Even when she was close to giving birth, Chen Siyu persisted in working.
Shen Lingfeng was just as busy, especially these past few days, he hadn't been able to pick Chen Siyu up from get off work.
Cheng Zhi took the initiative to accept the task, and seeing that Chen Siyu's seatbelt was too tight, she was a little worried.
"You should start your maternity leave as soon as possible," Cheng Zhi said.
Chen Siyu patted her belly nonchalantly, "There are still more than twenty days left, it's too early to rest now, let's wait and wait a little longer."
Before Cheng Zhi could even begin to persuade her, Chen Siyu continued, "Consider going to work now as exercise. Once the baby is born, it will be difficult for me to go out."
That's exactly what she meant. Cheng Zhi comforted her, "It's okay. We only have one child in the family, so we'll help you take care of him."
Cheng Zhi was right. When Chen Siyu got home, she saw several mothers packing their suitcases.
Huang Yiyi looked puzzled, put down her bag and leaned forward, "Auntie, are you going on a trip?"
Huang's mother tapped her daughter's head with something in her hand in disgust, "Can't you take a good look? What are these things? Do you think I'm going on a trip wearing diapers?"
It turned out to be a maternity bag for Chen Siyu. Huang Yiyi glanced at it and saw all sorts of things, some familiar and some unfamiliar.
Everything was packed, and Chen Siyu even went up to join in the fun and lifted it up. "It's alright, not too heavy."
This startled them, and Cheng Zhi quickly went to support her, saying, "You're so energetic all day long, you'll be relieved if you hurt your back!"
Chen Siyu was a little embarrassed, "It's just a habitual action; I feel like weighing a suitcase whenever I see it."
As her child grew older, Chen Siyu slept less soundly at night, tossing and turning, feeling a tightness in her chest.
Unable to sleep either way, she got up and went downstairs to take a walk in the yard.
Shen Lingfeng returned late and had just finished showering.
It was obvious she couldn't sleep again, so Shen Lingfeng ran to her side and helped her walk.
Looking at her profile, Shen Lingfeng couldn't help but feel a pang of heartache. "You seem to have lost weight recently."
Chen Siyu found it absurd and said with a smile, "Don't talk nonsense. I just had a check-up a couple of days ago, and you can clearly see that I've gained weight."
Shen Lingfeng looked at her stomach with some resentment, "It's the one inside that's getting fat, not you."
Chen Siyu sensed the emotion in Shen Lingfeng's words. She turned her head to look at Shen Lingfeng and said, "Why are you still angry with a child? You're just like a child, hahaha."
Shen Lingfeng snorted and turned his head to the side, refusing to admit it.
After walking around several more times, Chen Siyu's heart gradually calmed down. Looking at her belly, she said, "Shen Lingfeng, the baby is about to be born."
Shen Lingfeng nodded. "Yes, we'll be meeting in just over twenty days."
Chen Siyu stopped in her tracks, staring blankly ahead, and said, "I...I'm a little scared."
This was the first time Chen Siyu had said she was scared. Shen Lingfeng gently put his arm around her shoulder and asked, "What are you afraid of? The child is still your own."
Chen Siyu took a deep breath and closed her eyes. "I'm afraid of everything. I'm afraid I'll lose myself, I'm afraid I won't be able to take good care of the child, and I'm afraid my future days will be like a pot of porridge."
Shen Lingfeng had also been worried about this. He gently stroked Chen Siyu's arm and said, "No, you're not alone. I'll be here."
He was so busy with the project that he was practically running around like a headless chicken. Chen Siyu just smiled and didn't take it seriously.
With her due date approaching, Chen Siyu went into labor early.
When I arrived at the hospital, the ward was packed with people.
When Shen Lingfeng arrived, Chen Siyu was almost in the delivery room.
Chen Siyu was in excruciating pain, so she called Shen Lingfeng over and asked, "Did you see the message I just sent you?"
Shen Lingfeng was sweating profusely. He wiped Chen Siyu's sweat as he said, "What time is it? Don't think about these things, okay? You will all be safe."
Chen Siyu shook her head, shook his hand, and then pressed on, "Just tell me if you agree or not."
Shen Lingfeng didn't care about anything else and nodded vigorously, almost hitting his chin on the railing.
Seeing that he finally agreed, Chen Siyu finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After Chen Siyu entered the delivery room, Xiao Feiran sat down next to Shen Lingfeng.
She looked at Shen Lingfeng, whose hands were clasped tightly together, and said in a low voice, "You two are really something. If she hadn't been in so much pain, we would still be completely in the dark."
Shen Lingfeng lowered his hand from between his brows, looking at the door of the delivery room with some fear. "Will she be alright?"
Xiao Feiran said without hesitation, "Of course they'll be fine."
“They will all be healthy.” Xiao Feiran patted Shen Lingfeng on the shoulder. “Now that you know you’re his father, don’t even think about slacking off.”
Shen Lingfeng never thought of slacking off. He opened his phone and placed it in front of Xiao Feiran, "I've already told my boss that I'm going on paternity leave, so you don't need to ask for leave."
Xiao Feiran smiled and shook his head, "You're too late. I've already applied for five days of annual leave."
The two were talking outside when Huang Yiyi and Cheng Zhi rushed over.
The two women were out of breath from running. Huang Yiyi, hands on her hips, asked, "How is it... has she given birth yet?"
Zheng Wan took out some paper from her bag and handed it to them. "They've been inside for more than two hours and haven't come out yet. Sit down and wait a while."
From afternoon to evening, the group paced back and forth outside, so anxious that they didn't even want to eat.
