Chapter 249 is back

After five days of trekking, they were finally nearing the border.

Cheng Ye was driving, Xiao Feiran was in the passenger seat helping to look at the map, and Cheng Zhi was in the back looking at photos.

Zhiyu, who was sitting in the middle, also craned her neck to look. "Sister, that deer was really big! It felt bigger than our car."

Cheng Zhi, who usually loves watching animal documentaries, explained, "You're right, this deer is a moose, and it is indeed taller than our car."

Huang Yiyi, who was behind, yawned and said, "It's been five days. We've seen two deer, three bears, five wolves, and three and a half people."

The child was still here, and she started talking without restraint.

Zheng Wan, who was standing next to her, patted her on the shoulder and said, "What do you mean three and a half people? There were four of them."

Zheng Wan was afraid of scaring Zhi Yu, but Zhi Yu's focus was not on that.

She turned to Huang Yiyi and said, "Sister, those are five dogs! They look exactly like Liu Liu."

"..."

Cheng Zhi gave up explaining and said with a smile, "Yes, it's clearly a dog. Your sister Yiyi is blind and made a mistake."

Xiao Feiran, sitting in the passenger seat, checked the distance and calculated the speed. "If nothing unexpected happens, we should arrive around 8 p.m. tonight."

She turned to look at Cheng Zhi, "So, are we driving over tonight or waiting until tomorrow morning?"

Cheng Zhi didn't want to wait any longer. "Let's go there tonight. It's more reassuring to be back in a place we're familiar with."

I don't know if it's because everyone has come out after walking for so many days, or if there are just a lot of people at the border.

The further they drove, the more people they encountered, mostly white, but there were also one or two Asians.

Cheng Zhi wanted to ask them where they were going, but she was afraid of being robbed if she stopped, so she ignored everything and just kept driving forward.

Around 6 p.m., they could clearly feel that the place was becoming more and more like home.

Chen Siyu leaned out the window and looked out, pointing excitedly at the long-abandoned truck, saying, "I see a Chinese license plate!"

Huang Yiyi, who was driving, patted the steering wheel and said, "I also see the railway next to us. If we follow the tracks, we can get home."

Just as Xiao Feiran had calculated, around 8 p.m., they saw the road sign and finally arrived.

The road was difficult to navigate, and Huang Yiyi drove very carefully, afraid of getting stuck in the mud.

In the darkness, all they could see was the area illuminated by the car headlights; they couldn't see anyone around them, and they had no idea where they were.

Apart from Huang Yiyi, who was driving, everyone else was very wary of their surroundings.

After driving for another half hour, Zheng Wan asked in a low voice, "So, did we get here or not?"

The new road signs came into view, and seeing the familiar Chinese characters, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

Huang Yiyi was the most dramatic; she gripped the steering wheel tightly and started panting heavily.

"I've been a law-abiding citizen for several years, and suddenly I was caught smuggling myself across the border and driving without a license plate. It really made me nervous."

Xiao Feiran, who was standing next to her, patted her chest reassuringly, "Take a break, I'm afraid you won't be able to breathe."

Having returned to the embrace of their motherland, they drove for another half hour before parking their car next to an abandoned convenience store to rest.

They got out of the car, put it away, and then returned to their spatial dimension.

Chen Siyu couldn't wait to announce the news, and everyone cheered.

My great-grandmother, in particular, was overjoyed and wept, saying, "I thought I would never come back."

Chen Siyu hugged her great-grandmother comfortingly, "How could that be? We're back now, and we'll be able to return to Jiufeng Mountain in a couple of days."

The older sisters were also very happy, especially the fourth sister, who exclaimed, "We're finally back! We don't have to cook anymore!"

The third sister poured cold water on the idea, saying, "Our house might have collapsed long ago. Even if we come back, we'll have to start all over again."

After saying this, the two started fighting.

Zheng Wan: "..."

Destroy him, he's almost thirty and still the same.

After enjoying the lively atmosphere together for a while, everyone went back to their rooms to rest.

Cheng Zhi lay in bed, exhausted but unable to fall asleep.

When Xiao Feiran came out of the shower, he saw her staring blankly into space. "What are you thinking about so intently?"

Cheng Zhi turned to the side and said, "I was thinking about Chen Yiyi and the others. The car we left for them shouldn't have been stolen, right? Did they see the markings we left? They should be able to get here smoothly, right?"

So that's what they were worried about.

Xiao Feiran stood by the bed and said, "We've been quite safe on our way here, so they'll definitely arrive safely too."

Cheng Zhi shook her head. "Have you forgotten the bad luck they have?"

Although they've never had much luck, nothing seems to have happened in the last few years.

Xiao Feiran couldn't remember, but Cheng Zhi remembered it vividly.

She sat up in bed and counted on her fingers, saying, "Of course there are! Cutting down trees and finding snakes, catching rabbits and getting bitten, walking in the woods and being chased by bees for no reason—aren't these all examples of them?"

"..."

Xiao Feiran fell silent, and a picture instantly flashed in her mind: "If it weren't for Dalila's help that time, I don't know when Chen Yiyi and the others would have gotten rid of their swollen faces."

Cheng Zhi clasped her hands together and prayed, "I hope they will be blessed by God this time."

After thinking about Chen Yiyi and the others, it's time to think about my own affairs.

Xiao Feiran threw back the covers and lay down, asking, "Have Mom and Dad decided? Where are we going?"
