Chapter 353 I have a fever.

Perhaps because of the sedative she had taken, Nan Zhiyun's condition improved significantly afterward. Yu Jingchen knew that she hadn't been resting well for the past two days, so he coaxed her to sleep.

Fortunately, he had just finished dealing with things over there and came to report. Yu Jing'an is now in jail, and Yu Jingchen will not let him go. Even death is a luxury for him now.

"Your Majesty, seeing all this today, the ladies in the harem can't bear it anymore," Xinglai reminded him.

“If they can withstand it, I won’t need to send them over to see.” Yu Jingchen didn’t care at all.

Xinglai silently rolled her eyes. Was this indifference? It was clearly directed at someone… Didn't she see who was being so attentive to Consort Shu, wiping her sweat and taking care of her? She was already asleep; did she need to do this? What if she woke up? Oh, no, Consort Shu's sleeping condition was… too good; she shouldn't be woken up.

"Your Majesty, what should we do with the two children we left behind today? Should they stay in He'an Palace?" Xinglai asked.

"Let's keep it for now." Since Yu Jingchen had promised Nan Zhiyun, he naturally wouldn't go back on his word.

"Yes," Xinglai said quietly and withdrew without saying anything more.

Even those accustomed to bloodshed might find such a bloody scene unbearable. The empresses, ministers, and especially the civil officials in the palace will likely be ill for some time.

Sure enough, one after another, people both inside and outside the palace fell ill, mostly due to excessive shock. The concubines in the harem, in particular, were pampered and rarely left their quarters; witnessing such a scene inevitably overwhelmed them. As a result, they all fell ill, some even developing high fevers.

Nan Zhiyun also started to have a fever in the afternoon. Yu Jingchen had been prepared in advance, so he wasn't too panicked. After the imperial physician came to examine her and prescribed medicine, Yu Jingchen took care of her closely.

By evening, her fever had gradually subsided. Nan Zhiyun hadn't eaten all day, so Yu Jingchen gently woke her up.

"You haven't rested well these past few days, and you haven't eaten much either. Get up and eat something first, okay?" Yu Jingchen coaxed.

"I feel uncomfortable," Nan Zhiyun was pulled up by Yu Jingchen and sat up, then leaned against his chest.

"Be good, let's eat something first, and then you'll feel better after taking your medicine." Yu Jingchen brought over the congee.

"I feel dizzy and nauseous..." Nan Zhiyun's voice was weak and listless, and she didn't even want to open her eyes. She was really feeling unwell.

"You still need to eat a little bit, sweetie, I'll feed you." Yu Jingchen fed him a spoonful of porridge. Although Nan Zhiyun said she didn't want to eat, her body betrayed her, and she still put the porridge he fed her into her mouth.

Nan Zhiyun reluctantly ate two bites, and dodged when Yu Jingchen tried to feed her again.

"No~" Nan Zhiyun buried herself in Yu Jingchen's arms; she no longer wanted to eat.

"How much have you eaten? Eat some more," Yu Jingchen continued to urge.

"Hmm~ No," Nan Zhiyun really didn't want to eat anymore.

Yu Jingchen had no choice but to put the bowl down again. He placed his hand under Nan Zhiyun's armpit and pulled her closer to him.

"Shall we take the medicine?" Yu Jingchen asked her.

Nan Zhiyun shook her head, but she had no choice; Yu Jingchen still ordered someone to bring the medicine over. Looking at the dark bowl of medicine, Nan Zhiyun felt like vomiting.

"I won't drink"—these two words were uttered without the slightest hesitation.
