Chapter 16 Changing the Medicine

Consort De was displeased upon hearing this, but with just a glance, Liu Zhi immediately understood what to do.

Liu Zhi stepped forward and slapped Qian Yixia across the face: "How dare you, a mere servant, disobey the words of Consort De?"

"This servant wouldn't dare, but I'm afraid it would cause trouble for Consort De." Qianxia dared not utter any complaints.

"Since it was His Majesty who specifically ordered it, how could I be afraid of being tired? You may leave." Consort De's eyes turned cold.

Qianxia hesitated for a moment, but ultimately compromised.

"Yes," she really had no way to resist.

After seeing that the person had finally left, Consort De looked at Nan Zhiyun, who was lying on the bed, with contempt, and even pulled back the quilt to see the injury on her back.

"Tsk, how pitiful." Although she said that, Consort De's face showed no pity, but rather more schadenfreude.

After leaving the room, Qianxia immediately summoned the palace maid beside her: "Go and tell His Majesty that Consort Jieyu has woken up."

"But..." The palace maid hesitated.

"Now that you're here, you can only be Jieyu's person. So, if Jieyu is well, then you can be well. So be smart." Qianxia still had some authority.

"Yes," the palace maid dared not say anything more and immediately left to find Yu Jingchen.

Consort De, who was in the room, was no longer as angry as she had been when she first heard the news. Thinking of Yu Jingchen's past attitude, Consort De assumed that she had been summoned here today only to teach Nan Zhiyun a lesson, so with this in mind, her mood improved considerably.

"Consort Nan's back injury probably needs a dressing change. Bring the medicine over, I will apply it for her myself," Consort De said to the only remaining imperial physician in the room.

"Your Highness, the dressing on Consort Nan's back has already been changed, and it no longer needs to be changed," the imperial physician reminded her.

"This medicine should be changed frequently. Bring the medicine over here, and you can leave now," Consort De said arrogantly.

"Your Highness, Consort De..." The imperial physician was about to say something when Liu Zhi said, "Imperial Physician, Consort Nan's injuries were personally bestowed by His Majesty."

The imperial physician understood their meaning, but he dared not offend Consort De. After weighing the pros and cons, he chose to withdraw.

Upon seeing this, Consort De's expression finally softened, and she immediately picked up the ointment and began applying it to Nan Zhiyun.

"Your Highness, please don't get your hands dirty," Liu Zhi said, feigning concern for Consort De.

"Of course, you can't get these dirty things on your body," Consort De said with a disdainful look. Then she put the ointment on a damp cloth and roughly smeared it on Nan Zhiyun's back.

Nan Zhiyun frowned in pain; the wound on her back had reopened, and even her handkerchief was stained with blood.

"It hurts..." Nan Zhiyun whispered, but Consort De acted as if she didn't hear her and instead used even more force. Nan Zhiyun was then woken up by the pain.

"Qianxia...it hurts..." Nan Zhiyun opened her eyes groggily.

"Oh, Consort Nan has woken up? It seems the medicine is working." Consort De said.

"Your Highness Consort De..." Nan Zhiyun was somewhat bewildered when she saw that only Consort De and the others were there.

"Is Consort Nan surprised? His Majesty has issued a decree ordering me to take care of you. Consort Nan is indeed capable." Consort De's tone was full of sarcasm.

But to Nan Zhiyun, all she heard was that Yu Jingchen was trying to find ways to torment her again.

Sure enough, all the tenderness of Yu Jingchen that she dreamed about last night was just a dream that would shatter upon waking.
