Nan Zhiyun was annoyed whenever she saw Yu Yan. What was this guy? Why was he always hanging around in front of her?
"Are you out of your mind? Have you taken gunpowder? Aren't you a mere concubine? I am a Noble Consort. Don't you even know the rules? Do I need to teach you?" Among this batch of newcomers, Nan Zhiyun disliked Yu Yan the most.
Yu Yan was speechless after being rebuked by Nan Zhiyun. Nan Zhiyun rolled her eyes at her and said, "You're just looking for trouble. You really have nothing better to do."
"What Consort Shu says is true. My rank is not as high as yours, but I am not necessarily inferior to you in any way. I heard that Consort Shu spent several days learning to ride a horse in the palace the other day, and His Majesty personally taught her. As it happens, I also know a little. I wonder if I could have a contest with you, Consort Shu?" Yu Yan directly issued a challenge.
Upon hearing this, Consort Yuan remained silent, simply standing quietly to the side, showing no intention of intervening.
"Why should I compare myself to you? If you want to ride, go ride yourself." Nan Zhiyun wasn't fooled.
"Does Consort Shu dare not?" Yu Yan was forcing her.
"Just consider me as someone whose skills are inferior to yours. Anyway, didn't you say that you're not inferior to me in every way? Now that you've surpassed me in horseback riding, are you happy?" Nan Zhiyun's tone was soft, and Yu Yan felt as if she had punched cotton.
"I'm not going to talk to you anymore. I want to walk around by myself. You don't need to follow me." Nan Zhiyun didn't want to stay with them for another second.
Yu Yan's face was contorted with anger, and she almost tore the handkerchief in her hand to shreds.
Nan Zhiyun finally got rid of them, and her mood immediately improved. However... just as they started talking about horseback riding, Nan Zhiyun suddenly felt a strong urge to try it herself.
"Did His Majesty bring grapes with him this spring hunt?" Nan Zhiyun suddenly asked.
"Is it brought over? Does Your Highness wish to ride a horse?" Qianxia asked Nan Zhiyun.
"It's a little bit better." Nan Zhiyun had been riding horses with Yu Jingchen for the past few days, and now she dares to ride alone.
"Should I send someone to inform His Majesty?" Qianxia asked her.
“No need, I’ll just ride here for a while. Jiang Ji, did you also train horses at Yujin Garden before?” Nan Zhiyun suddenly asked.
"This servant has indeed had some contact with them," Jiang Ji replied respectfully.
"Alright, you can help me control the horse in a bit, no need to tell His Majesty." Nan Zhiyun was quite excited; she could ride a horse now.
"But..." Qianxia was still a little worried.
"It's alright, His Majesty has sent people in secret, there won't be any other danger. Go, bring the grapes over." Nan Zhiyun was already impatient.
"Yes," Qianxia thought about it and agreed. His Majesty had arranged for many people to be by the Empress's side, so there shouldn't be any problems. She then gave Jiang Ji a look, and Jiang Ji went to bring the grapes over.
Nan Zhiyun walked over and touched the grapes; they were still as docile and quiet as before. Nan Zhiyun had Jiang Ji lead the horse, and she mounted it with some difficulty.
Fortunately, she was dressed simply today, so her outfit didn't pose too much of a problem. Jiang Ji led the horse, taking Nan Zhiyun for a few laps around the area, not daring to go too far. If anything went wrong later, none of them could bear the responsibility. Nan Zhiyun understood this as well, so she didn't feel the need to go very far.
