The next morning, Cheng Zhi brought a withered potted plant from the living room; it was part of their experiment.
Inside the room, Xiao Feiran was already making preparations, holding a small shovel and dividing the soil he had dug out of the space into two portions, one with more soil and one with less.
Seeing the potted plant in Cheng Zhi's hand, Xiao Feiran wasn't particularly happy. Everything was there, but after a night of thought, she suddenly felt that the probability of this experiment succeeding was very low.
The essential conditions for plant growth are now extremely difficult to meet: extremely cold temperatures, toxic air and water, and sunlight obscured by thick fog. Humans can barely survive in such conditions, let alone plants.
"Let's give it a try, what if it works? We're just killing time anyway. If it really grows, my dad has so many potted plants, especially the two big ones downstairs, we could grow a lot of things." Cheng Zhi was an optimist, and just thinking about it made her excited.
As they spoke, they began their actions. They planned to divide the soil into two types: one was entirely spatial soil, and the other was soil that was a mixture of spatial and external elements.
Loosen the soil, mix it well, and finally scatter the seeds and water them. All of this is done with the heater on.
If you don't open it and pour water on it, it will freeze completely.
All of this happened very quickly. After Cheng Zhi and Xiao Feiran finished doing all this, they squatted down to watch. Because if the flow rate was about ten times that of the land, they should be able to see the scallion grow very soon.
But it wasn't that fast. The two of them got tired of squatting and got up to go out for breakfast.
Despite saying she had no hope, Xiao Feiran was actually quite excited. While eating her bread, she kept staring blankly at the door.
Because they got up so early, everyone else was still asleep, and it was just the two of them in the living room. Cheng Zhi said with a smile, "Master Xiao, you're still very nervous."
Xiao Feiran nodded honestly, "Isn't that obvious? If it really grew outside of this space, we wouldn't have to be scrutinized by our uncles and aunts every day."
Cheng Zhi didn't seem to care about her parents' scrutiny. She shrugged indifferently, "So what if I get a killer look from my parents every day? They're our parents, they're not going to sell us off."
Xiao Feiran knew this, of course, but she just couldn't bear those looks. "People have different levels of tolerance. You can bear it, but I can't. Every time they look at me like that, I feel guilty. They've been so good to me, how could I lie to them?"
Cheng Zhi patted her shoulder, "It was a kind gesture, you don't need to do that."
After a while, Cheng Zhi seemed to suddenly have a breakthrough. She abruptly turned to Xiao Feiran, "Wait a minute, sis! Didn't you just call me heartless?! Hey! You did! Don't go! Explain yourself!"
Xiao Feiran: "..." This focus is a bit too tricky!
The two of them stayed in the living room all day without going inside, and even took their midday nap in the living room.
Around 6 p.m., the two of them stood at the door with trepidation. Cheng Zhi put her hand on the doorknob, hesitating to open it.
Seeing them like this, Cheng Ye walked over and examined the door more closely. "What's wrong with you two? Why is it so hard for you to open a door? Or are you keeping a monster in your bedroom? Does it pounce out and bite you as soon as you open it?"
Cheng Zhi's excitement was abruptly interrupted by Cheng Ye. She glared at Cheng Ye and said through gritted teeth, "If I really kept a monster, the first thing I'd make it bite you! Get lost!"
Cheng Ye made a face at his sister, completely ignoring her pleas, "No way! You think I'll just leave just because you tell me to? No way! Ah!!!"
The next second, Cheng Zhi delivered a side kick, sending Cheng Ye flying. Cheng Ye screamed and clutched her waist, feeling as if her bones were about to break.
Fueled by anger, Cheng Zhi pushed open the door and went inside.
Xiao Feiran looked at Cheng Ye, who was still lying on the ground looking miserable, and shook his head helplessly. "Sometimes you can't completely blame your sister for having a fiery temper, right, Cheng Ye?"
After saying that, Xiao Feiran patted his head and went inside, locking the door behind him.
After a brief silence, Cheng Ye, clutching her lower back, said tremblingly, "...No matter what, I've already been kicked, and none of you are on my side, sob sob~"
