Didn't you owe me a draft yesterday? It's all finished now. Go check out the previous chapter!
After Nan Zhiyun had fully recovered, Yu Jingchen spoke softly to her, hoping to distract her with something.
"Your father and the others have already set off and will be back soon." After thinking it over, Yu Jingchen realized that this was the only thing that could get Nan Zhiyun's attention.
Sure enough, Nan Zhiyun's attention was completely drawn to Yu Jingchen's words.
"When you return, I'll let you all have a proper reunion. If you want to go back to the General's Mansion, that's fine too." Yu Jingchen offered another tempting offer. He thought that Nan Zhiyun seemed to be resisting communication with the outside world, but if he started with the General's Mansion, would she accept?
"Can I go back?" Nan Zhiyun asked proactively.
"Of course you can, but you need to recover from your injury first, right?" Yu Jingchen told her, and then added, "After you've recovered in a couple of days, you can go back and take a look if you want. If your father comes back, the General's Mansion will need to be redecorated, right? Only when you go back and see for yourself will you know if your father will like it."
"Is it good?" Seeing that Nan Zhiyun was still stunned and didn't react, Yu Jingchen moved closer and asked.
“Okay…” Nan Zhiyun seemed to have no objection, perhaps because the General’s Mansion was a safe haven for her, a place where she felt safe.
"You've been lying down for quite a while today. Would you like to get up and walk around?" Yu Jingchen changed the subject. Nan Zhiyun had been lying down for the past two days, and Yu Jingchen was worried that she might be uncomfortable or have other problems, so he would give her massages.
Nan Zhiyun didn't respond immediately to Yu Jingchen's words, but it shouldn't be considered resistance, right?
"Shall I help you down and walk around a bit?" Yu Jingchen then asked.
"Mmm..." Nan Zhiyun agreed. Yu Jingchen smiled gently at her, then stood up first before helping Nan Zhiyun to her feet. Nan Zhiyun's movements were a little unnatural, as it aggravated her injuries, but she could bear it.
"Take it slow, try it first. If it doesn't work later, we won't force it, okay? Don't keep enduring it." Yu Jingchen gave the first instruction.
Nan Zhiyun nodded. She had been lying on the bed for the past few days and felt like she was going to degenerate from lying down. She didn't even know how to walk anymore, and she tripped and fell as soon as she got up.
Fortunately, Yu Jingchen was there to watch over and support her, otherwise she would have fallen directly to the ground.
If Yu Jingchen hadn't been worried that Nan Zhiyun would develop health problems from keeping her emotions bottled up, he probably wouldn't have wanted her to move. But her current situation was truly worrying, so he could only resort to this method to help Nan Zhiyun alleviate her emotions and prevent her from overthinking.
"Take it slow, don't be afraid." Yu Jingchen put his arm around her. Nan Zhiyun actually felt that he was exaggerating. She was just in a little pain, but it wasn't like she couldn't walk.
She followed Yu Jingchen's steps and slowly began to walk. Zichen Palace was really big, and she felt a little tired after walking for a while.
"Don't you want to leave?" Yu Jingchen easily sensed Nan Zhiyun's emotions.
"It hurts a little," Nan Zhiyun said honestly.
"Then we won't leave," Yu Jingchen said decisively. Before Nan Zhiyun could even react, he scooped her up in his arms. Nan Zhiyun was startled and even cried out.
"It's okay, don't be afraid." Yu Jingchen held her in his arms, taking special care to avoid her wound. After saying this, he carried her to the bed and laid her down.
"With a couple more days of rest, you should be able to sit up," Yu Jingchen said.
Nan Zhiyun lay down and naturally hugged the blanket to her chest, as if she were holding a small baby. Because she lacked a sense of security, she only felt at ease when she held something in her arms.
Nan Zhiyun seemed to be harboring something in her heart, but she had never dared to tell Yu Jingchen. Now, it was probably written all over her face, which made it very easy for Yu Jingchen to see through her.
"What's wrong? Is there anything else you want to say?" Yu Jingchen asked her.
“…” Nan Zhiyun opened her mouth, but didn’t say anything.
"It's okay, just say it." Yu Jingchen always repeated these words, these actions, and this tone. This was something he would never have thought of doing before, something he felt he could never do, but now it had truly become a habit.
Falling in love with someone is a terrifying thing; it can make you become someone you don't recognize, and you can really change yourself for that person.
"Consort Yun..." Nan Zhiyun uttered these words, showing that she still cared about this matter.
Upon hearing these words, Yu Jingchen's eyes darkened, followed by boundless guilt.
"She's dead." I said those words, Yu Jingchen. She really is dead, just the night before last.
Nan Zhiyun was startled when she heard this. Dead? She looked at Yu Jingchen, fear flashing in her eyes.
"Don't be afraid, this is my fault. I apologize to you, okay?" Yu Jingchen knew that saying sorry was a rather useless thing, but he couldn't not say it.
"How did she..." Nan Zhiyun suddenly found herself unable to ask the question, or rather, she dared not ask it.
"I arranged it, but... she died in an accident. Does Yun'er understand?" Yu Jingchen asked. He did not directly issue an order to execute Consort Yun, but she had to die. The night before last, someone found Consort Yun had fallen into the dry pond in the Cold Palace. That pond was quite deep, and she would have died immediately if she had gone in.
