The seven people who contracted the bacteria and virus ultimately did not survive.
They carried the virus and died tragically, so even if Zoe wanted to give them a dignified departure, there was no way to do so. In the end, Zoe decided to return them to the sea.
The crew members, wearing protective suits, carried the bodies to the stern and threw them overboard one by one. There were no problems with the first five, but the last two had families. Their families stood in front of them and wouldn't let anyone get close.
The woman with the ponytail spread her arms to block the crew, saying, "Don't you know what it means to be laid to rest? Just throwing him into the sea like this is no different from dumping a corpse."
There really wasn't much difference, but Zoe still explained, "But we can't store it on our ship, and we don't know when we'll find land. Keeping it here would not only expose it to viruses, but it would also rot and stink over time, which wouldn't be good for him either."
The woman wiped away her tears, glanced back at the man covered by the white sheet, and finally broke down in tears, crying, "You're gone, what have these past 10 years meant to me!"
The woman spoke and cried, becoming increasingly agitated, until she almost fainted.
Two passersby quickly came over to help her up and comforted her, saying, "The deceased is gone, please accept our condolences and don't be too sad. Those who are alive still have to live their lives well."
It's unclear whether the woman heard anything or not, but after a while, the crew threw the woman covered with the white sheet overboard. The woman could only cry and couldn't speak anymore.
While the woman was quite agitated, the girl next to her, who looked to be about fifteen or sixteen years old, was much calmer. She said to the crew member standing next to her, "Sister, can you wait for me a little while? Just a little bit."
This was the final farewell, and the crew agreed, taking two steps back to give them some space.
The little girl took a deep breath, said nothing, sat there for a while, and then turned and left.
Cheng Zhi and Xiao Feiran, standing upstairs, watched and sighed.
Looking at the splashing water, Cheng Zhi whispered, "Those who stayed behind are quite pitiful."
Seeing them crying so sadly, Xiao Feiran continued Cheng Zhi's words, "I hope they can quickly pull themselves together and live a good life."
The crowd gradually dispersed, and Cheng Zhi and the others also started to walk back.
They no longer stay in single rooms. After comforting Zoe that night, Huang Yiyi casually mentioned the vomit outside her room. Zoe immediately waved her hand and moved them to a suite.
These families had taken up all three of the largest suites, and they felt rather embarrassed about it.
Zoe waved her hand dismissively, "What's the big deal? It's just sitting empty anyway. It wasn't open before because the people who came were scattered, not large families. Your family has both children and elderly people, so it's perfect for you. Don't say you don't want it anymore, or I'll get angry."
The three suites had a total of nine beds, plus three large sofas, which barely managed to fit everyone in.
Cheng Ye rummaged through the large bathtub in the master bedroom, saying, "I can stay here too!"
Cheng Zhi naturally had no objections, but how could Chen Yiyi and Qi Yanche let him succeed?
The two men grabbed him from either side and dragged him out, saying, "The three of us are going to be together forever. How can you leave us and come to live in a suite by yourself?"
Cheng Ye rolled his eyes so hard they almost reached the sky. "Brothers, who said I'd be with you forever? Don't flatter yourself, okay? Now that I'm ready to enjoy life, you're trying to stop me? You're not good brothers at all!"
Qi Yanche was still trying to argue, "We're doing this for your own good. Sleeping in the bathtub is so uncomfortable. You're still growing, you need to sleep in a bed to grow taller, you know?"
Two fists can't fight four hands, and no matter how unwilling Cheng Ye was, he was carried away by the two of them.
Before leaving, he roared just like that Big Bad Wolf, "I will definitely come back!"
Xiao Feiran watched him leave, then thoughtfully closed the door behind her. "Wow, those three men were so noisy."
Chen Siyu and Cheng Zhi were changing the sheets and arranging the four pillows horizontally. Cheng Zhi lay down on top and said, "Don't even mention three people sleeping here, I think four people could sleep here too."
While Cheng Zhi and Xiao Feiran were relatively calm, Chen Siyu was a bit downcast. She sat on the bedside table and said, "When will we find land? Are we going to have to live on this ship for the rest of our lives? I don't really care, but I feel like my little sister and great-grandmother can't take it anymore."
Seeing her like this, Xiao Feiran immediately went into her spatial dimension and brought Xiao Zhi out. "Don't worry, let's do some divination."
The little Zhi in her hand also cooperated, saying, "Master, do you need Tarot, Renoman, or astrological dice?"
They had heard of the other two, but they had never actually played with Renoman.
So Chen Siyu directly said she wanted to use Reynolds.
Before drawing cards, a question must be asked. After thinking for a while, Chen Siyu asked, "Will we be able to find land tomorrow?"
After asking the question, Xiao Zhi started shuffling the cards, and Chen Siyu drew a card. The final answer she received was a very affirmative one: it would be possible tomorrow.
Cheng Zhi and Xiao Feiran found it hard to believe. They looked at the vast ocean outside, with not a trace of land in sight. How could they possibly find it by tomorrow?
Although they felt that Xiao Zhi's divination was going to go wrong, they still held onto hope. Chen Siyu patted Xiao Zhi on the head and said, "Thank you for your kind words. I hope we can see land as soon as we open our eyes tomorrow."
The suite has a kitchen, so they've been cooking for themselves these past few days. On the surface, Cheng Zhi is cooking noodle soup, but behind the scenes, Xiao Feiran is stir-frying everything in the space.
