Yu Jingchen didn't reply immediately. He glanced at his wound, which had been repeatedly reopening over the past two days, and he had become somewhat used to it.

"What exactly is your purpose in doing this?" Yu Jingchen finally asked.

"What purpose could I possibly have? I simply don't want His Majesty to have an easy time." Gu Yin spoke without any restraint.

“Then you shouldn’t have reached out to Nan Zhiyun either,” Yu Jingchen said in a slightly cold tone.

"This is her own choice, not one I made for her." Gu Yin said matter-of-factly. What could he possibly do about Nan Zhiyun's decision?

"Gu Yin, do you believe I will kill you?" Yu Jingchen was clearly now truly intent on killing.

“If Your Majesty truly wishes, then of course you can do it.” Gu Yin was well aware of Yu Jingchen’s abilities; if he were truly determined to kill him, he might actually be able to do it.

Yu Jingchen was indeed intent on killing her. After all, Gu Yin had already made a move against Nan Zhiyun, and if he were to actually keep her alive, who knew what else he might do. In this standoff, it was Gu Yin who gave in first.

“Her memories are certainly real, so His Majesty did indeed kill Nan Su, and he even beheaded Nan Su in front of Consort Shu. Does His Majesty think she should hate you? This hairpin wasn't stabbed hard enough.” Gu Yin said this with a sarcastic expression, as if all of this was just Yu Jingchen’s own fault.

Upon hearing this, Yu Jingchen's heart skipped a beat. No wonder she hated him so much... But if that was really the case, how should he face Nan Zhiyun?

"If Your Majesty has nothing else to say, I will not keep you company any longer." Gu Yin was too lazy to stay any longer.

"She remembered these things...and they're related to you, aren't they?" Yu Jingchen continued to ask.

Gu Yin's lips curved slightly, his eyes filled with disdain: "What does Your Majesty think? Is this matter important? If Consort Shu can't remember, does Your Majesty mean that this matter doesn't exist?" Gu Yin asked him.

Yu Jingchen fell silent at the question. If Nan Zhiyun didn't remember, he probably wouldn't have known about it either. However… as if suddenly remembering something, Yu Jingchen looked at Gu Yin and asked, "Is it because of you that I was able to remember these things?"

“If Your Majesty thinks that way, then you are not wrong.” Gu Yin did not deny this, and Yu Jingchen seemed to understand something.

"What was the Empress Dowager like in that life?" Yu Jingchen asked. Sure enough, when Yu Jingchen mentioned the Empress Dowager, his expression instantly turned cold.

"Thanks to His Majesty's kindness, the Empress Dowager perished in the fire, which burned for a full half day before it was finally extinguished." Gu Yin looked at Yu Jingchen, her eyes slightly red, showing that he was not in a stable emotional state.

That's it. The only thing that could elicit such a strong reaction from Gu Yin is the Empress Dowager, so her death is probably also because of her.

"I will not accompany Your Majesty any longer. Please make yourself at home." Gu Yin had no patience to continue. He was afraid that if he stayed any longer, he would lose his temper.

Yu Jingchen didn't stop her. If what she said was true, and he had killed Nan Su in his previous life, then the Empress Dowager would inevitably be implicated. But what exactly happened in their so-called previous life?

Yu Jingchen closed his eyes. Why had everything become so troublesome lately? Yu Jingchen sat down on the chair next to him, feeling somewhat helpless. He had just come in because he saw that Gu Yin had already left, and he saw this scene when he entered.

"Your Majesty..." Xinglai was somewhat worried.

Yu Jingchen didn't want to see anyone; he needed to calm down for a while.

"...Yes." Fortunately, he was worried, but dared not overstep his bounds, so he could only obey the emperor's will. Yu Jingchen was somewhat tired, sitting in the chair pressing his temples, not opening his eyes for a long time.

Perhaps because he was too tired these past few days, he started to lose consciousness while sitting here. He seemed to be having a dream, in which... Nan Zhiyun was crying, and he, against her will, forced himself on her...

Also, Nan Su... Nan Su and the Empress Dowager joined forces with Yu Jing'an to rebel and force the emperor to abdicate... Are those memories real?

Yu Jingchen slowly regained his senses. It was already very late; he had been here all day. He wondered if Nan Zhiyun was resting yet. He stood up and mustered his courage to go inside.

Because of the curtains, Yu Jingchen didn't know Nan Zhiyun's current situation. He stood at a distance, somewhat hesitant to approach.

However... after hesitating for a long time, he finally couldn't resist. Nan Zhiyun was right in front of him, how could he possibly control himself from going up to her?

Yu Jingchen slowly stepped forward and reached out to lift the curtain. Nan Zhiyun didn't react, so he sat down beside her bed.

He didn't say anything, watching the little girl's back. He wanted to reach out and touch her, but he pulled his hand back as soon as he did.

"Yun'er hasn't rested yet?" After a long silence, Yu Jingchen finally couldn't help but speak. Nan Zhiyun remained silent, and Yu Jingchen felt a sharp pain in his chest, unsure whether it was from his injury or something else.

Nan Zhiyun had her back to Yu Jingchen, but she wasn't asleep at all. She simply didn't want to pay attention to him. However, remembering what the Empress Dowager had said to her earlier that day…

"Yun'er, is there anything else that's bothering you? Did you feel any better after taking your medicine today?" Yu Jingchen continued to ask.

Nan Zhiyun remained silent. The memories of her past life were still vivid in her mind. How could she forget? Even if Yu Jingchen did not harm her father in this life, he had truly hurt her father in the past life.
