Chapter 31 Another Misunderstanding

Nan Zhiyun was also somewhat surprised to hear this, but she didn't show it, as she was afraid of losing her composure.

"How is it?" Yu Jingchen asked the female doctor.

"Your Majesty, the injury to Consort Jieyu's knee is not very serious. Some medicine and massaging it in will help, and the scars won't be difficult to remove. However, Consort Jieyu's health will likely require some time to recover. Besides getting plenty of rest, Consort Jieyu also needs to maintain a good mood and avoid excessive worry," the physician replied.

"What kind of aftereffects might it leave?" Yu Jingchen asked.

"Your Majesty, rest assured, as long as you take good care of yourself, there shouldn't be any major problems," the female physician replied.

"Alright, go and prescribe the medicine. Tell the staff below any precautions you may have." After saying this, Yu Jingchen looked at the female physician and the other palace servants.

"I'm making this clear this time: if there are any more problems with the person, I will hold you all accountable!" Yu Jingchen warned.

"Yes," everyone replied.

Nan Zhiyun's heart skipped a beat. Was Yu Jingchen protecting her? No, what was she thinking? How could he do such a thing? Besides, her current state was entirely because of him.

Nan Zhiyun couldn't hide her disappointment, and felt a pang of bitterness in her heart. She didn't know what she was expecting, and she had even considered giving up. But these things couldn't be erased by simply talking about them.

She had liked him for so long and put in so much effort. Even when she was disappointed and scared, she still had hopes and wanted to have him.

Noticing the change in Nan Zhiyun's emotions, Yu Jingchen composed himself and asked, "What's wrong?"

"I'm fine," Nan Zhiyun replied.

“If you have something to say, just say it. What’s the point of hiding it here? Anyway, if you keep it bottled up, it’ll be your own problem. I’ve found that you only do things that will make you suffer.” Yu Jingchen said.

Nan Zhiyun: "..."

She suddenly noticed another characteristic of Yu Jingchen: he had become more talkative. Before, he would never say a word if he could convey something with a look or gesture. He would also avoid saying anything more than a word or two.

"Your face is as pale as a ghost. Be careful these next few days, or you'll cause something else. Can't you be a little smarter?" Yu Jingchen sat down next to him.

"Your mother will be returning to the palace in a few days. She doesn't want to see you looking so sickly, so it's most important to get better first, understand?" Yu Jingchen asked.

Sure enough, Nan Zhiyun thought to herself, she had really been thinking too much and hoping for too much. What kind of person was Yu Jingchen? How could she have had such thoughts before?

"Yes... I understand," Nan Zhiyun replied softly, her mood low.

Yu Jingchen frowned slightly upon seeing this. What was he thinking now? He then asked, "What do you know? Do you know what I mean?"

"I will take good care of my health and will not cause Your Majesty any worry," Nan Zhiyun said.

Yu Jingchen found it strange, but couldn't quite put his finger on what was wrong. In the end, he had no choice but to give up and say, "Good that you understand. If you don't even take care of your own body, there's nothing anyone else can do."

Yu Jingchen didn't actually mean anything by it, but Nan Zhiyun misunderstood his words.
