Chapter 264 No Forgiveness

Consort Xian understood what Yu Jingchen meant, but she just couldn't swallow this insult!

"Do you need me to send someone to help you?" Yu Jingchen's voice turned several degrees colder.

"Your Majesty, I dare not..." Although Consort Xian was frightened, no matter how unwilling she was, she looked at Nan Zhiyun and finally knelt down unwillingly.

"Your Highness, Consort Shu... I was ignorant of etiquette before, so I spoke rudely and misunderstood Your Highness. Your Highness is very magnanimous, and I hope Your Highness will forgive me this time." Consort Xian suppressed her anger and said.

Yu Jingchen looked at Nan Zhiyun and asked, "Do you want to forgive me?"

Nan Zhiyun hugged Yu Jingchen's waist, then shook her head, signifying that she wouldn't forgive him. Yu Jingchen didn't say anything, but simply patted her head casually.

She was unwilling to forgive, and why should she? That Consort Xian clearly disliked her. She disliked her, and she disliked her too. She was unhappy because of her, so Consort Xian shouldn't be happy either…

Consort Xian was getting restless. What did this mean? She had kindly come over to apologize, but the other party wasn't appreciating it?

"Your Majesty...Does Consort Shu really refuse to forgive me? Is there something I haven't done well enough?" Consort Xian's eyes reddened as she spoke.

"Does Consort Shu really not want to forgive you? You ask me? Don't you know in your heart whether you are sincere or not?" Yu Jingchen felt very annoyed when he saw his red eyes.

"Do you need me to gouge these eyes out for you?" Yu Jingchen had completely lost his patience.

"Yes, Your Majesty, I know I was wrong." Consort Xian was also frightened, because she knew that Yu Jingchen meant what he said.

"Are you dressed like you're dying and going to your own funeral? Coming here dressed like this at the end of the year, are you out of your mind?" Yu Jingchen became more and more annoyed with you.

Consort Xian was truly brought to tears this time, perhaps from being scolded or frightened.

"You're always crying and whining, it's an eyesore. Go back and stay home." Yu Jingchen sealed her fate with a single sentence. Consort Xian looked at Yu Jingchen in disbelief, but she didn't dare to beg for mercy.

"Yes..." Consort Xian could only retreat in defeat. She had planned everything meticulously, and finally had the opportunity to see His Majesty. She had hoped to gain his pity, but unexpectedly, Yu Jingchen was completely unmoved and didn't even bother to look at her.

News of Consort Xian's setback at He'an Palace spread, and most people in the harem simply watched it as a joke. Who was His Majesty? Did he really think he could just beckon them? They used to say Consort De was the most brainless person in the palace, but now it seems Consort Xian is no less so.

"Tsk, Consort Xian is almost dying. As her sister, I should go and see her." Consort De was still tending to her flowers and plants in her palace.

If we're talking about who had the best relationship with Consort Yan in the palace, then the worst relationship was between her and Consort Xian. They were always at odds, especially with each other's mouths, always the kind that wouldn't let go of a point once they were in the right.

"Your Majesty, the eldest princess cried again last night," a palace maid said as she approached.

"Is she thinking about her biological mother again?" Consort De asked.

"I'm afraid so," the palace servant said.

"It's the New Year, so it's normal for her to miss her mother. Have the Imperial Kitchen send over some of her favorite pastries. Also, send over some of her favorite little trinkets, along with the gifts His Majesty bestowed upon her, as New Year's presents," Consort De instructed.

“This can’t go on forever. What if the eldest princess keeps thinking about her mother?” Wenxi, the personal maid, felt sorry for Consort De.

"I'm not her biological mother. I've done enough by raising her. If she really misses her mother, what can I do?" Consort De said dismissively.

Wenxi didn't dare to offer any more advice. In truth, her mistress was just a bit sharp-tongued. She had never intentionally harmed anyone, and deep down, she wasn't a bad person. His Majesty probably knew this, which was why he had the mistress discipline the eldest princess. But… she mustn't raise a thankless child.

Consort De is a fickle person; she just said she was going to see Consort Xian, and then she actually went. She even blocked Consort Xian's way in the Imperial Garden.

"Oh, isn't this our illustrious Consort Xian? You're dressed all in white for the New Year, without any makeup or to dress up. I really must be thinking of going to a funeral, right?" Consort De covered her face and smiled.

"Consort De, what do you mean? Did you come here just to laugh at me?" Consort Xian was already furious, and now that she saw Consort De and heard her say those words, she couldn't hold back any longer.
