Chapter 213 The Moth Appeared

That's a bit scary.

I don't know why they came here, whether it was because of the light or the smell of blood.

Qi Yanche looked at the gauze that had been removed from the garbage bag and said, "Why don't you burn these? They might have come here by smell."

Without hesitation, Chen Yi quickly took out the gauze, placed it on the floor, and burned it.

After it was burned, perhaps the smell of burning temporarily masked the smell of blood, and the two moths fluttered their wings a couple of times before flying away.

There's nothing unusual on the 13th floor for now, but things are different at Chen Siyu's house in the distance.

The spot in their yard covered with a bed sheet was already crawling with moths.

If the man hidden under the corpse hadn't been gagged, he probably would have screamed out loud long ago.

He saw swarms of moths, which were acting like madmen, frantically biting at humans as if they were plants.

After the moths finished eating the not-so-fresh corpse, they saw the man lying underneath. They couldn't understand his trembling body out of fear; they only knew that it was a symbol of life.

They fluttered their wings and flew toward him; the main course had begun.

Everyone else had already gone to bed early because they had been traveling all day.

Only Chen Siyu and Zheng Wan watched this scene from the window.

Zheng Wan saw a strange trembling under the sheets, a mixture of human struggle and the fluttering of moths, before it gradually calmed down, and the sheets seemed to be soaked with a large amount of blood.

She got goosebumps all over and her stomach felt uncomfortable. "Siyu, stop looking. He's definitely dead, not even a trace left."

Although Chen Siyu also felt disgusted, she just wanted to watch him die.

"Do you think he was scared to death, or died from the pain?" Chen Siyu asked, watching the group of moths fly away after they had eaten their fill.

Zheng Wan rubbed her stomach and replied, "Probably all of them, anyway, they died in great pain."

Chen Siyu turned her slightly sore neck. "Then I'm relieved. Let's go to sleep."

Seeing her like this, Zheng Wan patted Chen Siyu's shoulder affectionately. "Let's go back to the room. We'll write a note for Cheng Zhi and the others and have Xiao Zhi give it to them so they won't worry."

When Cheng Zhi's side was mentioned, Chen Siyu became a little worried, "I wonder how things are going on their side."

Zheng Wan patted her back, "It's okay, we don't have any here. They're on higher ground, so there should be fewer bugs there."

Zheng Wan was right. Cheng Zhi and the others slept very well that night. If they hadn't seen the bloodstains on the window when they woke up in the morning, they wouldn't have known that insects had been there.

Huang Yiyi felt disgusted after just one glance, but Xiao Feiran was still staring at it. "Tell me, was this left by a cockroach or a moth?"

Huang Yiyi answered with her eyes closed, "Does it matter?"

It seemed there really wasn't much difference. Xiao Feiran withdrew her gaze. "We should look on the bright side. At least they had a good meal last night, so they shouldn't come to eat us for the time being."

The word "temporary" is both a relief and a fear.

Huang Yiyi shrank her neck and said, "I hope one meal from them is enough to last a year, so they won't come again."

Although Xiao Feiran was not very clear-headed, she still felt it was unlikely. In order not to scare Huang Yiyi, she did not say anything and got up to wash up.

On the other side, Cheng Zhi's family also got up. Cheng's mother leaned against the headboard and looked at the dirty glass. "If you had told me a year ago that moths would eat people, I might have taken you to see a doctor or... to get an exorcism. But now, I'm starting to wonder if I'm possessed."

Cheng Zhi got up and then lay down on her mother's lap again. "Right? It really is fake, like a movie, but unfortunately it's true."

Cheng's mother lowered her head and gently tidied Cheng Zhi's hair with her hands. "So how do you know so much? Can you tell me what the ending is?"

Cheng Zhi, still with her eyes closed, smiled and said, "Mom, I don't know what the ending is. You'll have to ask... ask God, ask Buddha, or ask the universe."

After getting up, Cheng Zhi and her mother ate some protein bars for breakfast after washing up.

The two boys in the dorm also got up, but you could tell from their dark circles that they hadn't slept well last night.

Mr. Cheng sat down, and Mrs. Cheng leaned closer to look at his eyes. "My goodness, so many blood vessels in your eyes. Did you have insomnia last night?"

Cheng Ye yawned and slumped weakly on the sofa. "Last night's story, coupled with the moths that kept crashing into the glass and leaving bloody marks, created such a terrifying atmosphere that my dad and I couldn't sleep at all."

Who would have thought there would be moths in the middle of the night? Cheng's mother was a little embarrassed and handed them two protein bars. "Who would have thought they were covered in blood? Go and catch up on your sleep after you finish eating. You each have your own bed, and we won't disturb you."

While they were eating, Cheng Zhi kept peering through the peephole, wanting to know what was happening in the hallway.

From her limited perspective, Cheng Zhi didn't see any insects, but she didn't plan to go outside, just in case they were all hiding in the ceiling.

After looking down the corridor, she became worried about Chen Siyu's situation, so she went into the bathroom, locked the door, and tried to check on her.

As soon as she locked the door, Xiao Zhi appeared on the sink, wearing two pink sticky notes on its head, and greeted Cheng Zhi, "Good morning, Master!"

The sudden appearance of the dark shadow startled Cheng Zhi; she mistook it for a giant moth and was nearly scared to death.

Cheng Zhi took a step back and pressed herself against the door, clutching her chest as she said, "You scared me to death! If you had spoken a second later, you would have been smashed to pieces!"
