But he didn't drink it; instead, he put it aside and looked at Nan Zhiyun.
"Sit," he said.
“…Yes.” After what happened outside, Nan Zhiyun only hesitated for a moment before sitting down.
“Stretch out your hand,” Yu Jingchen added.
Nan Zhiyun wasn't sure what Yu Jingchen meant, but she didn't dare to disobey, so she slowly reached out her hand.
Yu Jingchen gently took Nan Zhiyun's hand. When she touched the warmth of his hand, Nan Zhiyun became nervous, not just nervous out of fear.
"Didn't you apply medicine?" Yu Jingchen suddenly blurted out.
Nan Zhiyun's hands were fair and delicate, but because of the burn, they were like a flawed work of art, making the scar on the back of her hand quite unsightly.
"It's all better now," Nan Zhiyun said somewhat tepidly. If it doesn't hurt anymore, then it's all better, isn't it? What else could she possibly say?
"Is the injury on your back like this too?" Yu Jingchen asked again.
"They're just scars; they'll probably fade away over time." Nan Zhiyun doesn't care about them much anymore.
Yu Jingchen released Nan Zhiyun's hand without saying anything, and the room fell silent, the atmosphere becoming somewhat awkward.
"Be smarter next time," Yu Jingchen broke the silence.
Nan Zhiyun didn't quite understand Yu Jingchen's meaning, but she still replied, "Yes, Your Majesty, I understand."
Nan Zhiyun's complexion was actually not good. She was only putting on a brave face. She had been lying in bed for the past two days, so her current condition was really not good.
"Where does it hurt?" Yu Jingchen asked, a rare question.
"Your Highness..." Nan Zhiyun hadn't finished speaking when she heard Yu Jingchen say, "If you dare say anything again that everything is fine or that everything is good, you'll see if I really do something to make things happen to you."
The words Nan Zhiyun was about to say suddenly stuck in her throat.
"Just tell me the truth. What's wrong with you? What's bothering you? What's the point of hiding it? Your face is as white as a ghost. Who would believe you if you said nothing was wrong? Who could you fool? Do you believe I'll charge you with deceiving the emperor?" Yu Jingchen was already fed up with Nan Zhiyun saying these kinds of things.
Perhaps it was Yu Jingchen's tone that was unpleasant, or perhaps it was the crime of deceiving the emperor that Yu Jingchen mentioned, but Nan Zhiyun's already pale face turned even whiter.
"Your Majesty, please forgive me!" Nan Zhiyun immediately knelt on the ground.
Yu Jingchen felt the veins on his forehead throbbing. Because she was right in front of him, Yu Jingchen reached out and pulled her up. However, because he didn't control his strength well, Nan Zhiyun stumbled and lost her balance, falling into Yu Jingchen's arms.
"Are you missing a screw in your head?" I don't know what Yu Jingchen is so angry about.
"I'm sorry... Your Highness..." Nan Zhiyun was truly terrified.
"Stand still," Yu Jingchen said, pulling Nan Zhiyun's arm to steady her.
Nan Zhiyun was filled with anxiety, fearing that Yu Jingchen would punish her in some way at any moment. Perhaps sensing Nan Zhiyun's fear, Yu Jingchen tried his best to control his emotions.
"I won't punish you. Just stand still." Yu Jingchen and Nan Zhiyun stood facing each other.
Nan Zhiyun's fear did not lessen at all after hearing this.
Yu Jingchen suddenly felt quite powerless and let out a barely perceptible sigh.
