Huang Yiyi was furious with Chen Yiyi, but he was oblivious to it. Huang Yiyi rolled her eyes at him several times, then shook him off and left.
Seeing that Huang Yiyi was heading out of the stadium, Chen Yiyi was afraid that she would get lost, so she greeted Qi Yanche and immediately followed her.
Cheng Zhi got tired of squatting for a long time, so she simply sat down on the ground.
She patted the empty space next to her and said to Qi Yanche, "Why don't you sit down for a while? Standing is tiring."
Upon hearing Cheng Zhi's words, Qi Yanche immediately sat down. He glanced at the tent, then at Cheng Zhi's exhausted face, and asked, "What's the situation with that child?"
Cheng Zhi, who was staring blankly at the sky, shook her head. "We don't know either. Only Zhiyu knows about this child, but Zhiyu seems to have been frightened. She cried a lot the whole way and we couldn't get anything out of her."
Qi Yanche nodded, which was exactly what she expected. He then comforted her, saying, "Don't worry too much. The doctors are working on her. Once Zhiyu recovers in a couple of days, things will become clear."
It takes more than two days for such a young child to recover from such a fright. Cheng Zhi was worried that her younger sister might develop psychological trauma.
She sighed, turned her gaze away from the bright moon, looked at the tent, and said, "Let's take it slow."
Suddenly, Cheng Zhi remembered that they still had to go home. She turned to Qi Yanche and said, "We can't stay in Yudu for too long. Our families are waiting for us. Chen Siyu and her family aren't doing well right now, and Zheng Wan is exhausted. Could you please come and visit us when you have some free time these next few days? We don't need to do any work, just look after us..."
Before Cheng Zhi could finish speaking, Qi Yanche immediately agreed.
He stared intently into Cheng Zhi's eyes and said, "You've helped us before, and we haven't repaid you yet. If you need any help in the future, just let us know, and we'll do our best to help."
Qi Yanche's firm and serious gaze left Cheng Zhi somewhat at a loss. The two of them just stared at each other without saying anything further.
Coming to her senses, Cheng Zhi laughed twice to cover her embarrassment, then reached out and patted Qi Yanche's shoulder, "Hahaha, we're all from the same school, why be so polite? Hahaha, so you agree, thank you!"
In her panic, Cheng Zhi lost her grip and nearly knocked the unprepared Qi Yanche to the ground with a slap.
Qi Yanche: "..." How come your grip strength has increased so much since I last saw you?! Did you secretly go weightlifting?
He felt half of his body was almost numb. He steadied himself to avoid falling. It would have been incredibly embarrassing if he had fallen.
Fortunately, Cheng Zhi was too preoccupied with her own embarrassment to notice anything unusual about Qi Yanche.
After turning the page, Qi Yanche asked again, "I heard from Zheng Wan that you moved to Yangzhou?"
Cheng Zhi nodded, "Yes, I couldn't stay in Pengcheng anymore, so I went to Yangzhou. Yiyi is all alone in Yangzhou, and she's lonely, so I decided to move there to keep her company."
The two were about to say something when a nurse came out of the tent.
Cheng Zhi rushed forward, her movements so fast that her clothes fell off.
Qi Yanche quickly grabbed his clothes and followed, then draped them over Cheng Zhi's shoulders.
When the nurse saw them, she assumed they were the child's parents and immediately started lecturing them.
“How could you be such parents? Your baby isn’t even a month old, how could you take him around and feed him dirty water? Now he’s got pneumonia. You’d better be prepared. He’ll be here for observation and treatment for the next few days and won’t be allowed to go out. You should go back now. You’ll only be allowed to visit him when his condition improves.”
Cheng Zhi tried to explain several times, but she didn't get a chance before the nurse finished speaking and walked away.
She had already gone inside, but suddenly remembered that she hadn't registered yet, so she turned back. "Leave your personal information, otherwise you won't be able to visit in the future, and you won't be able to take the baby away after it recovers. Baby's name, parents' names, tent number?"
The nurse was holding a notebook, waiting to record their information, while Cheng Zhi and Qi Yanche stood on the other side, bewildered.
How did they suddenly become parents?!
This child isn't theirs at all, how would they know the child's name!
Seeing that they didn't speak, the nurse urged them again, "Can you two hurry up? I still have patients to take care of."
The nurse looked at her, and Qi Yanche looked at her too. Cheng Zhi almost bit her lip until it bled, and shouted, "Cheng Shanyue, the baby's name is Cheng Shanyue, Cheng from Cheng-Zhu Neo-Confucianism, Shan from mountains and rivers, and Yue from the moon."
The nurse remembered and asked them their names.
Cheng Zhi was numb and said emotionlessly, "My name is Cheng Zhi, Zhi as in gardenia. His name is Qi Yanche, Qi as in sharing joys and sorrows, Yan as in words, and Che as in clear. What tent number?"
Qi Yanche was called upon and immediately said number 8.
As the nurse took notes, she remarked, "Taking the mother's surname...that's good."
After finishing her notes, she closed the pen and was about to leave, but seeing Cheng Zhi's exhaustion, she added, "You can't overwork yourself during your postpartum period; you need to rest. How can you, as her husband, let her go out and work? It's late at night and the dew is heavy. Hurry up and take your wife home to rest."
Qi Yanche, who had been inexplicably scolded, said, "...No, hey, we..."
However, that's really not the case!
Qi Yanche stammered as he spoke, but the nurse had already vanished.
Who would have thought that Qi Yanche would be dragged into this and scolded? Cheng Zhi covered her face in pain, sighed, and immediately put her hands together, frantically apologizing to Qi Yanche beside her.
“I’m sorry! She started talking non-stop and I couldn’t get a word in edgewise. She also said that I couldn’t visit without registering, so I didn’t want to go through the motions with her again. I’m really sorry. Once he’s better and my sister has explained his background, I will definitely clear your name.”
