Everyone was doing their own thing, except for Huang Yiyi, who was still brooding in bed, unhappy.
It wasn't that she was unhappy; she just felt she couldn't balance her relationships with friends and family. She wished she had a sibling, so she wouldn't worry about her parents being lonely when she was away from home.
As Huang Yiyi was thinking to herself, there was a knock on the door. She replied, "Come in," and her parents came in together.
Huang's mother brought in a cup of hot milk, and Huang's father brought in two strips of meat.
"Oh dear, you're asleep so early? I don't believe you. Get up and drink this glass of milk." With that, Huang's mother handed the warm milk in her hand to Huang Yiyi.
Huang Yiyi took the cup, gulped it down, put it down, and then climbed up and clung to her mother.
Huang's mother casually put her arm around Huang Yiyi and patted her head twice. "What's wrong? Were you sulking here by yourself just now?"
Huang Yiyi shook her head in denial and sighed, "I'm not angry, I'm just troubled."
Mr. Huang, who was squatting on the ground teasing the dog, immediately laughed. "I knew my daughter couldn't be angry. It's normal to be upset, after all, she's faced with a choice."
Huang Yiyi has always gotten along with her parents like friends, so they were confident that their daughter wasn't angry. Huang Yiyi was also confident that her parents hadn't come in to persuade her not to leave.
Huang's father threw two pieces of jerky on the ground, letting the fries eat them by themselves, then stood up, pulled out a chair in Huang Yiyi's room and sat down. "We're facing another choice. This one seems even harder than the last. What are your thoughts?"
If she had any ideas, she wouldn't be here worrying.
Huang Yiyi shrugged. "The best solution I can think of right now is to quickly find Sun Wukong, learn the 72 Transformations, then pluck out some of his hair and blow out a few Huang Yiyi to keep you company, and then blow out a few more Huang Yiyi to keep Cheng Zhi and the others company. That's the best solution."
Mr. and Mrs. Huang were amazed that their daughter could still crack jokes. They burst into laughter.
Huang Ma nodded seriously and looked at Huang Yiyi very earnestly, asking, "Can you really learn it in just a few days? Do you have Sun Wukong's contact information? If not, I can recommend him to you. You can sign up for a crash course there."
Huang Yiyi was successfully amused by her mother, but after laughing, she became anxious again, "Help! Isn't there a way to have the best of both worlds?"
Mr. Huang pushed up his glasses. “There’s no such thing as having it all. You can only choose the one you want to do more. Actually, we know what your priorities are.”
Feeling guilty, Huang Yiyi looked at her parents with a guilty conscience, her thoughts laid bare in front of them. "Don't you feel like you've raised an ungrateful child? You're all grown up and you still don't know how to care for your parents."
Mr. and Mrs. Huang shook their heads in denial almost immediately, saying, "Which young person in their twenties still has their heart at home? Don't they all want to go out and explore the world?"
Mr. Huang also talked about his youth. He went to work in a big city after graduating from university in his twenties and didn't go home for the Spring Festival for three years. In the following years, even when he did go home for the Spring Festival, he only stayed for two or three days.
“If you’re going away for a month or two, and that’s considered unfilial, then wouldn’t your father be a complete sinner?” Mr. Huang waved his hand, thinking it was a small matter. “Just keep it in mind. You weren’t home for the past few months, but you were the one who bought all these things. If it weren’t for you doing all that, we would have been out of food and resources long ago.”
Huang's mother took Huang Yiyi's hand and patted it twice. "Don't worry, your father and I are much healthier than you. At least we can walk 30,000 steps a day without getting out of breath, while you're panting heavily after climbing just four floors. Who knows who will take care of whom if you stay here?"
Huang Yiyi scratched her head sheepishly and said that she had been exercising recently and that her physical condition might be much better than before.
That concludes the discussion about whether or not to leave.
Huang Yiyi looked at her parents, opened her arms, and hugged them both. "Don't worry too much about me, don't miss me too much, I'll be back soon."
Huang's mother patted her back, and although there were tears in her eyes, she still said, "We won't miss you at all. Your aunt lives upstairs from us. Your dad, your aunt, your uncle, and I will be playing mahjong every day. We won't miss you at all."
Huang's parents came out of the room, and Huang Yiyi followed closely behind.
Seeing that Huang Yiyi looked well, Cheng Zhi assumed that both sides had reached an agreement. She followed Huang Yiyi to the kitchen, wanting to ask her how the negotiations had gone.
Cheng Zhi couldn't help but give a thumbs up to Huang Yiyi, who was genuinely surprised by how open-minded Huang's parents were. She was worried that Huang Yiyi would be concerned, so she also mentioned that she would leave more supplies for her.
Huang Yiyi wasn't too worried about supplies, because her mother was a big hoarder; the kitchen and storage room were overflowing with grains, oils, rice, noodles, and snacks. Combined with what she'd already bought, it wouldn't be a problem at all.
Suddenly, Huang Yiyi thought of something and looked at Cheng Zhi with expectant eyes, asking, "Can I leave something else for my parents?"
Cheng Zhi didn't know what she wanted to leave behind, so she could only listen and see.
As it turned out, Huang Yiyi wanted to keep the two rabbits for her parents; whether they wanted to eat them or keep them as pets was up to them.
"That's a great idea. I'll have Chen Siyu help you choose one in a bit. Do you want one that's more lively or one that's more demure?" Cheng Zhi turned to go to the guest room to find Chen Siyu.
As soon as he turned around, before he could even take a step, Huang Yiyi stopped him. "I'll talk to Chen Siyu directly about the rabbit. Don't go yet, drink this water."
Looking at the glass of water still bubbling with blue bubbles, Cheng Zhi had a bad feeling.
"I specially changed it to blueberry flavor for you, drink it quickly." After saying this, Huang Yiyi shoved the water glass directly into Cheng Zhi's hand.
Cheng Zhi: "..." Who's the kind soul who buys so many flavors of effervescent tablets all at once?! The blue one, bubbling away, looks like poison no matter how you look at it!
Cheng Zhi had never missed the taste of plain water so much in her life, and she tried to argue, "I'm afraid I'll explode if I drink so much, and it probably has artificial coloring in it, so it's not good to drink too much."
Huang Yiyi rolled her eyes as if she had heard some nonsense and said, "When you used to drink three cups of milk tea a day, why didn't you get angry or complain?"
Cheng Zhi: "..." When my sister's brain starts working, there's no way to argue with her. Drink up.
