Chapter 189 Leaving the Palace

But Yu Jingchen didn't even glance at her again.

"Weren't you going out? Are you just going to leave like this?" Yu Jingchen's attitude immediately softened.

Nan Zhiyun was surprised by Yu Jingchen's reaction. Yu Jingchen, seeing her dazed expression, felt a pang of tenderness.

"Are you stupid? Go change your clothes. I've already had everything else prepared. You can leave anytime you're ready." Yu Jingchen patted Nan Zhiyun's head.

"Yes...then I shall take my leave?" Nan Zhiyun was somewhat dazed.

"Yes, go ahead, no need to rush, I'll be waiting for you here." Yu Jingchen's voice was gentle.

Nan Zhiyun was dazed, but the thought of leaving the palace quickly replaced her initial excitement. She had been looking forward to this for a long time.

After Nan Zhiyun withdrew, Yu Jingchen's face turned cold as he looked down at Princess Chang Le.

"It's one thing for the Princess to come uninvited, but now she's also deaf? Why is she still staying here?" Yu Jingchen's face was icy cold.

"Your Majesty..." Princess Chang Le had just opened her mouth when Yu Jingchen raised his hand to stop her.

"Your Highness need not say more. If Your Highness has truly found a suitable girl for Prince Yuncheng, I would be happy to grant him a marriage. However, Your Highness must understand one thing: Nan Zhiyun is now Consort Shu. You must be mindful of your status. She is not someone you can boss around. You couldn't before, and you certainly can't now." Yu Jingchen's tone was full of warning.

“Your Majesty, that’s the daughter of the Nan family. Besides, haven’t you always disliked her? I am your father’s own sister and your own aunt. How can you treat me like this because of Nan Zhiyun?” Princess Chang Le said unwillingly.

"Insolence!" Yu Jingchen overturned the teacup beside him, which shattered at Princess Chang Le's feet, startling her.

“Princess Chang Le has been disrespectful before the Emperor and will be confined to her quarters for a month to reflect on her actions. She is also exempt from attending the royal banquet this year. Please escort her out of the palace and back to the Marquis of Yunyang’s residence on foot!” Yu Jingchen was furious. Princess Chang Le was naturally unwilling, but she dared not speak or plead for him. When Yu Jingchen was angry, no one dared to plead for him unless they didn’t want to die.

After Princess Chang Le left, Yu Jingchen looked at the mess below and ordered, "Clean this up." He didn't want Nan Zhiyun to see this scene.

The palace servants quickly cleaned the place up. By the time Nan Zhiyun came out, the place was already cleaned up.

"Your Majesty," Nan Zhiyun changed into a set of light clothes.

"Are you all done? Aren't you cold wearing such thin clothes?" Yu Jingchen walked over to Nan Zhiyun.

"It's alright, it'll get warm once I start moving around." Nan Zhiyun let Yu Jingchen come over to help her tidy her clothes, and to be honest, she was quite flattered.

"Put this on, it's too cold." Yu Jingchen had someone bring over a cloak.

Then they put it on Nan Zhiyun directly, and Nan Zhiyun didn't refuse, so she put it on.

"Is everything ready?" Yu Jingchen asked her.

"Okay," Nan Zhiyun replied.

"Let's go, I'll go out with you, otherwise it'll get late and you won't have enough fun." Yu Jingchen pulled Nan Zhiyun's clothes closer together.

Nan Zhiyun nodded; she had been eagerly anticipating it for a long time.

The news of Yu Jingchen and Nan Zhiyun leaving the palace was not spread, and Yu Jingchen would not allow it to be spread anyway.

Inside the carriage, Yu Jingchen and Nan Zhiyun sat together. The space was quite large, and Yu Jingchen had arranged for hot water bottles to be prepared beforehand, so Nan Zhiyun didn't feel too cold while holding one.

Perhaps because she had been in the palace for too long, Nan Zhiyun was now incredibly curious and wanted to see what the outside world looked like, but she hesitated because Yu Jingchen was there.

Yu Jingchen saw through Nan Zhiyun's thoughts: "If you're curious, just take a look. You haven't been out for a long time, so you might as well see how much has changed outside?" Yu Jingchen said.

"Is that okay?" Nan Zhiyun asked, somewhat delighted.

“Of course, you can watch it if you want,” Yu Jingchen said.

With Yu Jingchen's permission, Nan Zhiyun gently lifted the curtain of the carriage and looked out at the world with expectant eyes.

Looking at the vendors, Nan Zhiyun finally felt a sense of familiarity, as if nothing had changed; it was still as lively as ever.

The wind was a bit chilly, but just then, Nan Zhiyun felt warmth coming from behind her. Yu Jingchen then took her hand and helped her lift a corner of the curtain.

"Has it changed?" Yu Jingchen asked.

Nan Zhiyun shook her head: "It seems not."

"That means you didn't look carefully enough," Yu Jingchen said with a smile. Because they were so close, Nan Zhiyun felt as if she were lying directly in Yu Jingchen's arms, feeling warm and cozy.

“A lot has changed here. Many new vendors have come, and many old people have left.” Yu Jingchen said. In his previous life, after Nan Zhiyun died, he would often look outside, and in the end, all that was left were new faces.

"Alright, it's cold. You'll catch a cold if the wind blows in. We'll check again after we get off the carriage." Yu Jingchen lowered the curtain. Nan Zhiyun's hands were also icy cold because of the wind.

Yu Jingchen placed the hot water bottle in her arms and held Nan Zhiyun's hands in his own, trying to warm them up. So, the current situation was... Nan Zhiyun nestled in Yu Jingchen's arms.

Nan Zhiyun didn't know why, but she just felt a little uncomfortable, and even her breathing became more cautious.

"Where do you want to go first?" Yu Jingchen asked her.

"I don't know, it all depends on His Majesty's decision," Nan Zhiyun said.

"Will you still call His Majesty that when we're outside?" Yu Jingchen raised an eyebrow.

"If we don't call you Your Majesty, what should we call you?" Nan Zhiyun was a little confused.

"What do you think, Yun'er?" Yu Jingchen leaned close to Nan Zhiyun's ear, his voice low and husky. His warm breath brushed against Nan Zhiyun's earlobe, reddening her face and sending shivers down her spine.

"Your Majesty..." Nan Zhiyun shrank back.

"What are you afraid of? It won't do anything to you." Yu Jingchen smiled, then distanced himself from Nan Zhiyun.

"Your Majesty..." Nan Zhiyun's face was flushed.

"Still not changing it? Do you want them all to know that Consort Shu left the palace today?" Yu Jingchen asked with a smile.

“Yes, but I… I don’t know how to address Your Majesty…” Nan Zhiyun replied.

"Yun'er, feel free to say whatever you want." Yu Jingchen didn't say it explicitly, as if he wanted Nan Zhiyun to say something.

But how could Nan Zhiyun know what he meant? She thought for a long time but couldn't figure out how to address him, finally tentatively calling out, "Young Master..."

Yu Jingchen: "..."
