We gathered together and talked for a while, catching up on everyone's situation over the past few months, and two hours had already passed.
Mr. Zheng wanted to talk some more, but Mrs. Zheng stopped him and asked the eldest sister to take them back to their room to rest.
Following Zheng Wan up to the third floor, everyone was like Grandma Liu visiting the Grand View Garden, marveling at everything they saw.
Huang Yiyi leaned over the railing and looked down. "Your house is so big, three stories and such a huge yard. If you don't hire a few people, how can you possibly keep up with the cleaning?"
Zheng Wan, who was in front of them, was opening each room one by one to see which one was suitable for them to stay in, and had no time to pay attention to them at all.
The second sister, Zheng Ling, who came later, picked up the conversation and replied with a smile, "There weren't many people before. Besides two aunties and an uncle who managed the yard, there was no one else. There was always work to be done, so the five of us did it all."
Since everyone had just met, it was impossible to tell the eldest sister and the second sister apart just by looking at their faces. Fortunately, their temperaments were completely different, and after a brief period of identification, everyone relaxed a bit.
Seeing how nervous everyone was, Zheng Ling sighed and rubbed her forehead. "Did Zheng Hao threaten you again? Sharing a face with her is really a headache. She's ruining my public image every day."
It felt like she was angry with herself, and Cheng Zhi found it really funny. "No, my sister is fine too. My eldest sister is great. How should I put it... she's really cool."
Hearing what others said, Zheng Ling glanced downstairs to make sure Zheng Hao wasn't nearby before whispering, "No need to cover for her anymore. I saw what she's doing right now. She's pointing a gun at people and searching their bodies and cars, just like a female bandit!"
As soon as Zheng Wan came out, she saw her second sister talking badly about her eldest sister to someone, holding a bunch of miscellaneous items in her hands. She very kindly reminded her, "Second sister, is it possible that your voice is particularly loud when you stand on the stairs? You don't want to live anymore, but I do. Don't drag me down with you."
Zheng Ling: "..." This almost caused a major disaster.
After talking about her second sister, Zheng Wan turned her attention to her roommates, "You can choose from these three rooms yourselves, and then unpack them yourselves. Find your own things, and call me if you can't find them."
Upon hearing that there were only three rooms, Zheng Ling immediately interrupted Zheng Wan, "Why only three rooms? Have them all cleaned up. Besides, who lets guests clean up rooms?"
806 didn't care about any of that. He told his second sister it was okay and went to choose a room.
Watching their retreating figures, Zheng Ling walked to Zheng Wan's side, put her arm around her sister's shoulder, and said, "Although we haven't known each other for long, it's clear that they are all very nice people."
Zheng Wan nodded, "Being able to become friends with these people is truly...my good fortune."
There's nothing else going on here, so my second sister told them to rest first, as dinner wouldn't be ready for a while.
The group obediently agreed, but Zheng Wan suddenly remembered something and quickly chased after her, exchanging a few more words with her second sister. When she returned, she found that none of the people from room 806 had gone back to their rooms; they were all gathered in her room.
"You're exhausted, why don't you go back and rest?" Zheng Wan asked.
When everyone saw Zheng Wan return, they all turned their attention to her.
Cheng Zhi said softly, "There are so many people in your family, and there are quite a few of us too. Do you have enough food left? If not, we'll quickly get some more."
It turned out that the four of them were worried about this issue. Zheng Wan waved her hand dismissively, "Don't worry about our family's surplus food. My fourth sister is a food blogger with millions of followers. Our basement is her territory. It's practically a small supermarket with everything. Don't worry, she won't eat us out of house and home."
That's true. As a food blogger, Fourth Sister specifically cleaned out the basement as her storage room, and it's filled with all sorts of things. Before the apocalypse started, she didn't actually buy much for the family, just stockpiled some water, rice, flour, and cooking oil.
Finally having their own rooms and no longer having to squeeze in with the boys, the members of 806 locked their doors and went into their personal spaces. The inconvenience of washing up along the way had been quite unpleasant for them.
Every night after lights out, one or two people sneak into the space, but they don't come in to wash up or eat. It takes a long time to water the vegetables in the garden and take care of the chickens and rabbits.
Although they hadn't entered the space much in the past few days, it wasn't entirely without results. By chance, they discovered a new function of the space.
A few days ago, the grapes in the courtyard of the space ripened. Xiao Feiran picked a basketful, put it on the table, and left the space without taking any preservation measures. But when they went in today, they found that the grapes were not rotten at all; they were as fresh as if they had just been picked, and the stems on the grapes were still bright green.
The group of students from 806 were now staring blankly at the basket of grapes. Cheng Zhi picked one, put it in her mouth and tasted it. "Practice is the sole criterion for testing truth. Keep putting them in. By the way, Wan, go cut a small piece of meat out. Use both as reference points."
Zheng Wan gave an OK sign, and everyone went to wash up. After washing away the filth, they felt much refreshed.
Seeing Liu Liu still running around the house, Cheng Zhi decided to wash Liu Liu as well, afraid that she wouldn't be able to wash her by herself. She would wait until Xiao Feiran was done washing before washing Liu Liu together.
Surprisingly, Liu Liu was exceptionally well-behaved. When water was accidentally spilled on its face, it didn't even shake itself off, but just stood there obediently, smiling at its two owners.
Everything went very smoothly from bathing to drying off, and wolves shed far less fur than dogs, so Cheng Zhi and Xiao Feiran had no trouble at all.
When Huang Yiyi came out after washing up, she saw Liu Liu. For some reason, Liu Liu looked much newer, so she grabbed it and started touching it vigorously. "Wow, whose new hook is this? Wow, it's mine! Hehehe, let your big sister touch it!"
Cheng Zhi: "..." Does Liu Liu need legal aid? I can call a lawyer for you.
