Nan Zhiyun slumped limply in Yu Jingchen's arms, as if she had no bones.
"Is there anything else that's bothering you today?" Yu Jingchen asked her.
"No, I'm fine now, my head doesn't hurt anymore." Nan Zhiyun stretched a little in Yu Jingchen's arms.
Yu Jingchen pulled the person out of the water: "Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?" Yu Jingchen asked softly.
Nan Zhiyun nodded: "I'm hungry." What could Yu Jingchen do? He picked up the clothes prepared beside him and dressed her himself. He had become quite adept at doing this kind of thing these days.
Nan Zhiyun sat there in a daze, letting Yu Jingchen do as he pleased. Just then, the faint sound of bells jingling could be heard outside.
Nan Zhiyun looked over and saw Lingdang running towards her, the small bell around her neck ringing out crisply and melodiously. Upon seeing Lingdang, Nan Zhiyun's eyes lit up, and she gently opened her hands.
"Ding-dong~" The sound, the movement... Yu Jingchen looked over. Ling-dong nimbly jumped onto the bed and then pounced into Nan Zhiyun's arms.
Yu Jingchen looked at the cat in Nan Zhiyun's arms, his expression darkening slightly. "That's quite a practiced move."
“Lingdang has gotten fatter again.” Nan Zhiyun picked up Lingdang.
"How can you not gain weight if you eat like this every day? You'll turn into a ball if you keep going like this," Yu Jingchen suddenly retorted.
"You look better when you're a little chubby, you'll be even cuter when you're plump and round." Nan Zhiyun didn't notice anything unusual and even tried to interact with Lingdang very affectionately. But when she saw Nan Zhiyun's head pressed against Lingdang, her face instantly darkened.
He reached out and picked up the bell, and Nan Zhiyun looked at him with a somewhat blank expression.
"It's so dirty! Don't get too close to it," Yu Jingchen said, then threw the bell away.
"Meow~" Bell let out a "miserable cry".
“I used to hold it like this too.” Nan Zhiyun suddenly felt a little confused.
"Hold it less in the future. I didn't notice before, but now I think it's quite ugly. Maybe we shouldn't keep it?" Yu Jingchen suddenly said.
Nan Zhiyun: "..."
Lingdang was probably frightened, so she didn't dare to jump on Nan Zhiyun anymore and instead ran away. Since Jiang Ji was in charge of taking care of the cat, Lingdang went to find Jiang Ji after leaving the room.
Jiang Ji picked up Lingdang, who let out two pitiful cries. Jiang Ji's lips curled slightly, his thoughts unreadable, as he gently stroked Lingdang's fur.
"Jiang Ji? What are you doing here with the bell?" Xia Yi had just returned from retrieving the medicine.
“The bell went missing just now, so I came to look for it. I didn’t expect it to run off to see Her Majesty again when I wasn’t looking. Perhaps it’s because His Majesty is here now that this fellow has come out again,” Jiang Ji replied.
"Lingdang is quite attached to the Empress, but if His Majesty is around in the future, you should keep a close eye on her to prevent her from causing trouble," Xia Yi instructed with concern.
"Don't worry, I understand." Jiang Ji was actually quite quick-witted. Xia Yi trusted him, so he didn't say much. He needed to hurry up and get the medicine to start brewing it, so he left quickly.
Jiang Ji watched Xia Yi's departing figure, his eyes darkening slightly. He slowly tightened his grip on Lingdang, perhaps accidentally tugging at her fur, as Lingdang struggled to run away.
Jiang Ji realized what was happening and looked down at the bell in his arms: "You knew too, right..."
