After everyone sat down, Ivan came over with a box in his hand.
His mouth watered as he saw the roasting rabbit meat in front of the campfire. "Wow, you caught rabbits! And so many of them!"
These were certainly not caught in the forest; they were all raised by themselves.
Huang Yiyi generously picked up one and placed it in front of him, "We're lucky, you're in for a treat today, eat!"
Ivan hadn't eaten meat in a long time, so he quickly put down the tin box he was holding and took it with both hands.
The aroma of cumin and barbecue powder wafted up from the first bite, and the meat was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Ivan almost burst into tears on the spot.
Looking at his little tin box, he instantly felt ashamed. "Compared to this, my cheese and cream baked pasta is really unappetizing."
"How could that be?" Huang Yiyi opened the package and picked up a piece with her chopsticks. "We didn't prepare any staple food, so this is just right to go with it."
Just as they were talking, Chen Yiyi came running over excitedly, holding a plastic box.
"Quick! The cucumber salad is ready, have a taste!"
Chen Yiyi was in such a hurry when she ran over that she almost knocked Huang Yiyi down. If Ivan hadn't blocked it with his arm, she might have actually fallen to the ground.
Huang Yiyi swallowed the mouthful of noodles with difficulty, grabbed Chen Yiyi by the collar and roared, "Big brother, are you a hardworking ox? You almost knocked me flying two miles!"
Chen Yiyi, holding the cucumber salad, looked equally innocent. "You told me to hurry up, but I couldn't stop..."
Seeing Chen Yiyi's pitiful state, Huang Yiyi finally held back and let go of her hand. "Hurry up and sit down to eat. Be more careful next time."
Huang Yiyi considered this as forgiveness, so Chen Yiyi quickly sat up straight and then picked up a piece of smashed cucumber with her chopsticks and brought it over. "Try it, I smashed it really well this time, the size is just right, and the seasoning is just right too."
The firelight made Chen Yiyi's eyes shine brightly, and Huang Yiyi, seeing how expectant he was, simply opened her mouth and accepted it.
Chen Yi asked expectantly, "How is it?"
Huang Yiyi nodded. "The taste is indeed quite good."
Across from them, Shen Lingfeng was feeding his younger sister while eating melon seeds, which greatly displeased her.
She grabbed Shen Lingfeng's wrist and said, "Brother, your rice spoon almost poked my nose!"
Chen Siyu quickly took the rice bowl from her, saying, "You should eat your melon first."
Shen Lingfeng clasped his hands together and apologized to the two sisters, "I was distracted by two things at once, I promise I won't do it again next time."
Zhiyu didn't hold a grudge and forgave Shen Lingfeng on the spot.
She climbed onto Shen Lingfeng and followed his gaze. "What are you looking at, brother? Are you looking at Yi-yi, or Yi-yi, or the little foreigner?"
Shen Lingfeng: "..."
They've revealed everything to me.
Chen Siyu, who was standing next to her, narrowed her eyes and noticed that something was wrong.
She leaned closer and asked in a cheeky tone, "What's going on? Do you like Yiyi? Or Yiyi? Or Yiyi?!"
Shen Lingfeng: "..."
I was just watching a melon, how did I end up getting involved myself?!
And what's with those two "yiyi"s at the back?!
Shen Lingfeng turned to look at Chen Siyu with a smile, "First of all, I'm straight."
Chen Siyu seemed to understand. She said "Oh," and snapped her fingers. "Then I understand!"
"What do you know?! I don't know anything!"
Shen Lingfeng wanted to say a few words in his defense, but the sound of drums coming from afar interrupted him.
Everyone stopped and looked into the depths of the forest, where the rhythmic drumming seemed to be mixed with songs they couldn't understand.
Ivan pointed behind him and said, "Over there lives a Roma woman. She's a witch who sings blessings every night."
The second sister and Zheng Wan sitting next to her immediately became interested.
Zheng Wan winked in that direction. "Can we go take a look? Does she allow people to see her?"
“Of course.” Ivan immediately stood up. “That lady is a very nice person.”
Everyone wanted to go and see, and the campsite was empty in no time.
After walking a few hundred meters, they saw the red-haired beauty behind the campfire.
She was draped in a ginger-yellow and dark green patchwork blanket, holding a hand drum, and singing with her eyes closed, completely absorbed in the music.
Although Cheng Zhi and the others couldn't understand the lyrics, they could feel the wild energy mixed with the wind and fire.
When the song ended, the red-haired woman opened her eyes.
Ivan went up to greet her, and she stood up and responded warmly.
She looked at the large group of people in front of her and said something they couldn't understand.
Ivan realized what was happening and immediately translated for them, "This is Dalila, she just invited you in to warm yourselves by the fire."
Cheng Zhi and the others said thank you, and then immediately sat down around the campfire.
They sat scattered about, leaning against Ivan's two-way interpreter, chatting intermittently.
Dalila scanned each of their faces, her gaze finally returning to Cheng Zhi beside her.
She just stared at Cheng Zhi like that, making Cheng Zhi feel a little uneasy.
Ivan explained from the side, "Don't panic, Dalila means no harm. She's probably attracted to your soul."
Cheng Zhi's eyes widened slightly involuntarily, drawn by the idea of a soul, which sounded rather frightening.
Cheng Zhi didn't know how long Dalila had been watching, but she felt so nervous that she was about to break out in a sweat.
Finally, a gentle breeze blew by, and Dalila's expression changed. She couldn't help but reach out and gently touch Cheng Zhi's face, while saying a few words.
After listening, Ivan paused for a moment, then said, "To live from the brink of death, to return to the world of men."
Hearing this, the others were completely confused, but Cheng Zhi and her four roommates felt a chill run down their spines.
Even though she was nervous, Cheng Zhi smiled and said to Dalila, "Thank you for your blessing. After the disaster, we will all return to the world."
Dalila smiled when she heard this, and patted Cheng Zhi's hand, saying, "You have a very strong soul, and you will definitely be able to overcome difficulties."
After saying this, Dalila got up and went back into the house.
With their master gone, they naturally had to go back as well. Everyone got up, and Ivan casually extinguished the fire.
They had all walked a short distance when suddenly Dalila's voice rang out behind them again.
Cheng Zhi and the others stopped, and everyone assumed that she still had something to say to Cheng Zhi.
Unexpectedly, she didn't look at Cheng Zhi at all. Instead, she was looking for someone in the crowd. When she saw Qi Yanche, she stopped and said a long speech. After she finished speaking, she left.
Ivan translated, "She said your parents aren't on this continent, but in the high mountains to the east. You must hurry up and find them, otherwise it will be a very long time before you see them again, or worse, you might never see them again."
Anyone who heard that would be nervous; Qi Yanche was visibly tense.
Cheng Zhi looked back and said, "Why don't we go ask the captain when we're leaving? This can't be delayed."
