The sun has been shining brightly these past few days, casting warm rays, and the flowers in the Imperial Garden are almost all in bloom.
Nan Zhiyun, this lazy little cat, went to the Imperial Garden with an even lazier bell in her arms. The origin of this story... was that a certain dog emperor told her, "Yun'er has been getting lazier and lazier lately. She seems to have gained weight, and her face is round and chubby."
So Nan Zhiyun decided to be a little more "diligent" and came to the Imperial Garden to admire the flowers. But Nan Zhiyun hadn't gone very far before she started to lose interest in continuing.
"Is Your Highness tired? Why don't you rest in the pavilion over there?" Qianxia has recovered from her injuries and has now returned to serve you.
"I've only walked a few steps! If I sit down in some pavilion, I won't want to get up again. Wouldn't it have been a waste of my time to come out for a walk?" Nan Zhiyun's argument was quite reasonable. Qian Xia was speechless. Well, what the Empress said made sense.
The flowers in the Imperial Garden this year seem more vibrant than ever, and there are many more varieties, all specially transplanted at Yu Jingchen's behest. This was all to make Nan Zhiyun happy, since the Imperial Garden is one of the places she visits most often. Furthermore, Yu Jingchen noticed that Nan Zhiyun seems to particularly enjoy admiring these beautiful sights.
"If Your Highness is really tired, why don't you put the bell down?" Qianxia spoke up again. The bell had become much heavier recently, but perhaps because pets follow their owners, the bell had become incredibly lazy.
Speaking of bells...
"Is Jiang Ji feeling better?" Nan Zhiyun asked.
"The injury to my hand is quite serious; it probably won't heal quickly," Qianxia replied.
Alright, Nan Zhiyun didn't ask any more questions. Looking at the garden full of spring colors, Nan Zhiyun felt quite bored; there was nothing to do.
Just as Nan Zhiyun was getting bored, a girl walked up in front of her, a girl Nan Zhiyun had never seen before.
"Who is that person?" Nan Zhiyun asked. Qianxia looked over, her expression not too good either.
"She's Consort De's cousin, a concubine's daughter from the Lu family. After Consort De passed away, the Lu family sent her to the palace, presumably to replace Consort De," Qianxia told Nan Zhiyun. She had only heard about this, but she felt that His Majesty would definitely not care about this Miss Lu, so she didn't tell Nan Zhiyun.
Before Nan Zhiyun could say anything after hearing this, she saw Lu Ruoruo walking towards her from the opposite side.
"This humble woman, Lu Ruoruo, greets Consort Shu." Lu Ruoruo bowed gracefully, her movements delicate and her voice melodious like a nightingale's song—what a beautiful woman!
"You recognize me?" Nan Zhiyun did not call out.
"I had the honor of seeing Your Highness a few times at banquets before. Your Highness is exceptionally elegant and enjoys the Emperor's great favor. Of course, I recognize you," Lu Ruoruo replied.
"A banquet? Only legitimate daughters attend banquets in the palace. Is Miss Lu a legitimate daughter in your family? I am not knowledgeable enough. Does Miss Lu have anyone in her family holding a position in the court? What is their position?" Nan Zhiyun could not stand this kind of person. Just by looking at her smug demeanor, Nan Zhiyun could not like her.
Lu Ruoruo felt somewhat embarrassed by Nan Zhiyun's words. She was just a Consort Shu, without even an heir to the throne. Nan Su had already relinquished his military power, so she was nothing more than a paper tiger. What was there to be proud of? What would she be after she entered the palace?
Seeing Lu Ruoruo remain silent, Nan Zhiyun was too lazy to waste any more time with her and was about to walk past her and leave.
"Your Highness, Consort Shu!" Just as Nan Zhiyun walked past her, Lu Ruoruo suddenly spoke up and then stood up.
Nan Zhiyun turned to look at her. What was she going to do?
"Consort Shu is indeed favored, but how long can the emperor's favor last? Isn't Your Highness afraid of blocking your own path in the future?" Lu Ruoruo was a bold woman.
