Chapter 276 Sick

The guests at this Lantern Festival banquet were all family members of officials of the fifth rank or above. Yan Qing was busy running around, never having a moment's rest.

"Your Majesty, the eldest princess is ill. Consort De said she won't be coming for the time being," Wenxi, Consort De's personal maid, reported.

"Sick? How did you suddenly get sick?" The Imperial Concubine frowned.

"Perhaps it's because the temperature difference between day and night has been quite large these past two days, so I caught a chill and just developed a high fever," Wenxi said.

"Has the imperial physician been summoned?" Consort Yan asked.

"I've already sent word, and they should have arrived by now," Wenxi replied.

"The eldest princess is the most important person. There's nothing important here. If you don't want to come, then you don't have to," Yan Qing replied.

"Yes, thank you for your understanding, Your Highness." Wenxi said this and then left.

Seeing this, the Imperial Concubine said to the palace servants around her, "You should also send someone to check on things, just in case anything goes wrong. If you need any help, remember to come to me anytime." Yan Qing was still not entirely comfortable leaving the Imperial Concubine alone.

"Yes," the palace servant quickly accepted the order and then followed them out.

"Let's go to the banquet hall," Yan Qing said.

"Has His Majesty been notified? Is His Majesty coming?" Yan Qing asked.

"We've already notified them that they'll arrive a little later; Consort Shu hasn't woken up yet," the palace servant replied.

"His Majesty truly dotes on Consort Shu." Yan Qing's expression revealed nothing.

"Where is the Empress Dowager? When will she arrive?" After all, it was the Empress Dowager who first suggested holding this banquet.

"The Empress Dowager will be coming in person soon," the palace servant said.

"Alright, let's go. The people below should be almost all here." Yan Qing was helped towards the banquet.

He'an Hall

Yu Jingchen looked at Nan Zhiyun, who was still asleep, with a sense of helplessness, but he couldn't bear to disturb her.

"Your Majesty, the banquet has already begun, and the Empress Dowager is heading that way. Should we wake Consort Shu?" Xinglai came over to ask for instructions.

"She's sleeping so soundly right now, what can she do if I wake her up? Let her sleep a little longer. It's not like she absolutely has to go to the banquet." Yu Jingchen said dismissively. Compared to Nan Zhiyun sleeping, what were these things?

"Yes..." Xinglai didn't know what else to say.

After everyone left, Yu Jingchen walked over to Nan Zhiyun. The blanket was fluffy, and Nan Zhiyun was curled up inside it, with only her small head peeking out. She was such a tiny little thing hidden under the blanket, and Yu Jingchen's heart melted at the sight of her.

Perhaps she was dreaming about something delicious, because Nan Zhiyun was making smacking noises with her lips, which was quite delightful to watch.

“A little girl is just a little girl.” Yu Jingchen sat beside her, feeling content as he watched the little girl sleeping soundly. In fact, it wouldn’t be so bad if things could stay like this forever.

"Your Majesty..." It was Qianxia.

Yu Jingchen looked over and asked, "Is there something else now?"

“It’s Her Majesty the Empress Dowager… Her Majesty the Empress Dowager said she would like to invite you to the Lantern Festival banquet later,” Qianxia replied.

Yu Jingchen hesitated for a moment, looking at Nan Zhiyun who was sleeping, and couldn't bear to disturb her: "Do we have to go now?" Yu Jingchen asked.

"The Empress Dowager only sent someone to deliver a message, nothing else," Qianxia replied.

"Alright, step down. I understand," Yu Jingchen said. Qianxia knew that Yu Jingchen must have his own reasons, so she didn't interfere.
