Chapter 190 I Care About You

After coaxing Zhiyu to sleep, Cheng Zhi came out of the tent.

Qi Yanche and Chen Yiyi, fearing they might still have something to do, didn't leave and are currently squatting at the door eating beef jerky.

Seeing Cheng Zhi come out, Qi Yanche immediately stood up and handed her the dolphin doll he was holding. "I heard that my little sister washed her doll and she's been unhappy about it. We happened to see some new ones when we went out today, so we picked one up."

Chen Yiyi also took out the bag of beef jerky in her hand, "I don't know if my little sister would like to eat this, why don't you give it a try? Just in case."

Cheng Zhi took all the things, lifted the tent flap and temporarily put them inside. She gestured to the two of them to move away, as she had something to say.

The three of them moved a little to the side to make sure that their conversation wouldn't wake Zhiyu and the others.

Seeing Cheng Zhi acting so mysteriously, Chen Yiyi quickly asked, "What's wrong?"

They had expected Cheng Zhi to talk about something related to her younger sister, but to their surprise, Cheng Zhi immediately asked them something completely unrelated.

"What were your feelings when you first saw a body, or rather... when you first saw a murder scene?"

The question came out of nowhere, and the two of them thought about it for a while.

Qi Yanche slowly said, "First, I couldn't believe it and was extremely scared. After a while, I came to my senses and felt nauseous and wanted to vomit. I think that's all."

Chen Yiyi nodded in agreement, "I felt the same way as Yan Ge. It was my first time seeing it, and I felt really nauseous. I couldn't even think about it. For the next few days, I couldn't eat whenever I thought about it."

Cheng Zhi looked at the tent not far away and didn't say anything more. After two seconds, the two of them finally understood.

Chen Yiyi suddenly realized, "Little sister, did you see something scary those two days? Is that why you don't want to eat?"

Cheng Zhi nodded. "I think it's very likely. Otherwise, how could she not eat a single grain of rice after being hungry for so many days?"

Turning her gaze back to the two of them, Cheng Zhi said, "Besides that, I have another guess. She was terrified as soon as she heard your voices, and Uncle also said that my little sister hasn't spoken to him all day, not even glancing at him. So I think..."

Cheng Zhi didn't say anything more, and the two boys opposite her probably understood what she meant.

Qi Yanche patted Cheng Zhi's shoulder reassuringly, "Didn't the doctor check her yesterday? Apart from some mosquito bites and abrasions, my little sister doesn't have any other wounds on her body. She shouldn't have any... she shouldn't have any."

Chen Yi, standing to the side, clenched his fists. Although he was very angry, he didn't make any further moves. "The base's psychologist will come to give Xiaomei psychological counseling tomorrow."

Cheng Zhi became increasingly frightened as she thought about it, and she took several deep breaths to calm herself down.

Judging from their dirty clothes, they looked like they had just gotten off work.

"It's getting late, you should go and rest. I'll keep watch here," Cheng Zhi said. "I don't dare see you right now, and you won't be able to get in even if you come."

That's true. In the current situation, all they can do is offer some help outside; they really can't do things like soothing the children.

After they returned, Cheng Zhi went back to her tent.

The uncle and aunt were already asleep on another small bed, and Zheng Wan and Chen Siyu sat on the edge of the bed watching over Zhiyu.

Cheng Zhi pulled a small stool from under the bed and sat down as well.

Hearing the noise, Zheng Wan turned her head and whispered, "I just made some sweet potato soup. Remember to drink it when you get back."

When it was time for Cheng Zhi to go back, she and Zheng Wan had just stepped out of the tent when they ran into Qi Yanche, who was walking towards them.

Zheng Wan glanced at the two of them, not wanting to be a third wheel, and yawned as she left, saying, "I'm sleepy, I'll go first, you two keep chatting."

Qi Yanche walked over and placed the thermos in Chen Siyu's tent. "I just boiled some water. They can use it to wash up tomorrow."

Cheng Zhi looked at Qi Yanche's still-wet hair and said, "You two definitely didn't use hot water, right?"

Qi Yanche paused for a moment, then said somewhat guiltily, "We're young and strong, using cold water is fine for us, it's actually quite refreshing."

Upon hearing this, Cheng Zhi immediately tapped him on the head twice, "You can only take care of others after you've taken care of yourselves. Why can't you understand this principle..."

Seeing Cheng Zhi's confident and eloquent words, Qi Yanche didn't dare to refute her at all and listened attentively to her lecture.

Seeing that Qi Yanche hadn't said a word, Cheng Zhi suddenly stopped. Was he annoyed by not refuting her?

Since they weren't particularly close, Cheng Zhi sighed, "Forget it, I was just being nosy. Do whatever you want, don't worry about what I say. It's getting late, go and get some rest."

Originally listening attentively, Cheng Zhi suddenly took a 360° turn in her tone.

Qi Yanche panicked. Seeing Cheng Zhi turn and leave, he quickly followed and grabbed her sleeve. "You didn't meddle! I... I didn't say anything because I wanted to hear you talk, not because I found you annoying. I care about you!"

Upon hearing this, Cheng Zhi paused for a moment, and she was somewhat afraid to turn around and look at Qi Yanche.

Qi Yanche's mouth moved faster than his brain. After saying the last sentence, he panicked and quickly tried to cover it up, "I... I care about what you said. Honest advice is hard to hear, but you're all doing this for our own good."

Cheng Zhi turned around slightly and nodded. "Okay, as long as you don't find it annoying. Go to sleep now. You should go to sleep early too. Remember to dry your hair before you sleep, otherwise you'll get headaches when you get old."

After saying that, Cheng Zhi tried to leave, but Qi Yanche still held onto her sleeve tightly. Cheng Zhi shook her arm and whispered, "Let go..."
