Chapter 271 Adorable Pets

Yu Jingchen arrived a little late today. Nan Zhiyun spent the afternoon relaxing because of the adorable pet she had.

When Yu Jingchen arrived, Nan Zhiyun was lying on the bed, playing enthusiastically with the blue cat.

"Yun'er really liked it?" Yu Jingchen's tone was tinged with amusement.

"Your Majesty?" Nan Zhiyun thought of sitting up when she saw Yu Jingchen arrive, since lying down was not very elegant.

Compared to before, when she would be completely terrified at the sight of Yu Jingchen and always behaved impeccably, she's improved considerably now. Looking at these changes in Nan Zhiyun, Yu Jingchen felt a strange sense of satisfaction welling up inside him.

"This cat is covered in fur. What if it gets all over you and the bed? You can hold it all the time, but why are you putting it on the bed?" Yu Jingchen said helplessly.

"I didn't think that far ahead, and besides, he wasn't shedding any fur," Nan Zhiyun said, sitting up. Yu Jingchen also went over and sat down.

"Does your foot still hurt today?" Yu Jingchen asked.

"I accidentally bumped into it just now, and it hurt a little, but it stopped hurting when I saw this cat," Nan Zhiyun replied.

"I had it delivered because I was worried you'd be bored. Do you like it?" Yu Jingchen asked her.

"I love it, I love it so much, thank you, Your Majesty." Nan Zhiyun hugged the cat to her arms.

"I'm glad you like it. Have you named it yet?" Yu Jingchen wasn't really concerned about the cat; he just wanted to talk to Nan Zhiyun more.

“I took it, I’ll call it Bell,” Nan Zhiyun said, then she showed the cat a small bell she had just put around its neck.

“Your Majesty, may I call you Lingdang? Lingdang sounds very nice.” Nan Zhiyun looked at Yu Jingchen.

"Then let's go with the bell." Yu Jingchen would never argue with her about a pet's name.

“By the way, Your Majesty, I have never raised a cat before and have no experience. Also, all the flowers, plants and rabbits I used to keep have died, so could I find someone to help me take care of Lingdang?” Nan Zhiyun immediately brought up the important matter.

When Yu Jingchen heard her say that all her plants and rabbits had died, he was both amused and exasperated. He had originally thought that Nan Zhiyun should be quite skilled at this kind of thing.

"That's definitely not Yun'er's fault. I think your rabbit ate all your flowers and plants and died from overeating," Yu Jingchen teased her.

He remembered that when Nan Zhiyun was little, she liked rabbits, so the Empress Dowager found her one. However, Nan Zhiyun said that one rabbit was too lonely. She wanted a pair, so the Empress Dowager gave her a pair of male and female rabbits.

Goodness, rabbits reproduce really fast. So, not long after, they had a litter, which Nan Zhiyun was initially quite curious about. But when she went to play with the little rabbits, she accidentally killed one of them. I heard she felt incredibly guilty and cried for a long time, and even the Empress Dowager couldn't comfort her.

After that, Nan Zhiyun stopped playing with the rabbits and instead had someone prepare a special area for them. Somehow, the rabbits escaped and ate all the flowers and plants she had been tending.

She went to the Empress Dowager in tears, who immediately ordered all the rabbits to be caught. Only one was left for her. At dinner, the Empress Dowager had all the rabbits that had been caught braised, saying it was to avenge her. Nan Zhiyun ate with great relish.

That night, she held the remaining rabbit and kept feeding it. No one knows what it ate that it shouldn't have, but it died the next day…
