Nan Zhiyun wiped Yu Jingchen's face again and again. The medicine prescribed by the imperial physician was ready, but she couldn't feed it to him. All night, Nan Zhiyun was worried about Yu Jingchen, so she barely slept and stayed by his side the whole time.
As dawn broke, Nan Zhiyun finally lay down to sleep beside Yu Jingchen. Yu Jingchen woke up just as Nan Zhiyun fell asleep, and seeing her exhausted face, he felt a pang of heartache.
Xinglai entered, and seeing that Yu Jingchen was awake, she was about to say something when Yu Jingchen stopped her. Xinglai glanced at the sleeping Consort Shu and understood His Majesty's meaning, so she silently withdrew.
Yu Jingchen carried her to the bed and then pulled the blanket over her.
"What a silly girl, how could she be so easily fooled?" Yu Jingchen gently touched the tip of Nan Zhiyun's nose.
Nan Zhiyun was fast asleep. Yu Jingchen had no choice but to gently embrace her, and then they both fell asleep together.
When Nan Zhiyun woke up again, it was almost noon. The first thing she did was look at Yu Jingchen. Seeing that he was still asleep, she reached out to check his temperature. Thankfully, his fever had subsided.
Nan Zhiyun breathed a sigh of relief, then realized she was sleeping in bed. However, she didn't think much of it and quickly got off.
Fortunately, breakfast was brought, but Nan Zhiyun had no appetite for it. She fed Yu Jingchen his medicine. The imperial physician arrived shortly afterward, but he was still helpless against the poison in Yu Jingchen's body.
Nan Zhiyun was somewhat disappointed upon hearing this, but she believed that Yu Jingchen would definitely be alright. After all, he was so powerful and the emperor, so these things were nothing to him.
For three consecutive days, Nan Zhiyun did not step out of Zichen Palace, staying by Yu Jingchen's side. However, as time went on and Yu Jingchen disappeared from the public eye, some people began to stir.
On this day, a group of ministers gathered at Zichen Palace, wanting to see Yu Jingchen, but Yu Jingchen had not woken up at all, so how could he possibly see them?
"My lords, His Majesty has been unavailable for the past few days. Please return to your quarters. He is furious about the assassination attempt and has yet to find the mastermind. If the mastermind is not found, His Majesty will not see you." Xing Lai pleaded earnestly from outside. At this time, Yu Jingchen was unlikely to come out, nor would Nan Zhiyun, since Yu Jingchen's previous excuse was that Nan Zhiyun had been frightened and injured.
"Your Excellency, we do indeed have important matters to report to His Majesty. We beg Your Excellency to grant us permission and inform His Majesty." The ministers seemed determined to see him.
Unfortunately, he had no choice but to pretend to go into the hall to report, but no matter how many times he went in, the result was always the same.
"My lords, this servant is truly powerless to help. Please, my lords, return home," Xinglai said.
"We are determined to see Your Majesty today. If we cannot, we will kneel here forever." The ministers actually knelt at the entrance of Zichen Palace.
Fortunately, he saw that they had actually knelt down, and he could only sigh silently. These people were clearly there to pressure His Majesty; perhaps they had become suspicious.
Fortunately, there was no other way but to go back in, but Yu Jingchen was still not awake.
