Nan Zhiyun turned her head away and remained silent.
"Why are you silent again? Weren't you just saying some harsh things?" Yu Jingchen's tone was slightly joking.
"I dare not," Nan Zhiyun said, clinging tightly to Yu Jingchen's arm.
Yu Jingchen helplessly pulled her out from behind and also pulled his arm away. Without her support, Nan Zhiyun lost her sense of security.
“Speak properly. What kind of habit is it to utter one or two words at a time?” Yu Jingchen said.
Nan Zhiyun didn't want to see her. Yu Jingchen, exasperated by the commotion, eventually had her taken away.
"Are you satisfied now?" Yu Jingchen asked, but Nan Zhiyun remained silent.
"Alright, let's apply the medicine first," Yu Jingchen said, not wanting to continue the argument. Perhaps afraid to go on, Nan Zhiyun sat quietly, letting Yu Jingchen apply the medicine for her.
"Does it hurt to talk?" Yu Jingchen asked.
"It hurts," Nan Zhiyun replied.
"Well, then talk less." Yu Jingchen replied seriously.
Nan Zhiyun: "..."
"It hurts even when I don't speak," Nan Zhiyun said, but Yu Jingchen ignored her. She then added, "It still hurts now."
Yu Jingchen glanced at her, and Nan Zhiyun met his gaze before looking away. She seemed... still too afraid.
Yu Jingchen naturally noticed, but he didn't say anything, and the room immediately fell silent. After he finished applying the medicine to Nan Zhiyun, he asked, "Why aren't you crying in pain anymore?"
"I'm afraid His Majesty will find it annoying," Nan Zhiyun replied.
Yu Jingchen's tone remained unchanged: "Then how dare you say that again just now? Aren't you afraid I'll get annoyed?"
“I’m scared, but I want to…” Nan Zhiyun said.
"What are you thinking about?" Yu Jingchen asked.
"I want to be cared for... I want to be spoiled just this once, because I might not have the chance again." Nan Zhiyun lowered her head.
"Why won't there be another chance?" Yu Jingchen regretted asking the question as soon as it left his mouth. Sure enough, Nan Zhiyun said, "The next dream will be different. Your Majesty, lately when I haven't seen Your Majesty, I really want to sleep. Because when I'm asleep, I can see Your Majesty, Your Majesty who doesn't get angry. I've never seen Your Majesty since I entered the palace."
"But when I'm with Your Majesty, I'm afraid I'll fall asleep, because I'm afraid the next time won't be the same. Your Majesty, I feel like I no longer know what's real and what's illusory." Nan Zhiyun looked at Yu Jingchen again, but her eyes had become confused as she spoke.
Yu Jingchen was silent for a moment, then said, "Then just treat all of this as real and don't overthink it." Yu Jingchen told Nan Zhiyun.
Nan Zhiyun shook her head: "No, none of these are true."
"Why can't it be?" Yu Jingchen asked.
“Because His Majesty dislikes me and the Nan family. If I do something wrong, His Majesty will punish me. But if I am injured, His Majesty never cares,” Nan Zhiyun replied.
"...That was in the past." For some reason, Yu Jingchen felt a pang of sadness when he heard this.
"It's the same now, you still don't like me, do you?" Nan Zhiyun smiled, a gentle smile, but her lips were upturned while tears were falling.
