Chapter 34 Applying Medicine

Unexpectedly, Qi Yanche was on their side, which made the indigenous people very embarrassed.

Grandpa Huang was so anxious that he clapped his hands and stomped his feet, muttering, "Why is this child siding with outsiders?"

Not only Grandpa Huang, but other residents also criticized Qi Yanche for being inconsiderate.

Qi Yanche turned around and stood on Cheng Zhi's side, glancing at the residents. "The typhoon has been raging for over a month without any rescue efforts. Life has been difficult enough. They haven't bothered you. Why don't we all get along amicably?"

The middle-aged man standing in the middle pretended to be in a difficult position, "Xiao Che, you can see that we are also having a hard time. Mr. Gu's family has a generator, but now these girls are occupying it, so we can't use it. The old and the young are at home, and they are almost fainting from the heat today."

Cheng Zhi and the others already had a generator, so they didn't mind losing one. They thought they could settle things with this generator. "I can give you the generator, but we have nowhere to go right now, so we'll stay here. How about we exchange this house for a generator?"

The middle-aged man and Grandpa Huang exchanged a glance, and the two neighbors reached a consensus, hurriedly agreeing.

The woman with the wavy hair, who lived a bit further away from them, got anxious. Her eyes practically bulged out, and she started saying sarcastically, "Does this whole neighborhood belong to you? You think you can just do whatever you want? You're carrying the generator back to your own home, what are we supposed to do?!"

The man's expression changed quickly; he waved his hand and said, "That's none of my business. We should handle our own family matters."

The woman was unhappy to hear this, and the two started fighting.

Cheng Zhi was annoyed. She grabbed a kitchen knife and slammed it against the iron gate, making a loud noise. She shouted, "Whatever personal grudges you residents have, please settle them yourselves. Don't shout here. It's late, you should go to sleep!"

The man who got the generator disdained to fight the woman with big waves in her hair. He simply pushed her to the ground and left with the generator.

Seeing the man leave, the woman with the big waves went completely mad. She didn't rush up to grab the generator because she knew she couldn't beat those big men, so she turned around and attacked Cheng Zhi instead.

All five of them thought the matter was over and let their guard down for a moment. By the time they realized what was happening, the woman had already rushed in front of Cheng Zhi.

Cheng Zhi was a beat slow. Although she reflexively took a half step back, the woman's sharp nails still grazed her face, leaving two bloody marks.

Qi Yanche, who was standing next to him, immediately turned pale and pulled Cheng Zhi behind him to protect her.

Xiao Feiran kicked the woman from behind, sending her flying at least two meters. Chen Siyu rushed up and shocked her with a stun gun. The woman, who had just been so elegant with her wavy hair, was now lying on the ground, covered in dirt and groaning in pain.

Qi Yanche was slightly shocked when she saw the weapons in their hands, but she quickly accepted it. It was normal for girls to carry something for self-defense when it was so dangerous outside.

"Aunt Liu, what are you doing!" Qi Yanche pulled the two angry girls back.

Aunt Liu lay on the ground, clutching her stomach, which had been kicked and was now aching, glaring fiercely at the five girls behind him. "If they hadn't taken this house, everything in it would be mine! Why can they just take what they can get without having to go out and fight tooth and nail to get it!"

Huang Yiyi laughed in anger, tossed her hair back, and said through gritted teeth, "Auntie, you're so hypocritical! Aren't we outsiders to the owner of this house? You can use it, but we can't?"

Qi Yanche glanced at the bloodstains on Cheng Zhi's face, his eyes filled with heartache. He then turned to Aunt Liu, his tone laced with anger, and said, "Aunt Liu, Uncle Gu and his family have been abroad for over a year. Whatever they have is long gone. What they own is theirs, so please stop making a scene here!"

After saying that, he pulled Cheng Zhi behind him and walked into the house.

Aunt Liu, still lying on the ground, was throwing a tantrum. Now she was not only cursing the girl, but also Qi Yanche, yelling, "You're no better! You're siding with outsiders! Just you wait, when my husband comes back, he'll have you all arrested and thrown in jail!"

Having lived in the apocalypse for so long, Xiao Feiran really hated hearing these threatening words. He drew the knife from behind his back and held it to Aunt Liu's neck. "Stop talking, or I'll really kill you. Get out of here now."

Even the most outspoken person has never had a knife to their throat before. Aunt Liu's legs went weak, and she didn't say another word until Xiao Feiran left. It was unclear whether she was truly speechless or simply too terrified to speak.

When the four of them got home, they saw Qi Yanche applying medicine to Cheng Zhi. They immediately stopped the car and stood in the dark entryway to watch the show.

The cool cotton swab stung her face, but Cheng Zhi completely ignored it, staring at Qi Yanche's face, unsure how to react.

She could have applied the medicine to herself in front of the mirror, but Qi Yanche's movements were so fast that she didn't have time to refuse.

The scratches on her face weren't deep, and Qi Yanche treated them gently and quickly. "Be careful when you wash up these next few days, and make sure you don't get them wet. Also, eat a light diet, or they'll get inflamed."

The two were quite close, separated only by a medicine box, and Cheng Zhi could even see the newly sprouted stubble on Qi Yanche's chin.

Seeing that Cheng Zhi did not respond, Qi Yanche was a little worried that she might be frightened, and said gently, "What's wrong? Are you scared?"

Having survived nearly a year in the apocalypse, Cheng Zhi didn't take this little commotion seriously at all. She coughed twice and said she wasn't afraid at all.

Qi Yanche was unaware of these things; he simply assumed Cheng Zhi was putting on a brave face. "It's alright. Next time something like this happens, just call out. There are four of us men right next door."

After saying that, he stood up to go home, and Cheng Zhi got up to see him off. When the two of them reached the entrance, Qi Yanche asked, "Where are your four roommates? Why haven't they come in yet?"

Cheng Zhi: "..." You might not believe it, but they've been watching the show the whole time.

Cheng Zhi couldn't tell the truth, so she made up a story, saying that they might have eaten too much for dinner and were taking a walk outside.

Unexpectedly, Qi Yanche actually believed it and even told them to stay indoors as much as possible, since they were very likely to get heatstroke even at night.

Qi Yanche had just stepped out the door when four women appeared, instantly making the entryway very crowded.

Cheng Zhi's face darkened, and she turned to run away, but she couldn't overcome the strength of the four men, and was pinned to the spot.
