, unwilling to go in. Qi Yanche went in and squatted down in front of the old woman. He checked her breathing and found that she was indeed not breathing. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that her face had turned purple.

Cheng Zhi covered her mouth and nose with one hand, and with the other hand, she tugged at Qi Yanche from behind, saying, "Let's go, this old woman has probably been dead for a while."

Qi Yanche nodded, stood up and said, "He is indeed dead, but we don't know if he died of anger, illness, or accident."

Cheng Zhi waved her hand dismissively. It was gone anyway, and she wasn't interested in how it was gone.

"They went to gather supplies, but I doubt there will be much. We can probably head over now." With that, Cheng Zhi walked towards the kitchen.

Just as Cheng Zhi had predicted, there was nothing to eat in this house.

There was barely any rice left in the rice container; it filled just a small plastic bag. There were only two packs of noodles and a bag of rock sugar.

As for vegetables and fruits, there were none at all.

However, I received a piece of smoked bacon. It didn't look moldy or spoiled, and it only smelled smoky, so it shouldn't be bad and is edible.

The kitchen was completely exposed, and the search was quickly completed. As everyone was about to leave, Cheng Zhi glanced at them and noticed that Xiao Feiran and Huang Yiyi were not there.

The two of them ransacked the other rooms, even searching under the beds, and still managed to find something.

They found the books the brothers used when they were in school in their room. Although they were just some elementary school textbooks, it was better than nothing.

The three brothers' books are all well-preserved and neatly arranged.

Xiao Feiran opened the book, looked at the childish yet neat name on the title page, and couldn't help but sigh.

Closing the book meant throwing everything into the space.

Let's go.

The group of people, dressed neatly, walked to the door and suddenly stopped.

Chen Siyu, who was behind, suddenly braked. Just as she was about to ask what was going on, she saw that behind the dilapidated wooden door, there were countless umbrellas.

They were also holding umbrellas, which probably meant they had already been seen by the person behind the door. A voice came from the doorway, "Village chief, it's true, I heard it clearly! There were screams at Old Xu's house last night! They must have been in trouble! Those outsiders, it must have been those outsiders who did it!"

Another female voice chimed in, "Yes! I can testify too, I saw it all, the blood was splattered all over the window!"

Cheng Zhi, inside the door, rolled her eyes to the sky. What the hell were these people spouting?!
