Chapter 619 Female Rebirth Chapter: Let's Stay For Now

"Coming here to see me?" Nan Zhiyun felt as if she were hearing something in her sleep, and she couldn't quite believe it.

"Not only can he come to meet you, but you can also have a meal together. I won't disturb you," Yu Jingchen added.

Nan Zhiyun was truly shocked. The disbelief in her eyes softened Yu Jingchen's heart.

"So, let's rest now, okay?" he asked, his voice much gentler than usual.

"Okay..." Nan Zhiyun finally gave in. Yu Jingchen stepped forward and helped her lie down. Nan Zhiyun lay down and obediently closed her eyes, just like a little baby who needed to be coaxed to sleep.

When Yu Jingchen saw her close her eyes like that, he raised his eyebrows slightly. Nan Zhiyun looked like a little darling, very obedient and well-behaved.

Yu Jingchen sat silently beside her the whole time. Nan Zhiyun wasn't really asleep either, but she had indeed been frightened and was exhausted today. So, as she lay there, she became sleepy, and besides, her stomachache had subsided, so she quickly fell asleep.

"She fell asleep quite quickly." Yu Jingchen gently touched Nan Zhiyun's nose, then tucked her in before getting up and leaving.

After Yu Jingchen left, he gave the following instructions: "Have the Imperial Medical Bureau prescribe new medicine for Consort Shu. The Imperial Kitchen will no longer be responsible for Consort Shu's meals. From today onwards, all of Consort Shu's meals will be prepared in the kitchen of Zichen Palace. The tableware used will also be kept separately and cannot be used at will." Yu Jingchen gave the order, and the palace servants all responded.

"When will Nansu arrive?" Yu Jingchen asked Xing Lai.

"It will probably take another two hours," Xinglai replied respectfully.

"Go and bring all the memorials that were not processed today to Zichen Palace. Do not disturb them unless necessary. After Nan Su returns, there's no need to go to the Golden Palace; come directly here," Yu Jingchen then ordered.

Fortunately, he responded in a low voice. He could guess that His Majesty's actions were probably due to Consort Shu.

After issuing these orders, Yu Jingchen returned to the main hall. He did not go to Nan Zhiyun's resting place, but sat down directly at his desk.

Fortunately, he brought over the official business that he hadn't finished today. Yu Jingchen is usually quite busy. Yesterday, he spent the whole day outside with Nan Zhiyun, so he had a lot of things piled up today.

The room was quiet. Nan Zhiyun was sleeping peacefully in the inner room while he was handling official business outside. The atmosphere between the two seemed to have changed somewhat.

Looking at the table full of food, Yu Jingchen felt a surge of irritation. Since ascending the throne, as an emperor, he had to restrain himself every day. There were many things he couldn't do according to his own wishes. Many people wanted this position, but it was never easy.

He didn't know how long he had been working; he had become numb to these things. But… Yu Jingchen looked to the side, his brows furrowing: “Why did you come down?” It was Nan Zhiyun who had gotten up.

"I can't sleep..." Nan Zhiyun said in a low voice.

"Then why did you get up by yourself without calling anyone? Is your foot injury healed? You dared to get down?" Yu Jingchen looked unhappy. He put down what he was doing and walked over.

Nan Zhiyun was somewhat at a loss and even took two steps back, probably because she was a little scared, so she couldn't control herself.

Yu Jingchen naturally saw it too, but said nothing. But... why is Nan Zhiyun barefoot?

"Why aren't you even wearing shoes?" Yu Jingchen asked coldly.

“…My feet hurt, so I didn’t wear them.” Nan Zhiyun lowered her head, seemingly nervous.

Yu Jingchen picked her up and said, "If your feet hurt, why did you walk all the way here? Don't you have a mouth? Don't you know how to call for help?"

"I'm sorry..." Nan Zhiyun said softly. Yu Jingchen, who was about to say something, was choked up by her words and couldn't say anything.

"Never mind, just be more careful next time." Yu Jingchen didn't say anything else, he just carried Nan Zhiyun back to bed.

Nan Zhiyun let go of his hand and obediently sat up on the bed.

(The foreshadowing of male character suffering has already begun, I wonder if you guys have noticed. But a reminder, before the plot fully develops, please don't make any judgments or jump to conclusions. There might be a twist, or there might be other purposes. So~ let your imaginations run wild, hahaha?)

I'd like to ask for your final feedback. Do many of you feel that the rebirth arc is progressing too slowly and is too long? Does it feel like it's dragging on?

Actually, I prefer a slower, more gradual development, and I want to portray the emotional progression in a more nuanced way. Because, in my personal view, these things don't happen suddenly; I want a slow, gradual transformation. That's why I devoted a significant portion of the story to the two characters.

It might be because I'm a slow starter. The female lead has many imperfections, but to be honest, I did empathize with her in many parts of the story, especially the emotional aspects.

But since I'm not the person in question, I certainly can't truly empathize with them, and I don't know how I would handle every situation they faced. So there are still many shortcomings.

Another issue is writing style. I often think one thing, but what I write down is quite another – this is due to unclear expression and poor writing skills. I will gradually practice and learn from others in this area. If anyone has any good methods, please feel free to recommend them to me! Haha, everyone!!!
