Looking at the thick fog in front of them, everyone finally understood what Cheng Zhi and the others had been doing the past two days.
Cheng's mother had already drawn the curtains open and was peering through them, but she couldn't see anything on the street.
Cheng Ye, sitting at the table munching on dried sweet potato, looked out the window at the view. "So, you sealed up all these gaps just to prevent this fog?"
Cheng Zhi nodded. "If rainwater is poisonous, I figured other things must be too."
"So how did you know there would be heavy fog ahead?" Even after so many days, Cheng Ye still hadn't given up and kept asking.
Cheng Zhi gave Cheng Ye a fake smile, "I've already told you, I'm the incarnation of God, I have the script, I know everything, why don't you believe me?"
Again with these nonsensical remarks, Cheng Ye held up the half-eaten sweet potato chip, "Then you're really bad. As God with the script in your hand, you still spread disasters to the world and even put my whole family in danger. You're not a good person!"
Seeing that the two siblings were about to start arguing again, Xiao Feiran immediately stepped between them, cutting off the sparks that were flashing in their eyes.
"Oh dear, this whole thing was told to us by an uncle from the meteorological bureau on the way back. He's a professional, so we really believed him." Xiao Feiran, the storyteller, was at it again, making up a completely random uncle.
Cheng Ye didn't immediately believe him. He stared into Xiao Feiran's eyes and asked, "This doesn't make sense. If there really is an uncle, why won't Cheng Zhi say anything, and instead ramble on about a bunch of irrelevant things?"
"That's easy!" Xiao Feiran glanced back at Cheng Zhi, then immediately turned back. "It's all to show off in front of you, and to tease you a bit. Isn't that what your sister enjoys?"
"!"
Cheng Ye's eyes widened immediately, and she almost dropped the sweet potato chips. "That makes perfect sense! Wow! Cheng Zhi, you really have such a twisted sense of humor. You get pleasure from seeing me so anxious, don't you? The most poisonous heart is that of a woman!"
Cheng Zhi, who hadn't done anything wrong but was unfairly blamed, was speechless. "Wait, is there no one to stand up for justice?! I didn't do anything, and this huge burden just fell from the sky!"
She wanted to sit up and argue, but Xiao Feiran held her down tightly, winking at her frantically to keep her quiet.
Finally, Cheng Ye finished the last bite of dried sweet potato and went back to her room in a huff.
Only after hearing the door close did Xiao Feiran release her hand.
Cheng Zhi immediately scrambled to her feet and berated Xiao Feiran, "Fine, you're siding with him instead of me!"
Xiao Feiran got up and sat a little further away from Cheng Zhi, silently covering her ears. "Heaven and earth bear witness, I have no bias whatsoever. I just don't want to hear you arguing in my ear. These past few days, I feel like I'm going deaf. How have you two endured this for twenty years? You've worked so hard."
Sitting in a recliner, Cheng's mother smiled slightly, "It's alright. After all, they are all my most beloved children, so it wasn't too tiring."
These words brought tears to Cheng Zhi's eyes. She was about to rush over and act coquettishly when Xiao Feiran continued, "You obviously didn't understand what Auntie said?"
Cheng Zhi was completely confused. "?"
Xiao Feiran put down his hand and began to translate, "Let me translate this for you. Auntie means, 'There's nothing I can do. After all, she's my own child. Losing her would be illegal. It's not hard work, but my life is miserable.' Translation complete, over!"
When Cheng's mother heard this, she didn't refute it, but instead laughed out loud.
Cheng Zhi: "..." You know how to translate, thank you so much.
