"Is Father not coming back?" Nan Zhiyun asked.
"What are you thinking about? It'll be alright, okay?" Yu Jingchen comforted her, wanting to wipe away her tears, but Nan Zhiyun dodged away.
Yu Jingchen's hand stiffened. Why did he feel that Nan Zhiyun was acting strangely? Was she avoiding him, or was she afraid of him?
"Father won't be coming back. His Majesty doesn't want Father to return, so Father doesn't have the ability to come back." Nan Zhiyun wiped away her tears.
Upon hearing this, Yu Jingchen frowned deeply; it seemed like his brows hadn't relaxed all day.
"Why are you thinking such nonsense again? Who told you these things? Who's gossiping? I'll pull out their tongue," Yu Jingchen continued.
"..." Nan Zhiyun did not answer. Yu Jingchen sighed helplessly and then pulled her back into his arms.
"Yun'er, be good and don't overthink it. Wait a little longer, okay?" Yu Jingchen whispered in Nan Zhiyun's ear.
Nan Zhiyun closed her eyes: "Your Majesty, this is the second time you have killed my closest relatives. You clearly promised me that you would not kill my father..." Nan Zhiyun's voice was very soft, so soft that it seemed to dissipate with a gust of wind.
"What?" Yu Jingchen didn't understand. He was about to look at Nan Zhiyun in his arms when he felt a pain in his chest. Yu Jingchen looked at Nan Zhiyun in shock.
Nan Zhiyun's gaze remained fixed on Yu Jingchen's face. As her gaze shifted downwards, she saw that the hairpin she had been holding was now piercing Yu Jingchen's chest.
"Yun'er?" Yu Jingchen looked at Nan Zhiyun in disbelief.
"Yu Jingchen, why do you have to ruin me? Why can't you let me go, let my father go? You clearly said you wouldn't kill my father." Nan Zhiyun's tears flowed uncontrollably, but Yu Jingchen didn't understand.
"What gossip has Yun'er heard? I didn't do it, does Yun'er really not believe me?" Yu Jingchen suddenly felt a little sorry for her.
“This isn’t just idle gossip; it’s something I experienced and witnessed firsthand… Your Majesty, I know why your attitude towards me suddenly changed,” Nan Zhiyun continued, and Yu Jingchen’s eyes flickered slightly.
“I remember everything…” Nan Zhiyun’s words shattered the last bit of hope in Yu Jingchen’s heart.
“Yun’er…” Yu Jingchen called her name.
“You are not worthy to call me Yun’er, Yun’er is dead…” Nan Zhiyun’s hands began to tremble, and Yu Jingchen grasped the hands that Nan Zhiyun was holding the hairpin.
"So you want to kill me? Hmm?" Yu Jingchen asked him, but there wasn't much blame in his tone.
“You killed my father, you killed him twice…” Nan Zhiyun became increasingly agitated.
Yu Jingchen had no memory of the incident Nan Zhiyun mentioned. Even if this was the first time, where was the other one? He had never tried to kill Nan Su in his previous life.
"Kill me, and then what? What do you plan to do?" Yu Jingchen's voice softened at first.
"If I kill you, can I live? Father is gone, is there any point in me living?" Nan Zhiyun smiled, but there was a lot of bitterness in that smile.
“Of course I can…” Yu Jingchen said, slowly pulling the hairpin out. Nan Zhiyun tried to pull harder, but she didn’t have that much strength.
"Yun'er... even if you kill me, you won't be in any danger. But... as long as I don't want to die, how could you possibly kill me? Hmm?" Yu Jingchen smiled at her, blood seeping from his chest. He glanced at it but didn't seem to care.
"Yun'er went a little too lightly, hmm?" Yu Jingchen's expression was much more relaxed than before. But... why did Nan Zhiyun feel a sense of fear after seeing it?
"Take good care of yourself here, okay? Don't do anything to yourself, or I'll really get angry." Yu Jingchen patted Nan Zhiyun's head with his other clean hand before getting up.
Nan Zhiyun gasped for breath. She hadn't felt scared before, but now she felt as if she had done something terrible—she had just stabbed Yu Jingchen…
Watching Yu Jingchen's departing figure, Nan Zhiyun felt as if all her strength had been suddenly drained, and she collapsed to the ground.
Yu Jingchen left the house. Xing Lai, who had been guarding outside, was so frightened by Yu Jingchen's injuries that he almost flew out of his skin.
"Your Majesty... what is this...?" Xinglai was so frightened that he almost collapsed.
"Summon the imperial physician. Consort Shu accidentally knocked over the medicine bowl while drinking her medicine, cutting her hand," Yu Jingchen ordered.
"Yes..." Fortunately, he didn't dare to ask any more questions, as he had personally gone to invite the imperial physician this time.
After all, it was His Majesty who was injured, but... how could His Majesty be injured? His Majesty was actually injured? Yu Jingchen was indeed seriously injured this time, and he lost a lot of blood, which looked terrible.
Yu Jingchen stood guard in the side hall. He genuinely hadn't expected Nan Zhiyun to attack him just now. She said she remembered... but what did she remember? Why did she say she killed Nan Su twice? He clearly hadn't done it...

Fortunately, the imperial physician was quickly summoned. The physician initially thought it was Nan Zhiyun, the delicate Consort Shu, who had encountered some problem again. However, upon discovering that it was actually His Majesty, he was also taken aback. Could there really be anyone in this world who could harm His Majesty?
Treating the wound was even more terrifying. How could it have gotten so deep? And now the wound is very close to the heart.
