Xiao Feiran reached up and took the clip off her head. "I'm always ready."
Perhaps because these high-rise buildings are inhabited by wealthy people, the locks are indeed harder to open than those at the school.
Seeing Xiao Feiran's smooth and effortless movements, Cheng Zhi said, "Job guidance courses are usually offered in the senior year, but I feel that Master Xiao doesn't need them at all. You're self-taught. That's genius."
Hearing Cheng Zhi say that, Xiao Feiran stopped what he was doing. "Isn't this just a lucky break? Besides, I can't possibly become a lock picker."
However, this statement is really problematic.
Huang Yiyi corrected from the side, "Sister, that profession is called locksmith, and those who pick locks are criminals."
Xiao Feiran: "..."
Xiao Feiran continued to try, and Huang Yiyi, who was next to her, continued the topic.
She turned around, looked at Cheng Zhi and Xiao Feiran, and asked, "Have you thought about what the future will be like? I mean, the future without disaster. How will we start our new lives after the disaster ends?"
Cheng Zhi's eyes darted around, and after thinking for a moment, she said, "To be honest, I haven't thought about it in detail, because every time I think about it, I feel that the scene is too dreamlike... you could say too unrealistic. I'm afraid my expectations will be dashed, so I try not to think about it too much. What I need to do is try to live to that day, and then I can embrace a new life in peace."
After Cheng Zhi finished speaking, the other two people didn't say anything.
Huang Yiyi took over the conversation, her expression noticeably more relaxed. "I'm a little different from you. Every night I imagine my future life in my mind, and every night it's different. Maybe I'm too optimistic and lack a sense of crisis, but I'm still really looking forward to it. If we could balance things out a bit, maybe things would be much better."
Now only Xiao Feiran remained silent, and they turned their attention to her.
She didn't intend to avoid the topic. Xiao Feiran put down what she was doing and said very seriously, "Well... my thoughts are simpler than yours. I just want to say goodbye to the past completely, spend time with my family, live a good life, and love everyone who loves me."
Xiao Feiran looked up at the two of them, and then the three of them laughed.
Cheng Zhi and Huang Yiyi both squatted down and hugged Xiao Feiran.
"Live well, and your wish will come true." Cheng Zhi said while patting their backs.
Huang Yiyi couldn't stand these words. She secretly wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes. "Stop doing this. Do you think you're writing some kind of lyrical prose?"
Xiao Feiran chimed in, "Alright, sisters, let's put our dreams aside for now. I've already picked the lock."
Cheng Zhi and Huang Yiyi immediately stopped being sad and their expressions turned to shock.
Cheng Zhi glanced at the lock and then at Xiao Feiran. "What's going on? Did you just open it? While we were embracing each other?"
Xiao Feiran nodded, feigning seriousness. "I'm a master, you know. I can multitask."
Just as the two were about to believe it, Xiao Feiran couldn't help but say, "Hahahaha, I was just kidding you guys. I haven't reached that point yet. I just opened it right before I was speaking."
After unlocking the door, I took the opportunity to check the situation inside.
Their flashlights weren't bright enough to illuminate the entire room, so Cheng Zhi didn't rush inside. Instead, she went into the space and brought Xiao Zhi out.
Xiao Zhi thought he was out to do cleaning, but Cheng Zhi only asked him to provide light.
Xiao Zhi walked to the middle of the living room, stretched out his mechanical arms, and the next second both arms lit up like LED tubes.
The three of them finally got a clear look at the room in front of them. If it weren't for the mess, it would have looked just like a showroom.
Xiao Feiran's attention was entirely focused on the open kitchen connected to the living room, which was more like a wine cabinet than a kitchen.
She didn't know much about wine, but the whole wall of wines looked quite expensive.
Xiao Feiran and Huang Yiyi had already gone inside, while Cheng Zhi remained in the entryway, rummaging through the cabinets.
Finally, she found a set of keys in a small black velvet box at the bottom of the shoe cabinet. She tried inserting them into the door and found that they were indeed spare keys.
There wasn't much to see in the living room and kitchen. They mainly checked the doors and windows for damage, and after receiving confirmation, they wanted to go inside.
The master bedroom and guest bedroom are also very simple. The children's room is quite interesting. It has a bunk bed that is wider at the bottom and narrower at the top. The lower bunk is about 1.5 meters wide.
Huang Yiyi saw a photo on the wall, in which a pair of twin boys, about five or six years old, were eating ice cream together.
There's nothing wrong with this apartment; they're going to move to the one across the hall.
Just as Xiao Feiran was about to squat down and pick the lock, Xiao Zhi suddenly moved forward and pulled a key out from under the doormat.
Xiao Feiran took the key. "You knew there was a key here all along? Why didn't you just bring it back? It's dangerous to leave it here. What if someone takes it?"
“We can’t blame it. We just gave it the task of checking things that day,” Huang Yiyi replied from the side.
That makes sense. Robots are meant to follow orders, and they certainly won't do anything unnecessary.
After the group entered the room, Xiao Zhi continued to act as the lighting technician.
