Yu Jingchen reached out and gently placed his hand on Nan Zhiyun's face. An unknown emotion welled up in his heart, seemingly full yet also empty.
Just then, Yu Jingchen noticed that Nan Zhiyun's breathing seemed to suddenly become erratic. He frowned slightly and looked at Nan Zhiyun, only to find that she seemed to be having nightmares again.
Nan Zhiyun gripped the blanket tightly, her expression panicked, and her breathing became rapid.
"No..." This wasn't the first time Nan Zhiyun had acted like this. Yu Jingchen guessed that it was mostly because of her experiences over the past two days and the incident that had just happened.
Yu Jingchen felt as if he already had experience, so he reached out and pulled her into his arms. Then he gently patted her with his other hand to comfort her.
However, Nan Zhiyun's condition not only did not improve, but seemed to have worsened.
"Your Majesty..." Nan Zhiyun called out. Yu Jingchen paused for a moment.
"Your Majesty..." Nan Zhiyun called out while waving her hands, as if seeking protection.
“Your Majesty…” Nan Zhiyun hugged Yu Jingchen’s arm.
"Please don't go..." Nan Zhiyun didn't seem to be dreaming about something that terrified her.
"Don't go... Your Majesty, I beg you," Nan Zhiyun's voice was filled with pleading and humility.
Upon hearing Nan Zhiyun's words, Yu Jingchen's heart trembled uncontrollably, and he suddenly felt a pain.
"Your Majesty, I love you... Why can't you love me?" Nan Zhiyun seemed to be trapped in a dream woven by someone.
Yu Jingchen pursed his thin lips and remained silent.
"Your Majesty, I have been waiting for you for so long, but it seems you have forgotten to come and see me," Nan Zhiyun continued, tears streaming down her face.
"Your Majesty, what happened? I went through so much effort to get to you, but you turned away..." Nan Zhiyun's voice grew weaker and weaker.
As Yu Jingchen listened, he felt as if Nan Zhiyun's words had turned into sharp blades and pierced his heart.
"I've been following in your footsteps, Your Majesty, but you've moved too fast for me to see," Nan Zhiyun continued.
Yu Jingchen held the person in his arms, his emotions complicated.
"Your Majesty... it's so tiring to like you. I don't think I want to like you anymore..." Nan Zhiyun's voice was much softer, as if saying these words had taken all the strength she had ever had in her life.
However, she stopped, and Yu Jingchen felt himself starting to panic.
"Nan Zhiyun..." Yu Jingchen called out unconsciously, but what should he say?
Yu Jingchen looked at the girl in his arms; she was crying… Even in her sleep, she would cry because of him, as if her affection had brought her misfortune…
"Why do I feel like I've changed too?" Yu Jingchen muttered to himself. How could he have ever done these things before?
Yu Jingchen wiped away Nan Zhiyun's tears: "Why can't I stand to see you like this? It's none of my business what you do." Yu Jingchen said to himself.
"Sometimes I wonder why I had to encounter such a thing? What is the reason that Heaven gave me a second chance? Is it just to live the same life again? But what is the point of that... Nan Zhiyun, in this life, because of you, it seems that I have gone astray..." Yu Jingchen's eyes seemed to be somewhat dazed as he looked at Nan Zhiyun.
