Chapter 255 Extra: Yi Yi and Yi Yi

When did you start liking Chen Yiyi?

Huang Yiyi herself didn't know either.

The first year of reconstruction—

The clock had already struck 7, but Chen Yiyi and Shen Lingfeng still hadn't returned.

Huang Ma went out to look around, but there was still no sign of the two children at the other end of the road.

She went back to the kitchen, took out an extra-large food container, and put the food that had been kept warm on the stove into it.

As Huang Ma packed, she called out, "Yiyi, come help!"

Huang Yiyi glanced at the time and guessed that she was being asked to deliver food again. She put down her pen, picked up her coat, and headed to the kitchen.

Huang Yi leaned against the door frame, watching her mother frantically stuffing food into her bowl. She tried to stop her, saying, "Mom, you're stuffing too much. They can't finish it."

Huang Ma disagreed, saying, "They work on construction sites, how could they not be tired?"

Huang Yiyi chuckled and said, "They're not bricklayers, they're really not that tired."

Huang's mother put the packed food into an insulated bag and handed it to Huang Yiyi, saying, "Hurry up, it'll get cold if you're late."

The construction site wasn't far from her home; she could walk there. As she walked, Huang Yiyi wondered when she had last seen Chen Yiyi.

It seems like it was several weeks ago. They've been working overtime and haven't come back much.

While this side of the road is being cleared, construction has begun on the other side, and Jiufeng Mountain is slowly returning to normal.

After walking for about ten minutes, Huang Yiyi arrived at the entrance of the construction site.

She was blocked off from the area, and if she wanted to go in, she had to register her information and then wait for someone to come and pick her up.

A short while later, Chen Yiyi, wearing a red safety helmet, came out.

He took the food, then handed the hat to Huang Yiyi, "Why did you suddenly come?"

As Huang Yiyi put on her hat, she said, "How long has it been since you went home? My mom was worried you'd starve to death here, so she sent me to bring you food."

Chen Yiyi said with a smile, "There's no other way. I have to work day and night. I can't leave."

Before they knew it, the two of them arrived at the dormitory entrance.

The room was simple, with only two small iron beds and a small table that could barely hold anything.

There was only one stool in Chen Yiyi's room, which he needed to use for meals, so he let Huang Yiyi sit on the bed.

After Huang Yiyi sat down, she couldn't help but flip over his mattress. "This mattress is almost as thin as a potato chip. How can anyone sleep on this?"

Chen Yiyi patted her hand, "Tsk, why are you rummaging through my things as soon as you come in? It's a construction site, so just make do."

Huang Yiyi pulled her hand back and looked at the person in front of her who was wolfing down his food. She almost suspected that he hadn't eaten for days.

She picked up the kettle from the bedside table, poured some water, and handed it to him, saying, "Don't eat so fast, it's not good for your health."

Chen Yiyi realized that he was eating a bit too much, and he smiled embarrassedly.

Huang Yiyi shook her head, "You're not eating well, you're not sleeping well, and you still don't go home. I really don't understand."

From the moment he entered the door until now, Huang Yiyi had been urging him to go home with every word she said. Chen Yiyi swallowed his food and said, "I'll go back after I'm done with this."

After he finished speaking, Huang Yiyi hummed in response and then fell silent.

The sudden silence made Chen Yiyi feel uneasy.

He glanced at Huang Yiyi to make sure she wasn't angry, then asked, "Stop talking about me. How have you been lately?"

Huang Yiyi touched the callus on her right middle finger. "It's alright. Kids these days are pretty well-behaved and easy to teach."

Chen Yiyi looked at her hand and said, "Don't be lazy, wrap it with tape, that way it won't hurt so much."

He's already in this state, and he's still trying to comfort me. Huang Yiyi immediately laughed, "Hahaha, let's not try to persuade each other anymore."

Chen Yiyi ate half of it and left the other half for Shen Lingfeng.

Huang Yiyi stood up and said, "That's settled then. Remember to wash the dishes and bring them with you when you come back another day. I'm leaving now."

Seeing that she was about to leave, Chen Yiyi pointed outside and asked, "Aren't you going to look around a bit before you go?"

Huang Yiyi thought for a moment and then shook her head in refusal, "Let's talk about it another day, I still have to go back and write my lesson plan."

With work to do, Chen Yiyi naturally didn't stay.

The two slowly walked towards the door, with Chen Yiyi stealing glances at Huang Yiyi every now and then.

Huang Yiyi: "..." What is this all about?

She stopped in her tracks and looked at Chen Yiyi questioningly, "Is there something on my face? You've looked at me eight hundred times, just say what you want to say, okay?"

Chen Yiyi pursed her lips and said, "No, I just feel like you're not the same as before. If it were before, you would have come up and started making sarcastic remarks about me, and then dragged me around the construction site. Are you in a bad mood?"

Huang Yiyi scratched her forehead. "You're overthinking it. I'm a teacher now, and I just want to be more composed. That's all."

Just as they were about to reach the door, Huang Yiyi returned the hat to Chen Yiyi, said "I'm leaving now," and disappeared.

Before going to bed at night, Chen Yiyi lay in bed lost in thought.

Shen Lingfeng, who was sewing his pants at the table, felt a chill run down his spine when he saw him like this.

He gently nudged Chen Yiyi and said, "Big brother, are you asleep with your eyes open? You haven't blinked even once."

Chen Yi sat up and said, "No, something's not right."

Shen Lingfeng was completely confused. "What are you talking about? I don't understand a word you're saying."

Chen Yiyi turned around and looked at Shen Lingfeng, saying, "I'm telling you, Huang Yiyi, I feel like something's wrong with her."

Shen Lingfeng put away the needle and thread and gestured for him to speak, "Tell me about it."
